GUYOMA DOUGLAS, 93, of Fernandina, formerly of Campbell County died on
Sunday, Sept. 2, in Florida. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by husband Rev. W.O. Douglas; sons Kenneth Earl and
Harold Dexter Douglas; parents James and Hannah Estep Lunsford.
She is survived by son Ralph Douglas of Fernandina Beach Fla; daughter Reba
Cain of Fairburn Ga; brother Randy Lunsford of Cincinnati Ohio; sister Viola
Parrott of LaFollette and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Thursday, Sept. 6 in Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev.
Ralph Cordell officiating. Interment was at Huddleston Cemetery in Jellico.

NANCY ELSIE GOINS, 81, of Jacksboro died on Sunday, Sept. 2, at U.T. Medical
Center of Knoxville. She was a member of the Glade Springs Baptist Church and
retired from Imperial Reading Corporation.
She is preceded in death by husband Onie Goins; daughter Jennie Vinsant; sons
Rev. Gene Goins and James Goins; parents William R. and Cora J. Wilson Paul;
sister Edith Sweat, and brothers Edgar Paul, James Robert, Paul and George I.
Paul.
She is survived by daughters Lucille McNeely of LaFollette, Ruth Scalf of
Galveston In., and Dianna Wilson of Jacksboro; son Lewis O. Goins of
LaFollette; sisters Carrie White of Lawrenceville Ga., Della Summers, Josie
McNeeley, Ann Wilson and Lois Wilson and several grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Aug. 29 at Glade Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Don
Reynolds and Rev. Larry Watts officiating. Interment was in Glade Springs
Cemetery.
Walters Funeral Home of LaFollette was in charge of arrangements.
ESTEL GULLEY, 63, of Dayton, Ohio, formally of Valley Creek, died Aug. 16 at
the Good Samatin Hospital of Dayton Ohio.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Nannie (Hatfield) Gulley;
sister Grace Hatfield; brothers Floyd and Lloyd Gulley.
He is survived by wife Carolyn Ruth (Leffew) Gulley; sons Steve, Jack and
Rick Gulley of Dayton; daughters Sharon Gulley of Clear Water Fla., Wilma
Young of Dayton, Ohio; brothers Roy Gulley of Reeceville Ohio, J.C. Gulley of
Brookville, Ohio, Ellis Gulley of White Oak, Elmer Gulley of Jellico, Charles
and Ernest Jr. Gulley, all of Clairfield and several grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Aug. 20 at Barnes Funeral Home with Pastor Kenneth
Brummett officiating. Interment was in Preble Memory Gardens in West
Alexandria, Ohio.
Barnes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
SALLIE HUDDLESTON, 82, of Indianapolis formerly of LaFollette, died Saturday,
Sept. 1, in Indianapolis. She was a member of the Church of Christ faith.
She is preceded in death by husband Harvey Huddleston; parents John Wesley
and Loucindy Sowders Mefford.
She is survived by sons Howard L. and Autry M. Tackett both of Indianapolis,
and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Sept. 5, in Martin Wilson Chapel with
Minister Tim Mefford officiating. Interment was in Turley Cemetery in
Caryville.

MARTHA JONES, 95, Williamsburg, Ky., died on Aug. 29 at her residence. She
was a member of the Big Popular Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by parents Llas and Betty Carr Lawson; husband Ben
Jones; daughters Ruby Jean Hatfield, Geneva Jones; grandchildren Dale
Robertson, Gene Silvers and Adam Siler.
She is survived by daughters Lena Jones Silvers, Leana Jones Fredericks, Lola
Jones and Mattie Jones Fraley all of Mud Creek, Ky., Arizona Jones Thompson
of Wyandotte; brothers Bill"Cody" Lawson of Lot, Ky., and several
grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday, Sept 1, at the Cox and Son Chapel with Rev.
Floyd Hale officiating. Interment was in the Anderson and Siler Cemetery.
Cox and Son was in change of the arrangements.
IDA KIRKLAND, 100, formerly of Westbourne and LaFollette, died Sunday, July
22, at Greenwood Manor Nursing Home in Xenia, Ohio. She was a member of
Indiana Avenue Baptist Church and Hope Council 95 of Daughters of America.
She was preceded in death by husband Rosco, sons Charles T.R. and Bill and
daughter Betty.
She is survived by sons Eugene Kirkland of Fairborn Ohio, Jack Kirkland of
Dayton, Ohio, and Frances of Alabama and Ada of Clinton. and 19
grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 32 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday, July 24, at Cross Funeral Home with the Rev.
Mark D. Partin officiating. Interment was at Sunrise Cemetery.
Cross Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
SUSIE C. MINOR, 76, Canton Ohio formerly of LaFollette, died Aug. 31 at her
home. She was retired from Craig Industries of 20 years. She was a member of
the Baptist faith.
She is preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Hattie Helen Brantley;
brothers Howard Brantley and Elmer Brantley; sisters Mossie Maxwell, Ore
Wilson, Lilly Miller, and Nannie Brantley.
She is survived by her husband Floyd Minor; daughters Frances L. Baer of
Jewett Ohio, Wilma J. Young of Baraboo Wis., Zella McClelland of Baraboo
Wis.; son Alfred Wayne Minor of Canton Ohio and several grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday in the Reed Funeral Home with Rev. Rick
Brinsley officiating. Interment was at the Warstler Cemetery.
HARRIET GERTRUDE MYNATT, 79, LaFollette, died on Aug 27 at the East Tennessee
Baptist Hospital in Knoxville. She was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist
Church.
She was preceded in death by parents James Henry and Surelda Nelson; brother
Tommy Mynatt.
She is survived by brothers Verlin Mynatt of LaFollette and Paris Mynatt of
Georgetown, Ky.; sisters Willie Bruce and Dora Hill and Leona Hatmaker, all
of LaFollette, Sally Wilhoit of Indianapolis and Kathleen Mynatt of Michigan.
Funeral services were Aug. 30 in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home
with Rev. Johnny Mynatt and Rev. J. L. Shoun officiating. Interment was in
the Baker's Forge Cemetery.

ELMER CECIL POWERS, 73, of LaFollette, died on Sept. 1 at his home. He was a
member and deacon of the West LaFollette Baptist Church and a member of the
church choir. He was an employee of CSX RailRoad.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Lillie York Powers; sisters
Avis Prewitt and Alice Davis; brothers Lloyd and Walter Powers.
He was survived by wife Kathleen Davis Powers; daughters Lois Collins of
LaFollette, Shirley Greenwood, Stella Heatherly and Edna Blackwell, all of
Jacksboro; son Carl Powers of Caryville; sisters Mary Smith of LaFollette and
Ellen Guy of Crossville; brothers Edwin and Clyde Powers and several
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Aug, 27 at Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Harold
Robbins and Rev. Jim Wilson and Rev. Bart Powers officiating. Interment was
at Woodlawn Cemetery.

MARY ELLEN WOODWARD YOAKUM, wife of the late Ralph J. Yoakum, of Jacksboro,
passed away Tuesday evening, August 28, at St. Mary's Medical Center of
Campbell Co. Prior to her illness, Mrs. Yoakum enjoyed a full and active
life. A Carson-Newman College graduate, she taught at Jacksboro Elementary
School for many years and after retirement she continued to teach piano and
organ lessons to numerous students. She also served as organist at Jacksboro
First Baptist Church for forty-five years, where she was a member. In
addition to her husband, Mrs. Yoakum was preceded in death by parents, Jesse
G. and Elizabeth Hale Woodward, her brother, J.G. Woodward, her sister,
Lucille Taylor.
She is survived by her niece, Libby & Tom Marshall of Clinton, nephew, Danny &
Saralee Taylor, of Knoxville, sisters-in-law: Freda Yoakum Byrd, Jacksboro,
Kathryn Yoakum Denney, Monticello, KY, Juanita Yoakum Haygood, Sumter, S.C.,
several other nieces and nephews.
The family received friends Friday evening 6:30 til 8:00 p.m. at Jacksboro
First Baptist Church with funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Campbell Memorial
Gardens.
