PARKS, ALBERT JOSEPH "DOLLY" - age 70, of Briceville, Tenn., passed away
Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at his residence. He was born September 9, 1930, in
Anderson County. Joe was a member of the Laurel Grove Baptist Church. Joe was
preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Arpie Parks; sons, Ricky and Joe
Parks and brothers, Cecil Jr. and Chester Parks. Survivors: wife, Lola Mae
Parks of Briceville; daughter, Vickie Disney and husband Ray of Oliver
Springs; stepsons, Tim Long and wife Donna of Clinton, and Terry Long and
wife Beth of Clinton; sisters, Opal Braden of Lake City, Emily Duncan of
Clinton, Betty Vowell and husband Quentin of Jacksboro, Claudine Harden of
Knoxville; brothers, L. E. Parks and wife, Kitty of Memphis, Carter Parks and
wife Bobbie of Clinton; grandson, Kevin Disney and Heather of Morristown;
step grandchildren, Jeanette, Gabrielle, Jacob and Connor Long of Clinton;
sister-in-law, Iona Parks of Wartburg; very special friend, Jeep and Mrytle
Parks. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 7, 2001, from 6-8 p.m.
at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City. Funeral service will follow
at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with the Rev. David
White and Audrey Goins officiating. Interment will be Friday, June 8, 2001,
at 11 a.m. at the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Laurel Grove community in
Briceville. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home, in Lake City, in charge of all
arrangements.
RIPLEY, OLIN B., JR. - age 79, of Oak Ridge, passed away Wednesday, June 6,
2001, at the Methodist Medical Center. He was born 11-26-1921, in Baileyton,
Ga., the son of Olen B. and Myrtle R. Ripley, Sr. He came to Oak Ridge after
serving in the U. S. Army Air Corp and finishing studies at Milligan College
and the University of Tennessee, earning a Master's degree in School
Administration. He began as a teacher with the Oak Ridge City Schools and
retired in 1987, as Attendance Director. After leaving active duty, he served
in the USAF Reserve, retiring in 1981, as Lt. Col. He was a life member of
the American Legion, having been Post #199 Commander, Second District
Commander and E. Tennessee Vice-Commander. He was a member of the First
United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge, where he served on the Administration
Board. He was also active in the Reserve Officers Association, the Oak Ridge
Retired Teacher's Association, and the E. Tennessee Retired Teacher's
Association, Chairman of the Supervisory Committee for the Oak Ridge Schools
Federal Credit Union, and a member of the Holston Rose Society. He is
survived by his wife of 55 years, Helen Kilday Ripley of Oak Ridge; daughter,
Marilyn of Eugene, Oreg.; sons, Michael Ripley of Oak Ridge, and Brian Ripley
and wife Debbie of Knoxville; granddaughters, Carmen Ripley of Portland
Oreg., Sara Plia of Ashland, Oreg., Mary Ripley of Knoxville and grandsons,
Taylor Ripley, Spencer Ripley and Hunter Ripley of Oak Ridge, Dylan Ripley of
Knoxville; brother, Kyle Ripley and wife Ruth of Tellico Village;
brother-in-law, Don Kilday and wife Carolyn of Baileyton, Tenn.; nieces,
Linda Jeffreys and husband Nicholas of Raleigh, N.C. and Pam Bryant and
husband Jim of Atlanta, Ga., and nephew, David Kilday of Greene Co., Tenn.
Funeral services are Saturday, June 9, 2001, at 1 p.m. at the First United
Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family
will receive friends on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary, Oak
Ridge
