OFFIE "Bama" TRULL, 72, of Clinton, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Methodist
Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mr. Trull was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War 11. He came to Oak Ridge from
Alabama and had retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems after 38 years of
service.
He was a devoted member of the Alpha Masonic Lodge No. 376 in Clinton and had
served as a past master. Mr. Trull was a Baptist. He loved to fish and
garden.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eunice Colburn Trull; his daughters,
Vonnie Blalock of Oak Ridge, Carolyn Adcox of Kingston and Barbara Moody and
her husband, Kenneth, of Jacksonville, N.C.; his sister, Helen Bailey and her
husband, Bill, of Selma, Ala.; his brother, Sam Sheffield and his wife,
Helen, of Pine Hill, Ala.; and by nine grandchildren, five
great-grandchildren and several other relatives.
The funeral will be held at 8:15 tonight, June 1, in the chapel of
Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Ray Buchanan officiating.
A Masonic service will follow at 8 p.m.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at Anderson
Memorial Gardens, 640 Oliver Springs Highway, Clinton.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at the mortuary.
BILL BARNETT, 71, of Oak Ridge, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at the Veterans
Administration Hospital in Nashville after a short illness.
Mr. Barnett was born April 15, 1930, in Salem, Ala., the son of Nezer and
Mattie Nelms Barnett, who are deceased. He had been a resident of Oak Ridge
since 1958.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and also served for several
years with the Reserve in the National Guard.
Mr. Barnett had worked at the Tennessee Valley Authority and also worked in
construction and landscaping.
At an early age, he joined St. Stephen's Methodist Church in Valley, Ala.,
and attended True Light Baptist Church in the Solway community.
He is survived by his son, James Lamar Brown and his fiancée, Debra
Blackwell, of Miami, Fla.; five sisters, Emma Barnett and Belle Harvest, both
of Oak Ridge, Lois Madden of Valley, Ala., and Joan Turner and Dorothy James,
both of Salem, Ala.; and four brothers, Joe Nathan Barnett of Beulah, Ala.,
Louis Tripp of Illinois, George Eddie Floyd of Valley and Gene Floyd of
Salem.
Mr. Barnett is also survived by his sister-in-law, Sarah Barnett of Oak
Ridge; three brothers-in-law, Johnny Harvest of Oak Ridge, Willie Madden of
Valley and Marshall James of Salem; five grandchildren, Jamie Brown of El
Cajon, Calif., Alex Brown and Tyisha Battle, both of Miami, and Marlow Battle
and Markey Battle, both of Chicago; and several nieces, nephews and other
relatives.
Debra Brown of El Cajon was his former daughter-in-law. Auther Charles
Robinson of Oak Ridge was considered his best friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother,
Wynatt Lee Barnett; five other brothers, Paul Barnett, Allen Barnett, Tom
Barnett, James Meadows and Jimmy Worrells; two other sisters, Dorethea Dunn
and Ever Lee Houser; and two sisters-in-law, Ollie Mae Barnett and Punky
Meadows.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at St. Stephen's
Methodist Church in Valley, Ala., with the Rev. Edward Lane officiating.
Burial will be at Fort Mitchell Military Cemetery in Phenix City, Ala.
Unity Mortuary in Valley, Ala., is handling arrangements.
MARTHA ESSIE PEMBERTON KITTRELL, 92, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, May 31,
2001, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Kittrell was a former resident of Alcoa and Knoxville. She was the widow
of Edward Peters Kittrell.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Kittrell of Oak Ridge; her son,
Robert E. Kittrell and his wife, Margaret, of Dunwoody, Ga.; and six
grandchildren, Shannon Fortenberry of Alexandria, Va., Thaddeus Fortenberry
of Oak Ridge and Ryan Kittrell, Christopher Kittrell, Lindsay Kittrell and
Stephanie Kittrell, all of Dunwoody.
The graveside service will be private.
The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to Friends
of the Smokies, 130 W. Bruce St., Sevierville, TN 37862.
Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway, is handling arrangements.
MARIE CHAMBERS BARTON, 81, of Maryville, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at Fort
Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville.
Mrs. Barton is survived by her daughters, Deborah Barton of Knoxville and
Candace McCuiston of Cary, N.C.; her son, Michael Barton of Royal Palm Beach,
Fla.; her brother, Walter Chambers of Maryville; her sister, Ethel Steinhauer
of Oak Ridge; and seven grandchildren.
The funeral and burial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 3, at
Sherwood Mausoleum in Alcoa.
Friends may call at their convenience at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home
in Maryville
