FREDERICK, BERNARD JAMES - age 77, of Oak Ridge, passed away Tuesday, April
17, 2001, at the Methodist Medical Center, after a long respiratory illness.
He was born in Potsdam, New York, on April 19, 1923, and graduated from
Clarkson Tech (New York) with a Civil Engineering degree. He served as a 1st
Lieutenant with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and met his wife, Greta,
while serving in Japan. He was employed by the U. S. Geological Survey
throughout the Eastern U. S. and settled in Oak Ridge, after being named
Sub-District Chief of the Geological Survey in Knoxville. He was an Associate
Professor of Engineering at the University of Tennessee, where he taught and
conducted research in conjunction with Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He was
voted Faculty Member of the Year by U. T. Civil Engineering students.
Foremost, "Bernie" was a loving husband and father, who lived a life devoted
to the catholic church. He read the scriptures at daily mass and was an
active fund-raiser for St. Mary's Knights of Columbus. Bernie was preceded in
death by his wife, Greta and his son, Dean. He leaves behind many loving
children and grandchildren. His sons are Bernard, Paul, Bruce, Raymond, and
Michael Frederick. His daughters are Maggie Jenkins, Kathy Sanders, and
Jeanne Frederick. His grandchildren include Don, Catnip, Eli, Ashleigh, and
Samantha Frederick, Rachael Thompson, and Rex and Dillon Sanders. His
great-grandchildren include Forrest Frederick and other family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Martin Oak Ridge
Funeral Home with a Rosary to be said at 8 p.m. in the Chapel. The Funeral
Mass will be Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father
Michael Woods officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
Anyone who wishes to make a memorial donation, in lieu of flowers, may, to
the Catholic Relief Fund, in Bernie's name, c/o St. Mary's Catholic Church in
Oak Ridge.

SHARP, EDWIN "EDDIE" KEITH - of Caryville, passed from this life on
Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at the age of 43. He was of the Baptist faith and
a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his father,
Edwin Sharp of Campbell County. He is survived by his mother, Naomi McKinney
Sharp of Campbell County; daughter, Shyla Sharp of Knoxville, and son, Shane
Sharp of Knoxville; aunts, Effie Lovitt and husband Darrell of Cincinnati,
Brenda Vinsant and husband Perry of Jacksboro, Betty Goins and husband
Kenneth of Cleveland, Tenn., and uncle, Roscoe Sharp and wife Dorothy of
Caryville. He was loved by several more aunts and cousins. The family will be
receiving friends on Thursday, April 19, 2001, from 6-8 p.m., with funeral
services following immediately after, with the Rev. Roger Stanley and Rev.
Steve Elkins officiating. Final Disposition will be on Friday, April 20,
2001, at 11 a.m. at Campbell Memorial Gardens. Anderson County Funeral Home
in Clinton, Tenn., is in charge.
