COLO HOMER BEAN Sr., 82, of Clinton, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at his home
after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Bean, known to his friends and family as "C.H." or "Colo," was born July
7, 1919, in Campbell County. He served with the U.S. Army Air Force and was
honorably discharged at Fort Sheridan, Ill.
He was a career carpenter. His family said he loved working with his hands
and worked diligently for approximately 40 years, stopping only when illness
forced him into retirement in 1992.
Although bedridden for 10 years, he loved life, according to his family, who
said that next to his love for building was his love for gardening and that
rosebushes of all colors and kinds were his passion. He seemed to have been
blessed by God with the gift of making beautiful things with his hands, they
said.
No matter how hard life got, his family said, he always had an inner strength
and never complained about the situations he encountered. During his last
days, his eyes were fixed on God and his home in heaven, they said, adding
that his testimony was strong and that he has left them with no doubt as to
the assurance of his salvation and the fact that he is now with God. They
said they will miss him but do not grieve his passing.
Mr. Bean was saved at Macedonia Baptist Church near Jacksboro at an early
age. He served for a time as deacon at Jarnigan Chapel Baptist Church in
Clinton.
Along with his family, he sang gospel songs in local churches and on radio
station WYSH for many years. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in
