GLYMP, TOMMY GENE - age 47 of Clinton went to be with the Lord Friday June 1,
2001 at his residence. He worked in the Maintenance Dept. for the Anderson
County Schools for 29 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, John B.
and Lillie Mae Powell Glymp; son, Bill Glymp. Survivors include; wife, Joyce
Glymp of Clinton; son, Tommy Lee and wife, Christie Glymp of Clinton;
daughter, Chelsea Rutherford of Clinton; grandson, Dillon Hawkins of Clinton;
brother, Johnny and wife, Jo Glymp of Oliver Springs; sisters, Janice and
husband, Sam LaRue of Benton, Tenn., Judy and husband, Frank Jenkins of
Cleveland, Tenn., Janie and husband, Pete Jones of Oliver Springs. Several
nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Sunday June 3, 2001
at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m.
Monday at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with The Rev. Paul Hunley and Rev. Randy
Moore officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Memorial Garden in Clinton.
HATMAKER, GLADYS - age 92, of Lake City, passed away Friday, June 1, 2001 at
the Lake City Health Care Center. She was born December 15, 1906 in Campbell
County, Tenn. Gladys was a member of the Longfield Baptist Church. She is
preceded in death by her parents, Charlie & Hulda Lindsay Hatmaker; brothers,
Orn Hatmaker and Elmer Hugh Hatmaker; sisters, Thelma Lou Hatmaker, Bertha
Abner and Lassie Cooper. Survivors: brother, John Hatmaker, Clinton; sisters,
Betty McFarland, Lake City, Juanita Rogers, Knoxville; sister in law, Aubrey
Hatmaker, Lake City; several nieces and nephews. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Saturday
June 2, 2001 at the Cox-Martin Funeral Home. Funeral service 8 p.m. Saturday
June 2, 2001 in the Cox-Martin Chapel with Rev. Henry Hensley officiating.
Interment 2 p.m. Sunday June 3, 2001 at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Lake City,
Tenn. Cox-Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
McNEELEY, MR. LAWTON AMORY - age 78 of LaFollette, Tenn. passed away Friday
June 1, 2001 at St. Mary's Medical Center, Knoxville. He was a member of the
Bethlehem Baptist Church, retired employee of the LaFollette Medical Center,
and a disabled US Army veteran of WWII having served in Sicily, Normandy,
Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe where he was awarded a SAME
Theater Ribbon with 5 Bronze Stars with Bronze Arrowhead, a Purple Heart with
2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Distinguished Unit Citation with 1 Oak Leave Cluster,
Combat Infantryman Badge and a Rifle Sharpshooter Medal. He was preceded in
death by his parents, Sam and Hylie McNeeley; one brother and two sisters.
Survivors: wife, Mrs. Leila G. McNeeley, of LaFollette; son, Gary McNeeley of
SC; three nieces, Jean Crowley of Lexington, Ky., Faye Buffum, Omaha, Neb.,
and Juanita Pierce of Reno, Nev. Several other relatives and friends. Funeral
services Sunday June 3, 2001 8 p.m. at Walters Chapel with Rev. Bill Braden
officiating. Family and friends will meet Monday 10 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery
in LaFollette for interment services with military honors conducted by the
Campbell County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.
Sunday before services at Walters Funeral Home. Walters Funeral Home,
LaFollette in charge of arrangements.
NELSON, JAMES DEE "J.D." - age 65 of Clinton, Tenn. passed away Thursday May
31, 2001 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, Tenn. He was a
Electronic Technician at Homecrest manufacturing Co. in Clinton. He was a
former member of Tenn. National Guard. Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by
his parents, Henderson and Minnie Lindsay Nelson; sisters, Margaret Hatmaker
and Beatrice Turnbill. Survivors include: wife, Joyce Nelson of Clinton;
daughters, Debby and husband, J.R. Bridges of Lake City, Tonya and husband,
Jim Davis of Knoxville, Tina and husband, mark Foust of Clinton, Candy and
husband, Robby Walker of Clinton; sons, Lynn and wife, Dana Nelson of
Jacksboro, Jay Nelson, jr. of Asheville, NC; grandchildren, Morgan Davis,
Brittany Foust, Nicole Walker, Chelsea Walker, Caleb Walker, Sabrina Thompson
and Leslie Nelson; sisters, Mary Ruth Goodman of Lake City, Jean Hawkins of
Lake City; brothers, Marshall Nelson of Lake City, Jerry and wife, Berta
Nelson of Lake City; several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends
7-9 p.m. Sunday June 3, 2001 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Piney Grove Baptist Church with the
Rev. Joe Norris and Rev. Kenny Sharp officiating. Burial will be in Piney
Grove Church Cemetery.
