MATTIE PERRY AYERS, 93, of LaFollette Gardens died on Aug. 23 at LaFollette
Medical Center. She is the member of the Woodson Gap Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by husband Gillis Perry and sons Monroe and Cillis
Perry.
She is survived by daughters Flossie Rose of Scott County, Pauline Bell and
Irene Kicks, both of LaFollette, Maggie Ayers of Pioneer, Virgie Baird of
LaFollette, Ellen Dilbeck of Lake City; sons Woodrow Perry of Duff, Sam Perry
of LaFollette and Arvil Perry of Morley and several grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Aug. 26 at Walters Chapel with Rev. Pat Ayers
officiating. Interment was at Davis Cemetery.
Walters Funeral Home was in change of the arrangements.
LAWRENCE (Larry) BAKER, 70, of Toledo, Ohio, formerly of Jellico, died on
Aug. 27 at his home. He was a retired worker from Chrysler Jeep Corp. for 30
years in the paint department. He was a Korean War Veteran.
He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
He is survived by wife Virginia Baker; sons Rick Baker and Dick Baker;
daughters Beverly Swan, Jennifer Baker; sisters Mary Jones of Jellico, Ruby
Peno of Cincinnati, Ohio, Lousie Rush of Hamilton, Ohio, Thelma Cupp of
Hamilton Ohio, Susie McHarque of Covington, Ky., and Josie Makie of Corbin,
Ky.; brother Joe Baker of Hamilton Ohio.
Funeral services were at Toledo, Ohio. Interment was at Toledo Memorial Park
Cemetery.
Boyer-VanWormer-Sott Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
ROBERT REED HENDERSON Sr., 75, of Lake City died Aug. 22 at his home. He is a
retired service station manager and a certified motion picture projectionist.
He served as a Fireman First Class in the Navy during W W II where he earned
the American Area Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Area Ribbon and Victory Medal.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Eula Henderson; parents Robert Lewis and
Cindy Henderson.
He is survived by sons Bob Henderson of Clinton, David Henderson of Medford
and Paul Henderson of Andersonville; sister Bessie Mae Breeden of Maryville;
brother Harmon Lewis Henderson and several grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Aug. 23 at the Island Ford Cemetery with Rev. Wayne
Phillips officiating.
Cox-Martin Funeral Home of Lake City was in charge of the arrangements.
JAMES C. INMAN, 62, of Toledo died Aug. 13; He was a Paratrooper in the U.S.
Army Airborne Division.
He was preceded in death by his parents Burgeon Inman of LaFollette and Pansy
Jeffers of Newcomb; son James Jr.
He is survived by his wife Henrietta Inman; sons Joel, Jon, and Gregory
Inman; daughters Angela Marlow, Elizabeth Kozak, and Jennifer Lingohr; sister
Bertie Mae Inman of Dalton Ga. and several grandchildren.
Funeral services were Aug. 16 with Chaplain Carol Miller officiating.
Interment was at Toledo Memorial Park with the Lucas County Veterans Burial
Corps. Those wishing to make a contribution in memory of James are asked to
consider the Heartland Hospice.

JUSTIN TRAVIS LEACH, 17, of Lake City died Aug. 25 at his home. He was a
member of the First Baptist Church of Briceville and was a senior at Anderson
County High School.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents Harry and Mae Braden and
Thomas and Beulah Leach.
He is survived by mother Denise Rochelle Duncan of Lake City; father John T.
Leach Jr. and Karen of Caryville; brothers Brandon Scott Leach of Lake City
and Jordon Sharp of Caryville; sisters Kristi Graham of Clinton, Sonya Walden
of Clinton and Megan Sharp of Caryville; grandparents J. T. and Annie Leach
of Caryville, Perlie and Kay Duncan of Briceville.
Funeral services were at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Teague
officiating.

SANDRA SUE MOATS, 55, formerly of LaFollette died Aug. 18.
She was preceded in death by sons John and Baby Moats; parents the late
Robert and Carrie Jones and the late Ethel Dee, Howard, Harvey, Charlie,
Georgia Mae, Frances and Roscoe.
She is survived by Tamara Browning, Carrie Shepherd, Regina Thompson and
Jennifer Heinz; sisters Helen, Bonnie, Jean, Bobbie, Judy and several
grandchildren.
Funeral services were at Creek Road Baptist Church on Aug 22. Memorials may
be made at the American Cancer Society.

TONY ELLIS SHEWMAKER, 50, of Harrodsburg Ky. died on Aug. 26 at Vanderbilt
Hospital. He worked at Spirit Chevrolet and The Antique Mall. He was a member
of Harrodsburg Christian Church where he was the Service Class Sunday school
Teacher and Deacon. He served in the Navy.
He is preceded in death by mother Marie Ellis Shewmaker.
He is survived by wife Everice Shewmarker; father C. M. Shewmaker; sons Adam
Ellis Shewmaker and Matthew Blake Shewmaker; brother Calvin Shemaker III;
sister Linda Hood and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were on Aug. 29 at the Harrodsburg Christian Church with Don
Chase officiating. Interment was at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Memorials
are suggested to Harrodsburg Christian Church.

ETTA F. SMITH, 92, of LaFollette died at LaFollette Nursing Home. She is the
member of the LaFollette United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by husband Joe Emmitte Smith; brother Charles
William Fowler.
She is survived by daughter Lula Lee Claiborne of LaFollette and several
grandchildren.
Funeral Services were Aug. 22 at Walters Chapel. Interment was at Woodlawn
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in the LaFollette United
Methodist Church.

JAMES A. TIMMINS, 72, of Jellico died Aug. 24 at the Jellico Community
Hospital.
He is survived by sister Nellie Staggs of Cincinnati, Ohio; brothers Walter
Earl Timmins of Morristown Tenn., Iria Timmins of Fairfax, Harry Timmions of
Jellico.
Funeral services were Aug. 27 at the Lot Cemetery with Rev. Willie Partin
officiating. Military honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard.

ROBERT "Bob" VERMILLION, 69, of Jellico died Aug. 22 at his home. He was a
veteran and a member of the Jellico United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by parents Garland E. and Ida Anderson Vermillion;
wife Charlene Hayes Vermillion; sisters Ruth Marie Vermillion and Lillian
Davenport; brothers Charles Vermillion and Eugene Vermillion.
He is survived by sisters Betty Vermillion and Jane Church, all of Jellico.
Funeral services were held Aug. 24 at the Cox and Son Chapel with Rev. Wayne
Hedrick officiating. Interment was Aug. 25 in the Snyder-Vermillion Cemetery
Cox and Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
WILLIE "Bill" WORRILL, 72, of Lake City died on Aug. 26 at his home. He was
retired from United States Air Force and Department of Energy of Oak Ridge.
He is preceded in death by his mother Annie Berry Worrill; sister and three
brothers.
He is survived by wife Betty Jo Diggs Worrill of Lake City; daughters Sharon
Worrill of Lake City, Marianne Gremillion of Lake City, Donna Gail Robin of
Denham Springs of La.; son Roger Worrill of Slidell of Louisiana and three
sisters and one brother and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Aug. 29 at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City
with Rev. Larry Watts officiating.

JOYCE COLEEN WRIGHT, 75, Jacksboro at her home. She was a member of the
Midway Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her son Sherman Lynn Wright.
She is survived by daughters Helen Jean Bolton and Susie Wilson, all of
LaFollette, Dianne Pierce of Speedwell; sons Robin Wright and Michael Wright,
all of LaFollette, and Kyle Wright of Jacksboro; brother Leslie Williams of
Bradyville, Tenn.
Funeral services were Aug.24 at Midway Baptist Church with Rev. Leonard
Dabney and Rev. Doyle Worley officiating. Interment was at Bakers Forge
Cemetery.

MILLARD AYERS, Jr., age 76 of 336 White Rock Road, Jacksboro passed away
Thursday, August 16, 2001 at his home. Mr. Ayers was a loving father,
grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a US Navy Veteran having served in
World War II. He had a great joy for life. He was loved by all who knew him.
Mr. Ayers enjoyed mowing his yard, hunting, fishing and playing with all the
children in his neighborhood. He was a special man who will greatly be missed
by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by wife, Alice Shelby Ayers; son, Gary Ayers,
parents, Millard Sr., and Nellie Ayers; sister, Etta Ayers and brother Frank
Ayers.
Mr. Ayers is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Linda Ayers of
Dearborn Heights, MI; son, Roland Ayers of Stinking Creek; daughter Darlene
Michaels of IN; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Malcom Beach of
Jacksboro; 11 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Buddy and
Jack Ayers of Habersham and sister, Norma Jean Anderson of Jacksboro; several
nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his
passing.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Sunday, August 19, 2001 in the chapel of
Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Hobert McCreary and Rev. Ralph Cordell
officiating. Interment will be Monday, August 20, 2001 in Michigan Memorial
in Flat Rock, MI. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday
before services.

MARY ELLEN YOAKUM passed away Tuesday, August 28 at St. Mary's Medical Center
of LaFollette.
