BALL, ELIZABETH "BETTY" - passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Methodist
Medical Center in Oak Ridge, after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in
death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Robert P. Ball, and her brother, Robert
Ball. She is survived by her nephew, Robert Ball and his wife, Elizabeth and
their daughter, Alexandria. Betty was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., and spent
her early years in New York City, where she graduated from Nightingale
Banford School for Girls. She attended Louisiana State University and the
University of North Carolina, where she received her Bachelor's Degree. She
did graduate work at the University of Michigan, and the University of
Tennessee. Betty was in the United States Army from 1959 until 1974, serving
in various posts in the United States and overseas. She achieved the rank of
major and was a Reserve Officer until her retirement. She was an avid bridge
player and world traveler. She was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma
Sorority, the Pilot Club International, the Oak Ridge Art Guild, the Reserve
Officers Association, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. A
graveside service, for family members only, will be held on Wednesday
morning. There will be a reception for friends and neighbors at the Oak Ridge
Retirement Center from 4-5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11. In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Mrs. Lee
Costanzo, 103 Case Lane, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.
FORMAN, TONYA - age 38, of Jellico, Tenn., passed away Sunday, April 8, 2001,
at the family residence. Survivors: daughter, Hannah Forman of Jellico;
parents, A.B. and Jennie Ann Forman of Jellico; sister, Angie Forman of
Powell; brother, Keith Forman and wife Penny of Bellefontaine, Ohio;
grandmother, Doris Lansden of Dayton, Ohio; aunts, Jimmie Roberts and Blanche
Smith of Dayton, Ohio; uncle, Ervin Forman of Virginia.; cousins, Ronnie,
Doris Ann, Shannon and Matt Tackett, Rick, Gary and Tracy Forman. The family
will receive friends at the First Baptist Church, Jellico, Wednesday, April
11, from 5-8 p.m., with funeral services to follow at 8 p.m., with Rev.
Michael Blankenship officiating. Family and friends will meet at 12 Noon,
Thursday, April 12, at the Jellico Cemetery for graveside service and
interment. Cox & Son Funeral Home, Jellico, in charge.
FOSTER, RUBY WILSON - age 90, of Lake City, Tenn., passed away Monday, April
9, 2001, at the Windwood Health Center in Clinton. She was born July 23,
1910, in Anderson County, Tenn. She was a member of the Main Street Baptist
Church in Lake City. She is preceded in death by her husband, Hugh D. Foster,
Sr.; brothers, Clyde H. Wilson, and J. Winfrey Wilson, and parents, W.J. and
Maggie Cooper Wilson. Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Robert
D. Stallard, of Clinton; son and daughter-in-law, Hugh D., Jr. and Jane
Foster of Clinton; grandchildren, Karen Sullivan and husband,Tom, Mark
Stallard and wife Lisa, Kendell Foster, and Kerry Foster and wife Mary;
great-grandchildren, Michael, Bryan, Aaron, T.J., Kiah, Emily, and
Christopher; brothers, Luther C. Wilson and wife Willie of Lake City, and Ben
H. Wilson and wife Ollie of Lake City; several nieces and nephews, and many
friends. Visitation 6-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Cox-Martin
Funeral Home, with funeral to follow at 8:30 p.m. in the Cox-Martin Chapel
with Rev. Don Martin officiating. Interment at 12 Noon Friday, April 13,
2001, at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Lake City.
NATION, SARAH HARRIET WAITS - age 85, of Sidney, Ohio, formerly of Claxton
Community, passed away Monday, April 9, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital in
Dayton, Ohio. She was born April 22, 1915, to the late Elijah and Jessie
(West) Waits. Mrs. Nation was also preceded in death by husband, Floyd
Nation; two sons; one daughter; three sisters, and one brother. She is
survived by sons, Ottis, James and Bobby of Sidney, Ohio, Benny of Orange
Park, Florida, Paul of Tipp City, Ohio; daughter, Glendith June Martz of
Sidney, Ohio; 25 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; four great-great
grandchildren, and one brother, J. M. Waits of Crossville. Funeral services
will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Woodhaven Funeral Home with
Rev. Charles Fritts officiating. Interment will follow in Woodhaven Memorial
Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Woodhaven

WARD, JOSIE WALKER - age 88, born April 14, 1912, in Little Greenbrier in the
Smoky Mountains, passed away at 11:04 Sunday at St. Mary's Residential
Hospice in Halls. Faithful lifetime servant of the Lord and member of Eighth
Ave. Church of God and Dutch Valley Church of God for over 50 years. Preceded
in death by husband, James David Ward. Left to cherish her memory: devoted
son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Joan Ward; devoted grandson, J. David Ward,
III; sister, and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Otis Shelton of Maryville, and
a host of loving nieces and nephews; adopted grandson, Frank Harrison, and
special friend, Peg McKissick. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30
p.m. Thursday with the funeral service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Dutch Valley
Church of God with Rev. Jack Dean and Rev. Corky Alexander officiating.
Interment 10 a.m. Friday at Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers: Andy Hurst,
Calvin Hicks, Tony Metler, J.V. Doan Jr., Rev. Jim Mulkey, Rev. Darren
Hatfield, Jim Taylor and Rubel Harrison. Honorary pallbearers: Rev. Daniel
Lynch, Harold Fowler, Joe Doan Sr., Roy Conley, Francis Cain, Raymond Pruett,
Alvin Wood and Jack Starkey. The family requests donations to the Scholarship
Fund at St. Mary's Residential Hospice in Halls, in lieu of flowers.
