MARY E. BAIRD AYERS, 86, of LaFollette died on Saturday, Aug. 11, at Fort
Sanders Medical Center of Knoxville. She was a charter member of the
Stanfield Church of God where she served as church clerk for 52 years, and
Sunday School Teacher for over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by husband Lewis Ayers; sisters Rose and Gracie;
brothers Joseph Luther Baird and Lee Baird; half-brother Roscoe Baird;
half-sister Ruby.
She is survived by sister Millie Knight of Copperas Cove, Texas, and
half-sister Lucille Douglas of Washington State.
Funeral services were Aug 15 at Stanfield Church of God with Rev. Ron Bruce
and Rev. Delmus Bruce officiating. Interment Melvin Cemetery.
Walters Funeral Home of LaFollette was in charge of the arrangements.
JOHN HOWARD DOTSON, 82, of Maryville, formerly of Jellico, died Tuesday, Aug
7, at Blount Memorial Hospital of Maryville.
He is survived by wife Lola Leach Dotson; sons Ted Dotson of Pensacola
Florida, Larry Dotson of Harrogate; daughters Marilyn Rhea of Sevierville,
Linda Russell of Maryville and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Aug 9 at Cox and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Ronald
Bailey officiating. Interment was Aug 10 at the Clearfork Cemetery.
Cox and Son Funeral Home of Jellico was in charge of the arrangements.
ROBERTA HENEGAR LACKEY, 86, of LaFollette died Saturday, Aug 11, at Serene
Manor Medical Center of Knoxville. She was a member of Augustan Lutheran
Church of Denver, Colo.
She was preceded in death by husband Roland Lackey; father and mother Wheeler
and Maggie Henegar; sister Ruella Henegar and Lucy Stooksbury; brothers Earl,
Frank, Floyd (Pete), Mack and David Henegar.
She is survived by sister Anna Mae Lane of Clinton; brothers C.B. (Johnny)
Henegar of LaFollette and Retired Major William Howard Henegar of Clinton.
Funeral services were Sunday at Walters Chapel with the Rev. Michael Henegar
officiating. Interment was at the Fincastle Cemetery.
Walters Funeral Home was in charge in arrangements.
TRULA MARGARET MILES, 67, of Briceville died on Thursday, Aug. 9 at, the
Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was a member of the Free
Pentecostal Church of God and a member of Eastern Star Coal Creek Chapter
#223.
She was preceded in death by parents Harvey and Vaudie Daniels, granddaughter
Summer Hembree, brothers Ronnie and Roy Daniels.
She is survived by husband Sammy Miles of Briceville; son William Michael and
Louise Miles of LaFollette and Mark Miles of Clinton; daughter Teresa Hammons
of Etowah ; brother Jackie Daniels of Detroit, Doug Daniels of Mich.,
Arizona, Arnold Daniels of Clinton, Ralph Daniels and Darris Daniels of
Briceville, David Daniels of Oak Ridge; sisters Joann Webber of Clinton,
Daisy Turner of Kentucky, Kathy Burris of Briceville, Patsy Jarnigan of
Clinton, Kathie Fox of Briceville, Dimple Trail of Briceville.
Funeral services were August 11 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City
with Rev. Gerald Bonnett and Houston Carroll officiating. Interment was at
Anderson Memorial Gardens in Clinton.
Holley-Gamble Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
MARY KATHRINE (Kate) MILLER, 98, of LaFollette died Saturday, Aug 11, at
LaFollette Nursing Home. She was a member of Fincastle United Methodist
Church.
She was preceded in death by husband Sam F. Miller; son Sam F. Miller Jr.;
father John R. Chapman; mother Nettie Carnes Chapman; brothers Clarence A.
Chapman, Charles Chapman, Joe McPhetridge Chapman, Fred Chapman, John Henry
Chapman, Roy Chapman, and Howard Chapman; sisters Mildred Louise Chapman and
Edna Mae Chapman.
She is survived by brother Edwin B. Chapman.
Funeral services were at Walters Chapel with Rev. Don Reynolds officiating.
Interment was at Glade Springs Cemetery.

ODESSA "Dessie" PHILLIPS, 87, of Lake City died Friday, Aug. 10, at her home.
She was a member of the Fratersville Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Phillips; sons Raymond
Phillips and Billy Phillips; brothers Thomas Byrge, Eli Byrge, Jasper Byrge,
Raymond Byrge, Calaway Byrge, William (Billy) Byrge, Esau Byge, James Byrge,
Redden Byrge, Alex Byrge, Bratcher Byrge, Jacob Byrge, John Byrge, Bob Byrge,
Jinn Byrge, Jake Byrge; sister Delnia Adkins, Amanda Ward, Linda Thomas,
Della Davis, Mary Byrge, Elizabeth Byrge, Priscilla Byrge, Nancy Byrge,
Martha Byrge and Mandy Byrge.
She is survived by daughters Louise Neal of Oak Ridge, Stella Thomas of Lake
City; sons Elmer Phillips of Clinton, Coy Phillips of Briceville, and Lester
Phillips of Florida; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Sunday at the White House Baptist Church in Beech Fork
with Rev. Jobby Byrge and Rev. Lee Phillips officiating. Interment was at the
White House Baptist Church Cemetery in Beech Fork, Tenn.
Cox and Martin Funeral Home of Lake City was in charge of arrangements.
MARY AGNES SUMMERS, 81, of LaFollette died Monday, Aug. 13, at St. Mary's
Medical Center of LaFollette. She was a member of Long Hollow Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by husband Dudley H. Summers; parents James and
Minnie Harris Wells; brothers Conley, Winford, and Carl Wells; sister Opal
Green.
She is survived by sons Millard and David of Knoxville, and James of
LaFollette; brothers Milas and Ed Wells of LaFollette; sisters Earsel
Shoffner of LaFollette and Ruby Parker of Toledo, Ohio, and several
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Aug. 15 at the Baker's Forge Cemetery with Brother Carl
Bradshaw officiating. In lieu of flowers, make a donation at Baker's Forge
Cemetery.
Martin Wilson Funeral Home of LaFollette was in charge of the arrangements.
JOYCE BEELER UNDERWOOD, 59, of LaFollette died Wednesday, Aug. 8, at St.
Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a member of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon).
She is preceded in death by parents Joe and Pearl McCarty Beeler; brother
Wonnie Beeler; sister Judy Sharp.
She is survived by daughter Veronica Campbell of Marrietta Ga. Buffy Monday
of LaFollette; sons Jeffery Riggs, Duane Riggs, and Gregory Riggs of
LaFollette; brothers Conley and Bruce Beeler of Dayton, Ohio; Ruben Beeler of
Fountain, Ohio, and Ronnie Beeler of LaFollette; sisters Lois Taylor Abney of
Dayton, Ohio, Imogene Overbay of Florida, Betty Carroll of LaFollette and
several grandchildren.
Funeral services were Aug. 10 at Martin Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with
President Eugene Muggridge officiating. Interment followed at Sunrise
Cemetery.
