ELKINS, RICHARD - age 85, of Oak Ridge, passed away Wednesday, April 11,
2001, at his residence. Mr. Elkins was a member of Calvery Baptist Church for
over 50 years. He came to Oak Ridge in 1942, with Tennessee Eastman Co. He
went to work for Union Carbide at the X-10 Plant and later went to work for
the City of Oak Ridge, where he was retired. He enjoyed gardening, fishing,
and hunting. Mr. Elkins was born June 8, 1915, in Hawkins County, Tenn., to
the late Henry and Frances Heck Elkins. Preceded in death by his wife of 34
years, Mary Elkins; son-in-law, James Johnson, and three brothers, and two
sisters. Survived by children: Bill and wife Sandy Elkins of Oak Ridge, Joyce
Johnson of Oak Ridge, Frances Parker and husband James of Oak Ridge, and
George Elkins of Oak Ridge; brothers, Howard Elkins of Rogersville, Hugh
Elkins of Washington, and Roy Elkins of Washington; sister, Virginia Petty of
Nashville; grandchildren, James Elkins, Tammi Jones, Scott Elkins, Teresa
Johnson, Natasha Lively, Dana Gallaher, and Lori Gallaher; seven
great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive
friends from 6-8 Thursday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at
11 a.m. Friday at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home, in
charge.
JONES, REBA JULIA ADKISSON - age 86, formerly of Clinton and Caryville,
passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at the Life Care Center of Jefferson
City. She was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church in Clinton where
she served as Secretary/Treasurer of her Sunday School class and held various
offices in United Methodist Women over the years. A resident of Tacora Hills
for many years, she was active in the Home Demonstration Club and Gardening
Club. She was a former member and officer in the Order of the Eastern Star in
Caryville and Clinton. She graduated as valedictorian from Wheat High School
in 1935. Preceded in death by husband, Herman Barkstal Jones; parents, Edward
and Ida Adkisson; brothers, Alvin, Lawrence, and Ernest Adkisson. She was
born April 12, 1914, in Wind Rock, Tenn. Survivors: daughters, Janis Long and
husband Don of Rockford, Ill., and Judy Tippit and husband Tom of Jefferson
City; grandchildren, Elizabeth Long of Rockford, Ill., David Long and wife
Liz of Cambridge Springs, Penn., Scott Long and wife Marsha of Ft. Worth,
Texas, Shannon McBride and husband Brad of Alcoa, Tenn., and Brian Tippit and
wife Misty of Sevierville, Tenn., and several great-grandchildren. The family
will receive friends 1-3 p.m., Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Holley-Gamble
Funeral Home with funeral services following at 3 p.m. in the chapel with
Rev. John Clark officiating. The burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.

LEACH, DALE - age 17, of 505 Fox Den Lane, LaFollette, passed away suddenly
Tuesday, April 10, 2001. Dale was a loving son, grandson, nephew, and cousin,
who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Dale also enjoyed
playing golf and loved to spend time on the lake. Dale was a member of the
Campbell County High School Golf Team. He was preceded in death by
grandfather, Earl Leach; great-great grandparents, Mary Ford, Delva Smith,
and Frank and Ruby Wilson. He is survived by parents, Roger and Sharon Leach
of LaFollette; girlfriend, Miranda Woods of Jacksboro; grandparents, Della
Mae Leach and Bob and Shirley Wilson, all of LaFollette, and
great-grandmother, Ema Lee Leach of Speedwell, and a host of other relatives
and friends. Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2001, in the
chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Leach officiating.
Interment will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2001, in Baker's Forge
Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday before the
services. Martin Wilson Funeral Home, of LaFollette, is in charge of
arrangements.
SHARP, RONALD DAVID - age 51, of Oak Ridge, passed away Wednesday, April 11,
2001, at the Methodist Medical Center. Computer Specialist with Oak Ridge
National Laboratory. Attended Christ Community Church. Preceded in death by
his father, Otis D. Sharp on September 14, 1988. Survived by his wife,
Janette Carter Sharp of Oak Ridge; his mother, Ruby Stephens Sharp of Oak
Ridge; sons, Chris Sharp and wife Kelly of Denver, Colo., and Brad Sharp of
Oak Ridge; brothers, Jerry Sharp and wife Linda and his twin, Dr. Don Sharp
and wife Judy, all of Oak Ridge, and several nieces, nephews, and other
relatives. Funeral services are Friday, April 13, 2001, at 2 p.m. at
Weatherford Mortuary with Pastors Tom Job and Stephen Gooch officiating.
Burial to follow in Anderson Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers are Dave
Hetrick, John Fellers, Frank Kornegi, Mac McMahon, Ralph Waddell, Paul Carter
and Bobby Carter. Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation,
PO Box 566, Knoxville, TN 37901 or to Young Life of Anderson County, 1298 Oak
Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. The family will receive friends on
Friday from 1-2 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary.
STEWART, RUBLE LEOLA DANIELS - age 84, of Clinton, formerly of Fratersville
Community, born January 22, 1917, to Ellen and Jonah Daniels in Norton, Va.,
went to live with Jesus on Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at Methodist Medical
Center. She was preceded in death by husband, Condy Stewart, Sr.; son, Bill
Stewart; granddaughter, Sandy Stewart; brother, Scotty Nance, and sister,
Ruby Harness. She was a member of Fratersville Baptist Church. She was a
community correspondent for the Clinton Courier News in the early 1960's. She
was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a friend to all who
knew her. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Condy "Moose" and
Zella Stewart of Lake City, and Jim and Linda Stewart of Clinton; daughters,
Brenda Leach of Clinton, and Peggy Gaskill of Lake City; brothers, Clayton
Daniels and Thomas Nance, Jr.; sisters, Bernice Patterson, Bertie Ellen
Roberts and Zenith Bailey. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 12
great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 12,
2001, from 6-8 p.m. at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City with the
funeral service following at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Tom Byrge, Rev. Robbie
Leach, and Rev. Roger Leach officiating. Interment will be Friday, April 13,
2001, at 11 a.m. at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton. Holley-Gamble
Funeral Home, in Lake City, is in charge.
