EARLINE KINNEY LYONS, 76, of Oak Ridge, died Monday, June 11, 2001, at the
University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville.
Mrs. Lyons was born April 27, 1925, in Phenix City, Ala., the daughter of
Alvin and Laura Virginia West Kinney. She was a homemaker and a member of
Temple Baptist Church of Powell.
She was an avid bingo player. Her family said she served as the driver for
many of her friends at Callaghan Towers for local errands and shopping.
>From the age of 12 to about the age of 45, Mrs. Lyons sang professionally in
the Phenix City gospel group, The Kinney Trio.
She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Luzader and her husband, William,
of Oak Ridge, and Kathryn Boggs and her husband, Randal, of Knoxville; her
brother, Jack Kinney and his wife, Agatha, of Phenix City; and her sisters,
Katherline Moye, her twin, and her husband, Gordon, of Columbus, Ga., and
Ruth Holloway and her husband, Ralph, of Phenix City.
Mrs. Lyons is also survived by five grandchildren, John Michael Kemp and his
wife, Cheri, of Strawberry Plains, Robert Alan Kemp and Jason Thomas Kemp,
both of Oak Ridge, and Angela Whitley and Heather Carroll and her husband,
Shawn, all of Knoxville; four step-grandchildren, Bill Luzader III and Becky
Luzader, both of Oak Ridge, Angela Boggs of Johnson City, and Melissa Bull
and her husband, James, of Norfolk, Va.; four great-grandchildren, Megan
Ashley Kemp, Lauren Moody, Logan Moody and Braden Carroll; and many nieces,
nephews and other relatives.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14, in the chapel of
Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Clarence Sexton officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at the
mortuary.

LOUISE ROSE RIOPEL BURNETTE, 71, of Clinton, died Monday, June 11, 2001, in
Alabama.
Mrs. Burnette was born Nov. 19, 1928, in Worcester, Mass., the daughter of
William and Elizabeth Riopel, who are deceased.
She married Edward Sams Burnette on Nov. 22, 1952, in Worcester. Mr.
Burnette, who died earlier, was retired from the Oak Ridge K-25 Site.
Mrs. Burnette had been an active member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, the
Bridge Club and the Clinton Jaycettes. She was a charter member of St.
Therese Catholic Church in Clinton.
She is survived by four children, Steve Burnette and his wife, Rebecca, of
Ten Mile, Deck Burnette and his wife, Anita, of Owensboro, Ky., Joanne
Hightower and her husband, George, of Rainbow City, Ala., and Mike Burnette
and his wife, Sherri, of Iowa City, Iowa; and nine grandchildren, Rachel
Burnette, Allison Burnette, Adriene Burnette, Ashley Burnette, Jessica
Hightower, George Hightower, Matt Burnette, Tom Burnette and Scott Burnette.
The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to the
Building Fund at St. Therese Catholic Church, 701 S. Charles Seivers Blvd.,
Clinton, TN 37716.

CARL E. FOUST, 59, of Andersonville, died Monday, June 11, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Foust was born Oct. 9, 1941, in Anderson County, the son of Everette and
Maureen Ezell Foust, who are deceased.
He had worked as a sheet metal welder prior to his illness and he was a
member of Sheet Metal Union Local No. 5 in Knoxville.
He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Clinton.
Mr. Foust is survived by his wife, Patricia Foust; his children, Donna
Hunsucker and her husband, Chris, and Cathy Miller and her husband, Bill, all
of Clinton, and Carla Foust and Edward Foust, both of Andersonville; and his
grandchildren, Patrick Foust and Polly Rickey, both of Andersonville, and
Carlie Hunsucker of Clinton.
He is also survived by his sister, Jeanette Miller and her husband, Junior,
and son Ken, all of Halls; his brother, Kenneth Foust and his wife, Barbara,
and sons Scotty and Paul, all of Andersonville; and his brother-in-law, Bill
Disney and his wife, Carol, and son Paul, all of Lake City.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by another daughter,
Julie Foust.
The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, in the chapel of
Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Bill Ellis officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 14, at Norris
Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral
home.

MICKEY C. JENNINGS, 76, of Clinton, died Sunday, June 10, 2001, at the
University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville after a short battle with
cancer.
Mr. Jennings is survived by his wife, Delores Jennings; his son, Michael D.
Jennings and his wife, Teresa, of Clinton; his daughters, Linda Braden and
her fiancé, Randy Lindsay, of Lake City and Shareen Lowry and her husband,
Russell, of Lafayette, Ind.; his stepson, Don Miller of Paris, Tenn.; his
sister, Louise Brittle and her husband, Bud, of Clinton; and by six
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, June 12, in the chapel of Anderson
County Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Curtis Nolan officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, at
Jarnigan Chapel Cemetery in Clinton.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

SEALS PHILLIP BURBAGE, 79, of Birmingham, Ala., died Sunday, June 3, 2001, in
Birmingham.
Mr. Burbage was retired from The Foundry at ACIPCO, where he had worked for
45 years.
He was a longtime volunteer for the American Red Cross and a member of
Huffman United Methodist Church in Birmingham.
Mr. Burbage is survived by his daughters, Janice B. Lawless of Birmingham,
Phyllis Blake and her husband, Ed, of Gardendale, Ala., and Cynthia Smith and
her husband, Ric, of Muscatine, Iowa; his daughter-in-law, Sidney R. Burbage
of Gardendale; his sisters, Elmyra Morrison of Oxford, Ala., and Emma Belle
Burbage of Gardendale; and his brothers, Charles H. Burbage and his wife,
Myrtle, of Oak Ridge, and William B. Burbage and his wife, Ruth, of Cropwell,
Ala.; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Juanita Burbage, and his son,
Seals P. Burbage III.
The funeral was held Wednesday, June 6, in the chapel of Jefferson Memorial
Funeral Home in Trussville, Ala., with the Rev. J. Mark Hughes and Dr. Harris
Hand officiating.
Burial followed at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East.

MARGIE GLORINE LEMARR, 80, of Clinton, died Monday, June 11, 2001, at her
home.
Mrs. LeMarr was born Sept. 29, 1920, in Anderson County, the daughter of
Charlie Leonard and Lura Hansard Coker.
She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church in Clinton.
Mrs. LeMarr was the widow of William Wesley LeMarr.
She is survived by her sons, Charles David LeMarr and William Jerry LeMarr
and his wife, Evelyn, all of Clinton, and Bobby LeMarr and his wife, Noreen,
of Knoxville; her daughter, Nancy Pope and her husband, Wayne, of Kingston;
her grandchildren, Mark LeMarr and his wife, Valerie, of Clinton, Kelly
LeMarr Lawson and her husband, Tim, Tara Adkins and her husband, Greg, and
Brandon LeMarr and his fiancée, Kelly Bissinger, all of Knoxville, and Kim
Lindsey and her husband, Jim, of Andersonville; and four great-grandchildren,
Andrea LeMarr, Alexandra LeMarr, Tyler Lawson and Blake Lawson.
Mrs. LeMarr is also survived by her sisters, Bonnie Long of Heiskell, Goldie
Vandergriff of Halls and Edna Welch and her husband, Albert, of Maynardville;
her brother, Clyde Coker and his wife, Myrtle, of Maynardville; and several
nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank her caregivers, Cheryl Lively and Lynn Schaeffer.
In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. LeMarr was preceded in death
by another sister and three brothers, Lucy Stanley, Woodrow Coker, Bob Coker
and Omer Coker.
The funeral will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, in the chapel of
Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14, at
Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the
funeral home.

FRANK FOUST, 58, of Eagleville, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at the Veterans
Administration Hospital, Alvin C. York campus, Murfreesboro. He had lived at
the center since becoming disabled while serving with the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Foust was born Dec. 22, 1942, in Anderson County, the son of Siegel and
Bertha Melton Foust. His father lives in Anderson County and his mother is
deceased.
He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Lake City. He enjoyed fishing
and raising vegetables, his family said.
In addition to his father, Mr. Foust is survived by his daughters, Vivian
Foust of Lake City, JoAnne Foust of Clinton and Angela Lowery of Knoxville;
his stepdaughter, Crystal Martin of Clinton; his brothers, Norman Foust, Kyle
Foust, Stanley Foust, Jewel Foust, Ralph Foust and Clayton Foust, all of
Anderson County; and his sisters, Sue Moore of Maryville and Joan Mathes of
Anderson County.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Micheal Foust, Ashley Lowery,
Amanda Lowery, Jonathan Craft, Britnie Brantley, Christopher Jones and
Summier Foust; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Foust was preceded in death by his wife,
Bonnie Lindsay Foust; his grandparents, Rufus and Lillie Vermillion Foust and
James and Mary Jane Hatmaker Melton; and an infant sister, Vivian Foust.
The funeral was held Monday night, June 11, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble
Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Charlie Mac Marlow officiating.
A graveside service was to be held at 11 this morning, June 12, at Foust
Cemetery in Andersonville. Members of the East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard
Full were to conduct full military rites.

JACK KELSEY EAST of Oak Ridge died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Methodist
Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mr. East was born Feb. 10, 1913, in Columbia, S.C. He grew up in Chattanooga
and attended schools there.
He was retired as an engineer in the Chemistry Division at Oak Ridge National
Laboratory.
Mr. East is survived by his wife, the former Beulah Benton Sinkhorn; his
sons, James, Charles and Harold; his daughter, Susan; nine grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The body was donated to the Department of Anatomy, the University of
Tennessee Medical Units in Memphis.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, June 25, at St. Stephen's
Episcopal Church, 212 N. Tulane Ave.
The family has requested no flowers.

BETTY JANE STEMBERG, 75, of Farragut, died Saturday morning, June 9, 2001, at
Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville of hepatitis C.
Mrs. Sternberg had been a member of Second Presbyterian Church in Knoxville
since 1977 and was involved for many years in delivering food for the FISH
food program.
She also worked on several Habitat for Humanity homes with fellow churchgoers
and was a member of the Presbyterian Women's Association. Her family said she
enjoyed the fellowship of the church's bridge group, which she helped lead
for a year, and for many years she enjoyed the fellowship of the church's
Mariners group.
Mrs. Sternberg loved to play golf and for many years she was a member of
Deane Hill Country Club and later, Fox Den Country Club, both in Knoxville.
Failing heath kept her from playing as much as she would have liked. She had
also served as a volunteer score keeper for the Ben Hogan tournaments for
several years.
She is survived by her husband, Ed Sternberg, a former resident of Oak Ridge;
her son, Jeff Speller and his wife, Pat, of Indianapolis, Ind.; her stepsons,
Michael Sternberg and his wife, Jan, of Anacortes, Wash., Steve Sternberg and
his wife, Lorrie, of Pocatello, Idaho, and Paul Sternberg and his wife, Liz,
of Chesterfield, Ind.; and her stepdaughters, the Rev. Terrie Sternberg of
Pulaski, Va., and Margaret Smalley and her husband, Robert, of Karns; and 12
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
B.J. was her pet canary.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at Second
Presbyterian Church in Knoxville with Dr. Arnold Lovell and the Rev. Chris
Leonard officiating.
The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to Second
Presbyterian Church, 2829 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919; or to a church
or charity of the donor's choice.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

CHRISTIAN MICHAEL KEY, 8 weeks, of Oak Ridge, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at
Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
He was the son of Melisa Lewis and Christopher Key of Oak Ridge.
He is also survived by his grandparents, Michael and Ann Lewis of Oak Ridge
and Denny and Judy Cavins of Wabash, Ind.; and his aunt and uncle, Amber
Lewis and Brent Lewis, both of Oak Ridge.
Christian was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Louise and Roscoe
Rowan and Jayne and Terry Lewis.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at Oak
Ridge Memorial Park with the Rev. Graeme Sieber officiating.
In addition, friends and family may call after the service at the family
home.
Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

DAVID V. RICHARDS, 83, of Sevierville, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, in
Sevierville.
Mrs. Richards received a bachelor of arts degree in home economics and a
bachelor's degree in social administration from the University of Illinois in
1941. She moved to Knoxville in 1952, becoming a member of Church Street
United Methodist Church, where she helped lead the college-age church school.
She had been active in social work, churches, volunteer work and historical
societies in the many communities throughout the United States in which she
had lived. Most recently, she was a member of First United Methodist Church
in Sevierville.
Mrs. Richards is survived by her husband of 59 years, Russell "Red" Richards
of Markhill Village, Sevierville; her daughter, Lecie Holt and her husband,
Jeff, of Oak Ridge; her son, Roger Richards and his wife, Phyllis, of
Knoxville; her brothers, Richard Derrough and Phillip Derrough and their
wives, all of Florida; one grandson in Oak Ridge; two granddaughters and a
great-grandson in Montana; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by another son, Stephen.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 14, in the chapel of
Atchley Funeral Home in Sevierville.
