DYKES, VIRGIL KENNETH - age 75 of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away Friday
June 1, 2001 at the home of his niece, Bobbie Kay Chadwell of Indianapolis,
Ind. He was a veteran of WWII and a member of Indianapolis, Masonic Lodge
#669. Survived by wife, Wilma Lawson Dykes of Indianapolis, Ind.; sister,
Genese Wilkerson; brothers, Miles, Elton, and Bethel Dykes; niece, Bobbie Kay
Chadwell of Indianapolis, Ind. and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services 1 p.m. Wednesday June 6, 2001 and interment to follow in
Warren Memorial Gardens in Stanfield, Tenn. with Rev. Asbury Byrd
officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday June 5 in
the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home. Martin Wilson Funeral Home of
LaFollette in charge of arrangements.

TUPPER, CHARLES EARNES (CHARLIE) - age 67, of 2112 Eastwood Ave., Kingsport,
Tenn. went to be with the Lord, Friday June 1, 2001 after a period of
declining health. Charlie was born in Clinton, Tenn. January 28, 1934 a son
of the late Hugh and Emma Jackson Tupper, and preceded in death by his
nephew, James Tupper. He was retired from Pet Dairy, a veteran serving with
the United states Army, a graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens,
Tenn. and the East Tennessee State University, a member of the Appalachian
Express Chorus and a member of the Mountain View United Methodist Church. He
is survived by his wife, Juanita Bright Tupper of the home; two sons and
daughter in law, Bob Tupper and wife, Nikki and Todd Tupper all of Kingsport;
two grandchildren, Josh Tupper and Christina Tupper both of Church Hill,
Tenn. and two step grandchildren, Jessica and Katie Ann; one brother and
sister in law, Thomas F. Tupper and wife, Lula of Clinton, Tenn. Calling
hours will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the East lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services
will be 4 p.m. Monday at the Mountain View United Methodist Church with the
Reverend Brian Taylor officiating. Music will be under the direction of the
Mountain View United Methodist Church. Mr. Tupper will be taken to the church
1 hour before service. Burial will follow in the East Lawn Memorial Park in
the Garden of Peace; pallbearers will be members of the Appalachian Express
Chorus. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be given to the Mountain View United
Methodist Choir, 4405 Orebank Road, Kingsport, Tenn. 37664. Email condolences
