BEAN, COLO HOMER, SR. - Born July 7, 1919 in Campbell County, Tennessee. He
was known as "C.H." or "Colo" by friends and family members. He passed away
at approximately 3:25 p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2001, after a lengthy
illness. C.H. was saved at Macedonia Baptist Church near Jacksboro, Tennessee
at an early age. He served for a time as Deacon at Jarnigan Chapel Baptist
Church in Clinton. He, along with his family, sang gospel songs in local
churches and on WYSH Radio for many years. He was a member of Emmanual
Baptist in Claxton. C.H. served his country with The U.S. Army-Air Force and
was honorably discharged at Ft. Sheridan, Illinois. C.H. was a career
Carpenter. He loved working with his hands and worked diligently for
approximately 40 years. He stopped only when illness forced him into
retirement in 1992. Although bed ridden for 10 years, he loved life. Next to
his love for building was his love for gardening. Rose bushes of all colors
and kinds were a passion to him. It seemed God blessed him with the gift of
making beautiful things with his hands. No matter how hard life got, he
always had an inner strength and he never complained about the situations he
encountered during his life. During his last days on earth, his eyes were
fixed on God and his home in Heaven. His testimony was strong and he leaves
his family with no doubts as to the assurance of his salvation and the fact
that he is with God our Father, even now. We will miss him, but we do not
grieve his passing. On the contrary, we rejoice with him for he has bridged
the last gap and begun eternity with our Lord. C.H. was married to Opal Mae
Howard in 1951. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 18th
of this year. He is survived by his wife, Opal; daughter, Oney Mae Vinsant
and husband, Fred, of Clinton; sons, Toney K. Bean of Clinton and C.H., Jr.
and wife, Lisa, of Claxton; six grandchildren, Steven Brown, Jr., Melissa
Cooke, Trevor Bean, Alexis Bean, Daniel Bean and Sarah Bean; three
great-grandchildren, Tracey Lynn Cooke, Matthew Cooke and Jo Jo Brown;
sister, Elvena Howard; brothers, Elvin and Andrew Bean and several nieces and
nephews. Funeral service will be 8:30 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2001 at
Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with Rev. Jackie Bunch, Rev. Don
Ambrose and Rev. Jack Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends
7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Graveside
service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at Grandview Memorial Garden in Clinton. If
C.H. could speak to you today, I believe he would say, "Please accept Jesus
Christ as your Savior and Lord. Don't wait too late. I want my friends, loved
ones and all that will to meet me in Heaven. We have an eternity to spend
together. I'll wait for you near our Savior. I have begun eternity with our
Lord. I wait for you. Please come. Please."
