LUTHER "Luke" LOUGH, 62, of Oliver Springs, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at
the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville.
Mr. Lough was born Dec. 12, 1938, in Anderson County, the son of Mikey and
Lena Smith Lowe, who are deceased. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam
War era.
He was employed as a supervisor for Waco Trucking for 18 years.
Mr. Lough was a member of Oliver Springs First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Debby Kelly Lough; two sons, Robby Lough of
Oliver Springs and Jessie Lough of Sevierville; four brothers, Leon Lough,
Alvin Lowe, Albert Lough and Lloyd Lough, all of Oliver Springs; and two
sisters, Gladys Hensley of Andersonville and Esther Parks of the Laurel Grove
community.
Mr. Lough is also survived by his mother-in-law, Barbara Kelly of Oliver
Springs; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joe Kelly Jr. and Vicki
Gaylor, both of Oliver Springs; and by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by another sister, Helen
Brown, and his father-in-law, Joseph Kelly.
The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, Aug. 29, at Oliver Springs First
Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Rutherford officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at Oak
Ridge Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the church.
Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs is handling arrangements.

BECKY HOLBROOK BUSH, 54, of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001 at
Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
She was born May 27, 1947 in Johnson City.
She was a member of Woodland Park Baptist Church, but had also retained her
membership in the Mary Martin Memorial Presbyterian Church in Coeburn, Va.
Mrs. Bush's family said she was a dedicated member of the Order of the
Eastern Star, Local Chapter No. 390 for almost 25 years where she observed
the principles of charity, truth and loving kindness. She served as worthy
matron in 1983 and 1984 and as grand instructor in 1987­1990.
She was president of the Good Neighbor's Club and also served as treasurer
for many years of the Past Matrons and Patrons Club.
Mrs. Bush was employed with Cumberland Neurology Group. From 1984 to 1988,
she worked for Dr. William Molony, at which time Covenant Health took over.
She continued her position as medical practice manager.
Through her work she was active in the Professional Association of Health
Care Office Managers; the American Academy of Professional Coders; the
Tennessee Medical Group Management Association; the Knoxville Area Medical
Group Management Association; and served as past committee member of the Oak
Ridge Chamber of Commerce.
Mrs. Bush is survived by her husband, Danny Lee Bush; two sons, Andrew Coy
Bush of Knoxville and Michael David Bush, a student at East Tennessee State
University in Johnson City; and her mother, Samantha Elizabeth Holbrook of
Coeburn.
The funeral services will be at 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, in the chapel of
Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Ronnie Jones and the Rev. Herbert Lee
officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at Temple Hill
Memorial Park in Castlewood, Va. Pallbearers will be Terry Brown, Randy
Smith, Jeff Wilken, Taylor Smith, Jason Williams, Steve Gann, Greg Martin and
Travis Watson. Other friends will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to Hospitality
House of Methodist Medical Center, P.O. Box 2529, Oak Ridge, TN 37831.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary,
with an Eastern Star service at 8.

ANNA LYLE SHULTZ GOTTLIEB, 81, of Norris, died of lung cancer Wednesday, Aug.
22, 2001, at her home.
Born Jan. 25, 1920, in Lexington, Va., she was the daughter of Ted and
Virginia Barclay Shultz. She came to Norris with her parents in 1935 and was
among the third graduating class of Norris High School.
She completed nurses training at the old Knoxville General Hospital in 1942,
and served as a lieutenant junior grade in the U.S. Navy nurses corps during
World War II.
A poet, student pilot and archery champion, she married U.S. Navy Chief
Edward G. Gottlieb in 1949.
The couple lived in Norfolk, Va., Memphis, Inyokern, Calif., Patuxent River,
Md., Jacksonville, Fla., and Atlanta, Ga., before returning to Norris.
Mrs. Gottlieb pursued her registered nursing career in nearly every field of
nursing, including serving as administrator of a ground-breaking high risk
maternity ward at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.
Her husband died in 1997.
A tireless supporter of worthy causes, Mrs. Gottlieb served as a negotiator
of the nurses' first contract with Methodist Memorial Hospital during her 13
years there as a registered nurse.
Mrs. Gottlieb was a founding member of the inter-faith Norris Religious
Fellowship church.
She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Gottlieb Hirsen; her granddaughters,
Rachel Else and Molly Ann Hirsen; two sisters, Elizabeth Shultz of Norris and
Virginia Wiley of Clemson, S.C.; her brother, Ted Shultz Jr. of Ann Arbor,
Mich.; six nieces and nephews; and 15 grandnieces and grandnephews.
The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to the American
Cancer Society.

HELEN CONNER LANE, 83, of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001, in
Georgia after a long illness with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born June 23, 1918, in Wilmington, Del. She married James Arthur Lane
in 1942 and moved to Oak Ridge in 1943.
Mrs. Lane was a noted athlete during her years in Oak Ridge and at various
times, she was a champion tennis player, golfer, badminton player and bowler.
She was also actively involved in duplicate bridge and she loved sailing on
Watts Bar Lake.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Fox and her husband, Charles, and
Judy Hayes and her husband, Scott, all of Flowery Branch, Ga.; two sons, Jim
Lane and his wife, Cay, of Maui, Hawaii, and Rick Lane and his wife, Rhonda,
of Martinez, Ga.; and by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at Mrs. Lane's
former home on Watts Bar Lake.
The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to the
Alzheimer's Association, Eastern Tennessee Chapter, 600 Henley St., Suite 50,
Knoxville, TN 37902.

VIOLET BRADEN KENDIG, 81, of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001 at the
Northeast Medical Center in Concord, N.C.
She was born Oct. 24, 1919 in Andersonville, the daughter of McKinley Braden
Sr. and Ora Disney Braden. She was a graduate of Lake City High School and
had lived in Oak Ridge since 1943.
Mrs. Kendig retired from the Oak Ridge Hospital where she was a licensed
practical nurse.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church and had worked in the Caring
Center of the church.
Mrs. Kendig sang with the Sweet Adelines group and she also enjoyed cooking,
sewing, flowers and gardening.
She was the widow of Avery Franklin Kendig Sr., who died Aug. 24, 1987.
Mrs. Kendig is survived by three daughters, Annette Piper and her husband,
Charlie, of Concord, N.C., Barbara Young and her husband, Larry, of Oak Ridge
and Brenda Pickens and her husband, Earle, of Gainesville, Fla.; her son,
Franklin Kendig and his wife, Judy, of Honolulu, Hawaii; one brother,
McKinley Braden Jr. and his wife. Mildred, of Knoxville; and two sisters,
Audrey Livingston and her husband, Bob, of Powell and Jeanette Dake and her
husband, Don, of Nashville.
She is also survived by six grandchildren, Julie Poole of King, N.C., Karen
Pearson of Concord, N.C., Leigh Monger of Oak Ridge, Keith Young of Knoxville
and David Pickens and Dr. Brian Pickens, both of Gainesville; seven
great-grandchildren, Brian Poole and Taylor Poole, both of King, Katie
Pearson, Kelsey Pearson and Kristen Pearson, all of Concord, and Steven
Monger and Merritt Monger, both of Oak Ridge; and numerous nieces and
nephews, to whom she was known as "Aunt Violet."
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, in the chapel of
Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Bob Gray officiating.
Burial will follow at noon at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to Central
Baptist Church Caring Center, 130 Providence Road, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at the
mortuary.

WILLIAM "Bill" BLAC, 66, of Powell, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Blanc was born Oct. 8, 1934, in Knox County, the son of Louise J. Blanc
of Jefferson City and Hugh W. Blanc, who is deceased.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and had worked in motor product sales for 38
years.
Mr. Blanc was a member of Clear Branch Baptist Church in Lake City. He was a
32nd degree Mason and a member of Powell Masonic Lodge where he had served as
a past master.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Ethel Carden Blanc;
his daughter, Cindy Walker and her husband, Kevin, of Seminole, Fla.; three
sons, Eddie Blanc and his wife, Lisa, of Knoxville, and Mike Blanc and Bub
Blanc, both of Seminole; six grandchildren; four stepchildren; and nine
step-grandchildren.
Mr. Blanc is also survived by two sisters, Jackie Kerr and her husband,
Malcolm, of Marietta, Ga., and Carolyn Davis and her husband, Ralph, of
Knoxville; two brothers, John Blanc of Jefferson City and Tom Blanc of
Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by another sister, Charlotte
Neighbert.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at Norris
Memorial Gardens in Norris with the Rev. Rick Teague and the Rev. Lynn Mowery
officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at
Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton.

SYBIL FRANCES PRICE, 76, of the Marlow community, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001
at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Price was born May 1, 1925, in Anderson County, the daughter of Hamilton
Clark Courtney and Daisy Lenora Hackworth Courtney, who are deceased.
She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church.
Mrs. Price is survived by her husband, William Link Price. The couple would
have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in October.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Price is survived by a son, William Gordon
Price and his wife, Kay, of Andersonville; her daughter, Sybil Sharon Ridge
and her husband, James, of Kingston; and five grandchildren, Clay Price and
his companion, Cherie Barber, and Dennis Price and his wife Vickie, all of
Newnan, Ga., Glynna Jackson and her husband, Jeff, of Andersonville, Brigette
Jolly and her husband, Michael, of Kingston, and Tim Owens and his wife,
Scarlett, of Oliver Springs.
She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, Kimmie Jackson and Katie
Jackson, both of Andersonville, Lexy Jolly and Dalton Jolly, both of
Kingston, Brad Price, Courtney Price, Kristen Carden, Jamie Carden and Summer
Price, all of Newnan, and Justin Owens, Magan Hendrickson and Blair
Hendrickson, all of Oliver Springs.
Faye Price of Newnan was considered a close friend.
The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, in the chapel of
Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Glen Poston officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at Anderson
Memorial Gardens, 640 Oliver Springs Highway, near Marlow community.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.

GLADYS IONA DANIEL HERRELL, 71, of Claxton, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at
her home.
Mrs. Herrell was born March 9, 1930, in McMinn County, the daughter of Alden
A. and Mary Corvin Daniel, who are deceased.
She was the widow of Albert W. Herrell, to whom she was married for 35 years.
Mrs. Herrell was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Heiskell. She enjoyed
the outdoors and fishing, her family said.
She is survived by her sons, Danny E. Herrell and his wife, Kathy, and Steve
E. Herrell and his wife, Lillis; her daughter, Brenda H. Bennett and her
husband, James; six grandchildren, Janet Bennett Bryant, Christie Bennett
Bethel, Sandy Herrell, Amanda Bennett Arnold, Amy Herrell and Sheana Herrell;
three great-grandchildren, Caleo James Bethel, Sarah Lynn Bethel and Abigail
Marie Bethel; and several nieces and nephews, including a niece she
considered special, Billy Sue Rozell.
Doris Medved was considered a special friend.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Herrell was preceded in death by
eight brothers and sisters.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at Zion
Baptist Church Cemetery in Claxton with the Rev. Harold Ogle officiating.
Mrs. Herrell's nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Tennessee Children's Hospital, Oncology Department, P.O. Box 15010,
Knoxville, TN 37901.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight, Aug. 29, at Woodhaven
Funeral Home in Claxton.

JUANITA ELIZABETH MCNABB, 76, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., died Monday, Aug. 27,
2001, at her home.
Born in Knoxville, she was a former resident of Oak Ridge and was a retired
accountant from the Atomic Energy Commission, predecessor to the Department
of Energy. She had worked for the AEC for 30 years.
Mrs. McNabb had lived in Port St. Lucie for the past 24 years. For 20 of
those years, she was employed with Palm Realty. She was an active member of
The Saints and Sinners Yacht Club and a member of the Sandpiper Bay
Homeowners Association.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Charles McNabb; her brother, Jack
Chapman and his wife, Loretta, of Nashville; her sister, Evon Lively and her
husband, Frank, of Knoxville; one granddaughter; two grandsons; and one
great-granddaughter.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Aug. 29, at Young &
Prill Funeral Home, 1170 SW Bayshore Blvd., Port St. Lucie.
Burial will be at Union Cemetery in Newport.

HOWARD ALLEN of Nashville, brother of David Allen of Oak Ridge, died
Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at a hospice in Nashville.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete. A full obituary will be printed at a
later date.

ROY BUNDY, 65, of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001 at his home.
Weatherford Mortuary is handling the arrangements, which were incomplete this
morning.
