JERRY "Hippy Doc" ANTHONY, 53, of Speedwell, passed away Sept. 13 at the U.K.
Medical Center. He was born Feb. 18, 1948, in Newcomb TN. He was a member of
Town Creek Baptist Church, a corporal and veteran in the U.S. Army during the
Vietnam Era.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Geneva Rigney Anthony and brother,
Terry Anthony.
He is survived by wife, Joyce Hunley Anthony of Speedwell; sons, Wayne
Anthony of Harrogate and Michael and Karen Anthony of Tazewell; daughter and
husband, Sabrina Hanson of Crittenden, KY and Angela and Ashley Anthony of
Speedwell; brother Donnie Anthony of Williamsburg, KY; sisters, Robbie Goins,
of LaFollette and Patsy Anthony of Jellico; six grandchildren, Billy,
Chelsea, Tyler, Corey, Emily and Gabrielle; and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services were Monday at Reece Funeral Home and Valley Chapel, with
Rev. Ricky Braden and Rev. Raymond Albright officiating. Music was presented
by the Ricky Braden Family, Elmer Wright and Elmer Harp. Burial was in the
Scott Cemetery with full military honors by the Volunteer State Guard.

STEVEN DURAN BLANKENSHIP, 43, passed away suddenly, Friday, Sept. 14, at his
home.
He was preceded in death by his father, Luther Blankenship.
He was survived by mother, Sallie Blankenship, of Jacksboro; brother, James
Teague, of Nashville; sister, Judy Ray, of Florida.
Funeral services were Sunday, Sept. 16 at Cross Chapel Funeral Home with
Reverend Don Reynolds officiating. Interment was on Monday, Sept. 17, at
Woodlawn Cemetery.

HERMAN BROWN, 81, of LaFollette, died on Friday, Sept. 14 at St. Mary's
Hospital of Campbell County.
He is preceded in death by his wife Betty Honeycutt Brown; son Mike Brown;
brother Everett; grandson Steve Brown; parents David and Alice Brown.
He is survived by daughters Alice Brown, Vanessa DuMont, Brenda Gail
Rutherford, Patricia Wilson all of LaFollette, Helen Horn of Jacksboro and
Melissa Wallace of LaFollette; sons Floyd "Bo" Brown of Nashville, Jack Brown
of Jacksboro, Herman Jr., Billy, Larry Rutherford and David Poteet, all of
LaFollette, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Sept. 19 at Roach Mortuary Chapel with Ronnie Arnold
officiating. Interment was at Campbell County Memorial Gardens.

JOHN L. CARSON, 49, of Kingsport, formerly of Caryville, passed away
suddenly, Monday, Sept. 10, in Kingsport. He was a Christian and retired
mechanic.
He was survived by wife, Helen Carson of Kingsport; son, John Lee Carson of
Kingsport; daughters, Crystal Carson of Caryville, Jessica Marcus of
Robbinsville, N.C.; grandchildren, Jacob Carson, Destiny Parker and Alexous
Marcus; parents, Dee and Nannie Ipox Carson of Caryville; brother, Timbo
Carson of Caryville; sisters, Hazel Wolf of Caryville and, Melissa Huckaby of
LaFollette.
Funeral service was Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Cross Chapel with Reverend Jobby
Byrge officiating.
Interment was Thursday, Sept. 20 , at Beech Fork Cemetery.

ETHEL CORDELL, 90, of LaFollette died on Sept. 17 at the Rockwood Health Care
Center in Rockwood. She was a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by husband Luther Cordell; stepson Clayton Cordell;
parents James M. and Margaret B. Ross Douglas and five brothers and six
sisters.
She is survived by son Paul Cordell of Rockwood, daughters Georgia Beaty of
Fort Pierce, Fl.a., Stella McNeeley of LaFollette, Juanita Johnson of
Jerysville Ill., Bonnie Brewster of Citrus, Fla.; stepson Luther Cordell Jr.
of Knoxville; stepdaughters Attrice Bullock of Knoxville, Mary Carmichael of
Lake Land Fla., Pernie Dodgen of Culman, Ala.
Funeral services were Sept. 20 in the Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Owen
Hatmaker officiating. Interment was Friday in Bakers Forge Cemetery.

CAROLYN (King) BETTY DAVIS, 62, of New Lebanon, formerly of White Oak, died
Sept. 17. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Lebanon.
She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Nannie (Williams) King;
son Rick Davis; brother, Edward King and sister Beulah Mozingo White.
She is survived by her husband Kenneth Davis; son Ed Davis of New Lebanon,
Ohio; brothers James A. Jr. King, Doyle E. King, all of LaFollette, Virgil L.
King of Wilmington, N. Car. .; sisters Lela Gordon of St. Mary's, Ohio, Irene
Porter of Peoria Ill. , Kathryn Napier of Brookville, Ohio, Doris Jeffers of
Rockwood and several grandchildren.
Funeral services were Sept. 20 at the First Baptist Church of New Lebanon
with Pastor James D. Whorton officiating. Interment was Friday at the Royal
Oak Memory Gardens.

HUSTON R. (Pete) DOSSETT, 79, died on Sept. 18, died. He was a member of the
First Baptist Church of LaFollette, LaFollette Masonic Lodge #623, F. &A.M.
and owner of Dossett Home Improvement Company. He was a veteran of WWII,
serving in England with the 8th Air Force. He flew 27 combat missions over
Germany as a gunner and crew chief on a B-17.
He is preceded in death by parents Thomas D. and Minnie Allen Dossett;
brothers Burgin, Otoo, Henry, Jeff and Bill; sisters Hattie L. Mills, Retha
Allen and Anna Davis.
He is survived by daughters Patsy Hensley of Danville, Ky., and Jill Dossett
of LaFollette; sons, Stephen Dossett of LaFollette; brothers Walter A.
Dossett and Franklin D. Dossett, all of LaFollette; sister Victoria Lane of
Orlando Fla., Addie Dodd of Birmingham, Ala., Mary Williams and Nannie Green
both of Knoxville, and Eleanor Northcutt of North Ridgeville Ohio; grandson,
Wesley Hensley of Danville, Ky., granddaughter Holly Hensley of Charlotte N.
Car.
Funeral services were Sept. 15 at Cross Chapel with Rev. Darryl Mefford and
Malcolm Wansley officiated. Interment was Sept. 16 at Mt. Zion Cemetery with
military honors presented by the Campbell County County Honor Guard. In lieu
of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Red Cross.

WALTER GREEN Sr., 72, of LaFollette, died on Sept. 16 at St. Mary's Medical
Center of Campbell County.
He is preceded in death by son Billy Green; parents Robert and Mary Smith
Green; brothers Clarence and James Green.
He is survived by wife Erma Green of LaFollette; sons Jerry, Ricky, Walter
Jr., Robert and Steven Green, all of Columbus, Ohio; daughters Penny Duncan
of Columbus, Ohio, Patricia Stoneburner of Columbus, Ohio; brothers George E.
Green of Loveland, Ohio, R.L. Green of LaFollette; sisters Alma Strugill of
LaFollette, Dorothy Maxwell of LaFollette, Cora Enix of Ft. Rickey, Fla.,
Bessie Hall of LaFollette, Lillie Vinsant of LaFollette.
Funeral services were Sept. 19 in the Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Steve
Bruce officiating. Interment was on Thursday in Wells Springs Cemetery.

FLORA MAY HOBBS, 85, of Columbus Ohio, formerly of LaFollette, died on
Sunday, Sept. 16 in Ohio. She was a retired Imperial Reading Corp. employee.
She is survived by daughters Maudie Partin of LaFollette, Polly Stivers of
Columbus, Ohio, Joann Givens of Cummings Ga., Earleen Charles of Columbus,
Alma Baird of LaFollette, Marilyn Scott of Columbus Ohio ; sons Carl Byrd of
Indianapolis and several grandchildren and great- grand children.
Funeral services were Sept. 18 at Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny
Gillum officiating. Interment was Sept. 19 in Jacksboro Cemetery.

FRANKLIN D. HUBBARD, 61, of Jellico died on Sunday, Aug. 12, at Missouri
Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, Mo.
Hubbard was a retired coal miner from Peabody Coal Company in Marissa, IL. He
was a member of the UMWA local #2412. He was also a member of the Apostolic
Light House Church of Willisville, IL.
He is preceded in death by parents William R. and Edith Owens Hubbard and son
Anthoney Hubbard.
He is survived by two sons, Peter Hubbard and wife Tina of Opdyke and Jeff
Hubbard and wife Lisa of Pinckneyville, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Richard
(Christian) Carlyle and Mrs. Tony (Sabrina) Stern, all of Coulterville, Ill.
; 14 grandchildren; one brother, Roosevelt Hubbard of Warren, Mich.
Funeral services were conducted at Wilson's Funeral Home in Sparta, with
Reverend Wendell Byers officiating. Burial was in Mueller Hill Cemetery, in
Pinckneyville.

AMANDA CAROLYN MCGHEE, 62, of LaFollette died Sunday, Sept. 16, at Fort
Sanders Park West in Knoxville. She was a member of Indiana Ave. Baptist
Church.
She was preceded in death by parents Clifford and Mary Katherine Longmire
Horne; sister Dorothy Wright; brothers James, Henry, Billy, and Charles Horne.
She is survived by daughter Michelle Smith of LaFollette; sister Mildred Pitt
of Knoxville, Wilma Jean Pitt of Knoxville, Mary Lee Horne of LaFollette.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 18, in the chapel of Martin Wilson
Funeral Home with Rev. Leonard Dabney officiating. In Lieu of flowers please

MILDRED RECTOR MCGHEE, 83, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Pioneer, died on
Sept. 14, at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. She was a member of Bethany
Baptist Church of Dayton.
She was preceded in death by son Carl McGhee; parents, Dewey and Linda
Rector; and brother, Harold Rector.
She is survived by sons, L.D. McGhee of Pioneer and Ronnie McGhee of Dayton,
Ohio; daughter, Jean Ann Madison, of Dayton, Ohio; brother, Gordon Rector, of
Caryville; sisters, Maxine Gibson, Barbara Stepp and Pauline Wright, all of
Caryville; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, Sept. 17, at Cross Chapel, with Rev. Tommy
Reese and Rev. Scott Bullman officiating. Interment was Tuesday, Sept. 18, at
Meredith Cemetery Stinking Creek.

FAY MCKAMEY, 58, of Caryville,, passed away Thursday, Sept. 13, at the St.
Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville. She was a member of the Ivy grove Baptist
Church in Caryville.
She was preceded in death by her father, Luther Tackett and grandparents,
Robert and Millie Tackett.
She is survived by: husband of 42 years, Roscoe McKamey of Caryville;
daughter, Nanette McKamey of Caryville; sons, Ronnie McKamey, Donnie, all of
Caryville; mother, Ella McGhee Tackett of Caryville; grandmother, Ollie
Griffin of Caryville; grandchildren, Amanda, Christopher, Preston, Elizabeth
and Austin; great-granddaughter, Katelyn; sister, Della Kitts of LaFollette;
brothers, Clay Tackett and wife Glenda of Englewood, TN, Ray Tackett of
Norris, Larry Tackett of Lake City, Laymond Tackett of Nashville.
Funeral services were Sunday, Sept. 16, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble
Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. Jimmy Rutherford and Rev. J.T. Leach
officiating. Interment was at the Campbell County Memorial Gardens.

GREEN SMITH, 68, of Speed well, died on Sept. 17 at his home. He was a member
of the Speed well Church of God.
He is preceded in death by brothers Tip, Grover, Dave and Wesley Smith;
sisters Ethel Helton, Gladys Brey, and Zelphie Fields.
He is survived by his wife Lorence Cobb Smith of Speedwell; sons Robby Smith,
Greg Smith all of Harrogate and Johnny Smith of Knoxville; daughters Sherry
Lawson of Cumberland Cap and Judy Paidousis of Maynardville and several
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Sept. 18 at Reece Valley Chapel with Rev. Leonard
Ellison and Rev. Dewayne "Kojak" Graves officiating. Interment was Sept. 13
at the Hill Cemetery.

PAUL VERNON VANN, 94, of Jellico died on Sunday, Sept. 16 at the Jellico
Community Hospital. He was a member of the Crouches Creek Baptist Church. He
served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was decorated with the Purple
Heart and two bronze stars.
He was preceded in death by parents Love and May Strange Vann; brothers
Ernest Vann, James Vann, W.L. Vann; sisters Ettie Hawkins, Ellen Robinson,
Bertha Brown, Myrtle Timmins and Irene Carter.
He is survived by wife Lettie Vann of Jellico; brother Edd Vann of
LaFollette; sister Lela Beams of Whitley City, KY.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 18 at the Crouches Creek Baptist Church
with Rev. Ellis Hoskins officiating. Interment was in the Huddleston Cemetery.
