CHADWELL, BERNARD - 63, of Jellico, Tenn. passed away Thursday, June 7, 2001
at the Jellico Community Hospital. Survived by daughters, Pam Gilreath of
Jellico, Tenn., Patricia Davis of LaFollette, Tenn., Sharon Chadwell of
Clinton, Tenn., Nisa Parks of Nashville, Tenn., Bethany Austin of
Bloomington, Ind., Stella Brown of Cedar Key, Fla.; step son, Jim Carpenter
of Locus Grove, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brother, Tommy
Overton of LaFollette, Tenn.; ex-wife, Beverly Chadwell of Jellico, Tenn.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday June 10, at the Cox & Son
Chapel with Rev. John Hunley officiating. Interment will be in the Odd Fellow
Cemetery at White Oak, Tenn. Friends may call Saturday from 5-9 p.m. at

CHAMBERS, NOVELLA H. - age 85, of Elk Valley, Tenn., passed away Wednesday,
June 6, 2001, at Baptist Hospital, Knoxville, Tenn. She was born June 4,
1916, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elk Valley. She spent
most of her life teaching school/ serving as a guidance counselor in Campbell
County, Anderson County, Montgomery County, Ohio, and Lincoln Memorial
University. Preceded in death by husband, Francis J. Chambers; parents,
Sheridan (Red) and Beatrice Ledford; brothers, J. V. , L. P. and Oha Ledford.
Survived by sons, Roger Chambers and wife Pat, and Gary Chambers and wife
Beverly; five grandchildren, Brad Chambers, Todd Chambers, Tricia Brown, Kim
Chambers and Randy Chambers; four great-grandchildren, Bridget, Emily, Katie
Leigh and Morgan Brown; sisters, Iva Lee Young, Azalee Littrell;
sisters-in-law, Ollie and Garnet Chambers, and numerous cherished nieces and
nephews. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at the Elk
Valley First Baptist Church with Rev. Earl Chapman officiating. Interment
will be in the Valley View Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 6-9 p.m. at

FOUST, EARL - age 88, a lifelong resident of Clinton, passed away Thursday
June 7, 2001 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was a member of
Black Oak Baptist Church and attended regularly until receding health. He
worked for 31 years at Magnet Mills as a knitter. Earl had worked at the
Clinton Courier news for twenty-three years & three months under the
direction of Mr. Horace Wells. He is preceded in death by daughter, Billie
Sue Foust; parents, John & Arlene Weaver Foust. He was born April 18, 1913 in
Clinton. Survivors: wife of 67 years, Grace Cook Foust of Clinton; daughters,
Joyce Cox & husband, Dale of Clinton, Bobbie Webber & husband, James Q., Jr.
of Chattanooga; son, Earl Levaughn Foust & wife, Nola of Candler, NC;
grandchildren, J. Alan Cox & wife, Lydia of Tallahassee, Fla., Susan Artz &
husband, Ray of Margate, Fla., G. Brian Cox & wife, Kym of Fayetteville, Ga.,
Rebecca Swavely & husband, Brad of Anderson, SC, Ltc. James Q. Webber, III &
wife, Julie of Ft. Knox, Ky., Christopher E. Foust & wife, Sherry of Fuquay
Varina, NC, Melody Davis & husband, Mike of Weaverville, NC, Regina Webber of
Clinton; 16 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends 5:30-7:30
p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2001 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with
funeral service following at 7:30 p.m., in the chapel with Rev. Joe Bridges &
Rev. Larry Pugh officiating. Interment will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at
Woodhaven Memory Gardens in Claxton. Memorials may be made to Black Oak
Baptist Church 236 Black Oak Road, Clinton, Tenn. 37716. Holley-Gamble
Funeral Home of Clinton in charge of all arrangements.

PARKS, HELEN ALBERTA PHILLIPS - age 87, of Lake City, Tenn. departed this
life on June 7, 2001 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, Tenn. Helen
was born July 4, 1913 in Anderson Co. She was a member of Clear Branch
Baptist Church. Helen worked in the finishing department at Magnet Mills for
several years. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur F. Parks;
her parents, Issac & Mabel Pryor Phillips; son, Wayne Oliver Parks; daughter,
Wilma Jean Parks; granddaughter, Diane Skrowronski; and brothers, Bill, Otis &
Kenneth Phillips. Survivors: daughters & sons in law, Janie & Mack Hill, of
Lake City, Mary Helen & Ralph T. Hill of Jefferson City; sons & daughters in
law, James & Willie Ruth Parks of Lake City, Ralph & Wilma Parks of Lake
City; 14 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren and great-great
grandchildren. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 9, 2001 from
6-8 p.m. at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City with the service to
follow at 8 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Rick Teague and the Rev. Tom
Byrge officiating. Interment will be Sunday June 10, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the
Leach Cemetery in Lake City. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City in
charge of all arrangements.

RICHARDSON, MRS. BETTY - age 70 of Jacksboro, passed away Friday, June 8,
2001 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was a member of the
Jacksboro First Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, Jimmy and Hazel
Jones; brother, Bill Jones; and granddaughter, Addie Stooksbury. Survivors:
husband, Bob Richardson of Jacksboro; daughters and sons in law, Sharon and
Dale Stooksbury of Jacksboro, Nancy and John Beasley of Caryville; two
grandsons, Grey Stooksbury and John Clark Stooksbury of Jacksboro; sisters,
Imogene Elkins of LaFollette, and Azilee Bhend of Hutson, Wis.; brother, J.D.
Jones of Jacksboro; several nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services Sunday 8 p.m. at Jacksboro First Baptist Church with Dr.
Charles Parker and Rev. Billy Smith officiating. Family and friends will meet
on Monday 10:45 a.m. at Jacksboro First Baptist Church and proceed to
Jacksboro Cemetery for graveside services and interment. The family will
receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday before services at Jacksboro First

TURPIN, ANNABELLE SCARBOROUGH - age 80 of Maryville died at 7:15 a.m.
Thursday, June 7, 2001 at the University of Tenn. Medical Center. She was a
member of Smokey View Baptist Church and a graduate of Old Robertsville High
School (1939) in Oak Ridge. She attended Maryville College and was an
employee of the Blount County School System for a few years; an employee of
ALCOA and Proffitt's Department Stores. Preceded in death by son, Jerry
Clayton; brothers, Frank, Glenn, Albert, Ray Scarborough; sister, Polly
Edsell; parents, Joseph & Lucy Scarborough. Survivors include: husband, of 62
1/2 years, William Edgar Turpin; daughter and son in law, Linda & David Ellis
of Alcoa; grandchildren, David L. & wife, Kim Ellis, Daniel C. Ellis, Julie &
husband, Joe Bell, Joseph E. and wife, Belinda Ellis, Lisa Sands, Michelle &
husband, Andrew Klager, Elena Patrick, Tiffany Turpin; great grandchildren,
A1C Cari D. Ellis of Mont., Megan N. Waters, Bren Swicegood, Taylor Sands,
Eric Bell, Alex Anna Bell; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will
be at 2 p.m. Sunday June 10, 2001 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary
with Rev. R.M. Everett and Rev. Mark Martin officiating. Interment will
follow in Grandview Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m.
