BAILEY, BOY (BUDDY) - age 57 of Maynardville passed away suddenly Wednesday
afternoon, February 28, 2001 at St. Mary's Medical Center. Member of Nave
Hill Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, Jack and Pansy Bailey;
several brothers and sisters; son, Ronald Leon Bailey. Survivors: wife, Ruby
Jean (Nicley) Bailey; sons and daughters in law, Buster and Connie Bailey,
Joey and Becky Bailey, Tim and Valerie Bailey, Tony and Sarah Bailey;
daughter and son in law, Martha and Larry Savage; all of Maynardville;
brother and sister in law, Joe and Louise Bailey, Blaine; sister, Bernice
Nicley, Luttrel; several grandchildren; nieces; nephews and a host of
friends. Funeral services 2 p.m. Saturday, Cooke Mortuary Chapel, Rev.
Calvin Chesney, Rev. Robert West, Rev. Leon Nicely officiating with the
Seals Family Singers. Interment Nicley Family Cemetery, Maynardville.
Pallbearers: Chad Chesney, Daris Braden, Jim George, Max George, Martin

JOHNSON, MISS NELLE MARIE - age 60 of Hickory Valley Road, Maynardville
passed away Thursday afternoon, March 1, 2001. She was preceded in death by
parents, Claude and Ruby (Ousley) Johnson. Survivors: brother, Gary Johnson,
Maynardville; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Graveside services and
interment 11 a.m. Saturday, Big Barren Cemetery, Maynardville with Rev.
Luther Cox officiating. Arrangements by Cooke Mortuary, Maynardville

MASSENGILL, BOB - age 62, of Lake City died March 1, 2001 at the Methodist
Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Mr. Massengill was a machine setup man by
trade. He enjoyed camping, traveling and working in his yard with his
flowers. Mr. Massengill was preceded in death by his father, Lauton
Massengill; two brothers, Ernest Massengill and Donald Massengill; one
grandson, James Ray Hunley. Mr. Massengill is survived by his wife, Anna Lou
Massengill; a son, Paul Ray Massengill of Lake City; two daughters, Debroah
Napier and husband, Mike Napier of Clinton and Melissa Hunley and husband,
James Hunley III of Andersonville. Mr. Massengill is survived by a sister,
Anna Lou Roberts and husband, Bob Roberts of Virginia Beach, Va.; six
grandchildren, Chasity Massengill of Clinton, DeAnna Taylor of Clinton, John
Napier and Andrew Napier of Seymour, Brittany Hugley and KayLee Hugley of
Andersonville; two children by heart, Robbie Lowe of Clinton and Frank D.
Cox of Clinton; and a host of loving relatives and caring friends. The
funeral will be at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2001 at the Willowbrook
Baptist Church in Lake City with the Rev. Roger Leach and the Rev. Tom Byrge
officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery on Sunday March 4,
3001 at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6-8:30 p.m. Saturday at
the Willowbrook Baptist Church located at 820 N. Main Street Lake City. The
Oliver Springs Mortuary will be in charge of the arrangements.

BLAIR, HERMAN K. - age 85, of Oak Ridge, passed away Tuesday, February 27,
2001, at his home. He was a retired Purchasing Agent with Rust Engineering
and Ferguson Engineering. He was a member of Central Baptist Church.
Survived by daughters, Marlene Streetman and husband Kibbee and Carol Taylor
and husband Ron, all of Oak Ridge; granddaughters, Stacey Jones and husband
Keith of Knoxville and Catherine Taylor of Oak Ridge; grandson, Michael
Taylor and wife Julie of Jasper, Teen., and three great-grandchildren, Paul
Jones and Micah Jones of Knoxville and Mills Taylor of Jasper, Tenn. Funeral
services will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2001, at 8 p.m. at Weatherford
Mortuary with Rev. Bob Gray and Rev. David Hall officiating. Mr. Blair will
then be taken to Bordwine Funeral Home in Etowah, Tenn., where the family
will receive friends on Friday, March 2, 2001, from 1-2 p.m. , and burial
will follow in Greenhill Cemetery in Etowah. The family asks that memorials
be made to Covenant HomeCare and Hospice "Patient Care", 700 S. Illinois
Ave., Oak Ridge, TN 37830, in recognition of the loving care given to Mr.
Blair during his final days. The family will receive friends on Thursday,
March 1, 2001, from 6:30-8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge.

HAMMOCK, JACKSON LEE "JACK" - age 61, of Norris, passed away Tuesday,
February 27, 2001, at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, after being
in receding health for several years. He was of the Baptist faith. Jack was
born May 25, 1939, in Anderson County. Preceded in death by father, Rev.
Clarence Hammock. Survivors: wife, Ann Chilton Hammock of Norris; daughters,
Gail Cunningham and husband Randy of Halls, Pamela Harmon and husband Joe of
Andersonville, and Sherry Stooksbury and husband Gerald of Andersonville;
mother, Jean Hammock of Clinton; grandchildren, Jodi and Callie Harmon and
Mallory Stooksbury, all of Andersonville; brother, Robert A. Hammock and
wife Judy of Camas, Wash.; sisters, Doris Sexton of Dalton, Ga., Betty
Carden and husband Benny of Norris, and Diane Lewis and husband Mike of
Clinton; sisters-in-law, Mary Rhea and husband Ron of Oak Ridge, Rebecca
Jenkins and husband Richard of Oliver Springs, and Martha Whitson of
Knoxville; brothers-in-law, Thomas Chilton of Mobile, Ala., George Chilton
II of Andersonville, and John and Sam Chilton, both of Clinton; several
nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday,
February 28, 2001, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Graveside
service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, March 1, at Bethel Baptist Church
Cemetery with brother-in-law, Benny Carden presiding. Memorials may be made
to East Tennessee Children's Hospital, c/o The Development Office, P.O. Box
15010, Knoxville, TN 37901-5010. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home, of Clinton, in
charge of all arrangements.

SCHEITLIN, RUTH C. - age 78, of Oak Ridge, passed away Tuesday, February 27,
2001, at her home. Mrs. Scheitlin came to Oak Ridge from Norton, Va., in
June, 1944, and worked briefly on the Manhattan project. During this time,
she met and married Frank M. Scheitlin on March 19, 1949, the day the gates
of Oak Ridge were opened to the public. She was well known in Oak Ridge and
had a wide circle of friends. Mrs. Scheitlin was a devoted daughter, sister,
wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She is
survived by three daughters, Jeanne Draughn (Fred Jones) of Kingston, Tenn.,
Elaine Scheitlin (Chip Cappelletti) of Durham, N.C., and Carol Boruff (Gary)
of Charlotte, N.C.; grandsons, Jody Mitchell (Sue) of Brentwood, Tenn., and
Max Palmer of Durham, N.C.; great-grandsons, Ian and Tyler Mitchell of
Brentwood, Tenn.; sister, Wilma Trebilcox (Paul) of Crossville, Tenn.;
niece, Barbara Smith (James) of Powell, Tenn.; great niece, Shannon (Steve)
Mathewson and their son Logan; mother-in-law, Alberta Hitch and
sister-in-law, Dorothy Shaw, both of Evansville, Ind. Frank Sheitlin, her
husband of 48 years, her mother, Carrie Lawson, her sister, Evelyn Robinson,
and her nephew, Michael Robinson preceded her in death. A memorial service
will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2001, at 11 a.m. at the United Church
Chapel on the Hill with Dr. Boyd Carter officiating. Weatherford Mortuary,
Oak Ridge, is in charge of the arrangements.

DAVIES, MAMIE HUDSON - age 93, of Oak Ridge, formerly of Knoxville, died
Sunday, February 25, 2001, at Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge. She was a
member of Rocky Hill Baptist Church. Survivors: sister, Pearl Lyndon of Oak
Ridge and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will meet
Wednesday at Highland Memorial Cemetery for a 10 a.m. graveside service, Dr.
Terry Kirby officiating. Pallbearers will be nephews. Rose Mortuary Mann
Heritage Chapel, in charge of arrangements.
