ADAMS, GEORGE DOUGLAS - age 88, of Oak Ridge, passed away Friday, March 30,
2001, in Greenville, S.C. Retired welder/Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
Member of Fairview Baptist Church and Gideon International. Preceded in death
by a son, Spencer Adams in 1969. Survived by wife, Vivian Deaver Adams; son,
Dennis K. Adams and wife Pam of Pierson, Florida; daughters, Vicki Morton and
husband C. H. of Greenville, S.C., and Jackie Roberts and husband Norris of
Cartersville, Ga.; sisters, Martha Adams and Frances Evans, both of
Charlotte, N.C.; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral
services are Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary with
Rev. Jeff Dew officiating. Burial will follow at McCarty Woodhaven Memorial
Gardens in Claxton. Memorials may be made to Gideon International of Oak
Ridge, PO Box 213, Oak Ridge, TN 37831-0213. The family will receive friends
on Tuesday, April 3, 2001, from 12:30-2 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary, Oak
Ridge.
CLAIBORNE, ANNE MARY - age 82, of Oak Ridge died 3:40 a.m. Sunday, April 1,
2001 at NHC of Oak Ridge. Former member of Oakwood Baptist Church. Preceded
in death by parents, Charles & Iva Claiborne. She retired from the Department
of Commerce in Washington, D.C. Survivors: brother and sister in law, Carl E.
& Maxine Claiborne, Knoxville; sisters & brothers in law, Rosalind & Dan
Clements, Nashville, Tenn., Neva & George Burke, Oak Ridge, Tenn., Ruth &
James Rose, Tellico Village, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews. Family and
friends will meet 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Cemetery for an 11 a.m.
graveside service, Dr. C. Glenn Sullivan officiating. Stevens Mortuary,
Oglewood Ave. at Broadway in charge.
DUNCAN, DELORAS BUNCH - age 88 of Copeland Rd. Clinton made her final journey
home to Heaven on April 1, 2001. She was born October 12, 1912 in Anderson
County. Mrs. Duncan was the last surviving Charter member of South Clinton
Baptist Church. She was retired from Anderson County Schools Food Service
Department. She worked at South Clinton Elementary School for 26 years. She
was preceded in death by husband, Clarence C. Duncan; daughter, Cynthia
Broyles; parents, Milus and Martha Bunch; brother, Hoye and Eroy Bunch;
sisters, Stella Duncan and Elizabeth Overton. Mrs. Duncan is survived by
daughters and sons in law, Sue and Ralph McFarland, Mary Lou and Jake Lamb
all of Clinton; grandchildren, Kevin and Holly Lamb of Virginia, Scott Lamb,
Alan and Sandy McFarland, Beryl and Mike Cook all of Clinton, and Cheryl
McFarland of Knoxville; great grandchildren, Jacob, Skyla, Aaron and Hope
Lamb, Trina Archer and Dee Dee McFarland; one great-great grandchild, Alexis
McFarland; sister in law, Vera Bunch of Clinton; nieces, Nancy, Martha and
Dorothy; nephew, J.H. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p. m. on Monday
4-2-01 at Holley-Gamble in Clinton. Services following visitation with Rev.
John Shaw. Graveside services will be on Tuesday 10:30 a.m. at Anderson
Memorial Gardens. Holley-Gamble in Clinton in charge of arrangements.
WALDEN, REV. JOHN TIPTON (J.T.) - age 73, of LaFollette, passed away
Saturday, March 31, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. He
was a member of the Church of God and a minister for over 50 years with the
Cleveland Assembly, a member of the LaFollette Masonic Lodge #623 F & A.M.,
32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and retired as an Insurance Agent for the
Commonwealth Life Insurance Company. Preceded in death by his wife, Lorene A.
Walden; son, Gary Wayne Walden; father, Rev. Mit N. Walden; mother, Nora E.
Walden; four brothers, Leland, Roy Lee, Charles and Paul Walden, and two
sisters, Bonnie Smiddy and Carrie Mae Walden. Survivors: brothers, Mit Walden
Jr. of LaFollette, and Larry K. Walden of Clinton; sisters, Betty Donald of
Maryville, Ruby Dupuy of LaFollette, and Della Lambert of Speedwell; 15
nephews; 15 nieces, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral
services Monday 8 p.m. at Walters Chapel with Rev. Ed Smiddy and Rev. Darrell
Reese officiating. Eulogy by his nephew, Ron Ayers. Graveside services and
interment Tuesday 10 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery with Rev. Pat Ayers
officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, before
services at Walters Funeral Home. Walters Funeral Home, LaFollette, in charge
of arrangements.
WRIGHT, WILLIAM H. (BILL) - age 79, of Clinton, passed away Sunday, April 1,
2001, at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, Tenn. He was born
December 15, 1921, in Campbell Co. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and
family, baseball, racing, and camping. Mr. Wright retired from Revco Drugs in
Knoxville. He served in the Army during World War II. Preceded in death by
parents, John and Pearl Wright; five sisters and three brothers. He is
survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia Wright of Clinton; sons, Glen and
wife Glenna of Clinton, Bill Jr. and wife Melinda Wright of Clinton;
daughter, Margarete and husband W. L. Bunch of Jonesboro, Ga.; seven
grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, June Wright of Clinton, Ruth
and husband Don Zenner of Clinton, Johnny Hoskins of Knoxville, Grace Overton
of LaFollette; brothers, Bobby and wife Lois Wright of Kettering, Ohio, and
Woody and wife Erma Wright of Dayton, Ohio; several special nieces and
nephews, and lots of special friends. Funeral service will be 8 p.m. Tuesday,
April 3, 2001, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Samuel
Condon and Rev. Troy Keaton officiating. Graveside services will be 11 a.m.
Wednesday at Baker Forge Cemetery in LaFollette, Tenn. The family will
receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home, Clinton.
