My Husband's Grandmother Hester Slover Luttrell Whaley always said she
came from Coal Creek TN. I saw where Coal Creek became Lake City. I looked
to Anderson County to find her 2nd Husband's grave (Pinkney H. Whaley)
although I found them in the 1920 Census in Campbell County, I knew her
family was from "Coal Creek", where most of them are buried. I assumed Coal
Creek was always Anderson County.
Tonight I found an index for Tennessee Place Names - Post Offices and
now I don't know what to think!! It said:
Post office County Opened Closed
Coal Creek Anderson 1868 1939
Coal Creek Campbell 1856 1870
1868 - 1870 was over-lapping
Can anyone explain Coal Creek and the Counties??
Thanks in advance!!
Carolyn Whaley
