EVERETT BROWN, 86, of LaFollette, died Saturday, May 19 at the Methodist
Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He attended Island Home Baptist Church and was a
retired construction worker.
He is survived by wife Thelma Brown; and brother Herman Brown both of
LaFollette.
Funeral services were held on Monday at Island Home Baptist Church with Mr.
Jerry Hurst, Rev. Calvin Braden, and Rev. Floyd Scarborough officiating.
Interment was held in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
Walters Funeral Home of LaFollette was in charge of arrangements.
LARRY DILBECK, age 53, of 279 Dilbeck Lane, Caryville passed away suddenly
Wednesday, May 16, 2001 at his home. Mr. Dilbeck was a member of Vasper
Baptist Church. He was an avid gardener. He liked planting fruit trees and
flowers. He loved spending time with his grandbabies and loved his family
very much. He was the Advertising Manager with the LaFollette Press with over
30 years of service.
He was preceded in death by sister, Judy Dilbeck Stiffler; grandparents W.T.
and Ida Mae Goins and Luther and Bertha Dilbeck.
He is survived by wife, Carolyn Dilbeck of Caryville; sons and
daughter-in-laws, Von and Sonya Dilbeck of Jellico; and Ron and Naomia
Dilbeck of Jacksboro; daughter, Tennille Dilbeck of Caryville; Grandchildren,
Ryan, Mikayla, Madison Dilbeck all of Jellico; Mackenzie Dilbeck of
Jacksboro; parents, Mack and Maude Dilbeck of Caryville; Brothers- Don and
Gary Dilbeck both of Caryville, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were 2 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2001 in the chapel of Martin
Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. David Walker, Rev. Don Dilbeck and Rev. Kenny
Gillum officiating. Interment followed in the New Vasper Cemetery. The family
received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2001 at Martin Wilson
Funeral Home.

CLAUDE D. FOSTER, 89, of Crestwood, Ky. died Monday, May 21, in Louisville.
He was a Baptist and retired co-owner of East Side Market in LaFollette.
He was preceded in death by wife Mary McCarty Foster; and son Homer Foster.
He is survived by 2 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday at Cross Chapel with Rev. Malcolm
King officiating. Interment was held in the McCarty Cemetery. Memorials may
be made to Wesley Manor Retirement Community, 5012 E. Manslick Rd.,
Louisville, Ky. 40219.

JACK GROSS, 74, of Jellico, died Tuesday, May 15 at the Jellico Community
Hospital.
He was preceded in death by brothers Wiley A. (Buck), E.J., and Riley Gross;
and sister Novella Gross Wilson.
He is survived by brothers Harry Gross of Loyall, Ky. and Ozella Gross of
Jellico.
Funeral services were held on Friday, May 18, at Harp Funeral Home Chapel
with Rev. Durand Dixon officiating. Interment was held in the Jellcio
cemetery.

ELIZABETH ESTHER (Lizzie) HENDERSON, 87, of LaFollette, died May 15, at
Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death husband Floyd Henderson; parents Gillis and Celia
Brandenburg; infant daughter Mary Lou Carroll; brother Charlie Brandenburg;
sisters Girlie White and Ruth Stokes; and 2 grandchildren.
She is survived by daughters Juanita Jones of LaFollette, Carolyn Leard of
Abingdon, Md., and Nell Overcash of Aiken, S.C.; sons Earl Carroll and Paul
Henderson both of LaFollette, and Carl Henderson of Palm Coast, Fla.; sisters
Azalee Helton of Clinton and Ruby McCullah of Baltimore, Md.; 14
grnadchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 17, at Cross Chapel with Rev.
Leonard Dabney and Dr. Charles Parker officiating. Interment was held in the
Jacksboro Cemetery.

IRENE HENDRIX, 90, of LaFollette, died Friday, May 18 at the St. Mary's
Medical Center in LaFollette. She was a member of the Baptist Faith.
She is preceded in death by husband Carl Hendrix; parents Harvey and Martha
Ann Braden; brothers Floyd and Leonard Braden; and sister Stella Hendrix.
She is survived by sisters Daisy Travis of Clinton, Mattie Harvey of Lake
City, and Izeada Parrott and gladys McCulley both of LaFollette.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 19 at Cox-Martin Chapel with Rev.
Gene Guyton officiating. Interment was held in the Butler Cemetery in Oliver
Springs.

WILLIAM HOUSLEY, 77, of Clinton, died Thursday, May 17, at Windwood Health
Care Center in Clinton.
He was preceded in death by wife Pauline Perkins Housley; and parents Henry
and Lucy (Ivey) Housley.
He is survived by son Billy Housley of Clinton; daughters Kathy Ward of
Clinton and Barbara Trammell of Knoxville; sister Isa Yarwood of Salem, Ark.;
7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Friday, May 18 at Cross Funeral Home with Rev.
David Bell officiating. Interment was held in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

LUCILLE BRUMMITT SHUP Shupe, 80, of Speedwell, died Monday, May 21 in
Campbell County.
She is preceded in death by parents Archie and Cornnie Brooks; husband Harley
Brummitt and Warren G. Shupe; son Kenneth Ray Shupe; brothers Alvie and Frank
Brooks; sisters Pearlie and Stacie Brooks; and 2 grandchildren.
She is survived by sons Eugene, Wesley, John, and Clyde Brummitt all of
Speedwell; daughters Mary Magaline Ogle of Maryville and Gladys Shupe
Williams of Cocoa, Fla.; brother Clarence Brooks of Delaware, Ohio; sister
Louise Copeland of Speedwell; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday at Reece Valley Chapel with Rev. Bill
Braden and rev. Doyle Ausmus officiating. Interment was held in the Brooks
Cemetery, Tazwell.
