CORUM, WILLIAM LAFAYETT, SR. - 84, Oak Ridge, died at his home on Friday,
October, 2000. Born in Corryton, Tenn. on March 27, 1916 to parents Sam and
Ella Tharp Corum. A veteran with the US Army during WWII. Preceded in death
by son, William Lafayett Corum, Jr., 1990. Survivors include: wife, Pauline
Jones Corum, Oak Ridge; sons, David Corum and wife, Karen, Princeton, Ky.,
Kenneth Corum, Chattanooga; daughters Dorothy Gault and husband, Michael, Oak
Ridge, Melvie Diane Burgess, Morristown; 2 brothers; 1 sister; daughter in
law, Ellie Corum, Dalton, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held on Monday 10/23/00 11 a.m. at Oak Ridge
Memorial Park with Rev., Michael Johnson officiating. Please send donations
to Covenant Home Care Hospice, 700 South Illinois Ave., Suite A-202, Oak
Ridge, Tenn., 37830. The family will receive friends tonight (Sunday) 6-8
p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge.
GREEN, ROBERT J. - age 62, of Briceville, Tenn., passed away Saturday,
October 21, 2000 at UT Medical Center in Knoxville, Tenn. Robert was a member
of Laura Grove Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents,
William & Lizzie Bailey Green. Survivors: wife, Susan Green of Briceville,
Tenn.; son, Tim and wife, Stacie Green of Briceville, Tenn.; brothers,
Charlie Green of Briceville, Virgil Green of Lake City; sister, Beaulah Naomi
Byrum of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; 2 half brothers and 2 half sisters ; and a host of
other relatives & friends. The family will receive friends on Monday, October
23, 2000 from 6-8 p.m. at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City. The
funeral will follow at 8 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will Tuesday October
24, 2000 at 11 a.m. at the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Briceville. Holley-Gamble
Funeral Home in Lake City in charge of arrangements.
KOPROWSKI, THEORORE E. - age 79, of Oak Ridge, passed away Thursday, October
19, at Methodist Medical Center. A native of New York City, Mr. Koprowski
attended Corneal University, and graduated from Ohio State University. While
at Corneal, he played hockey, also was an avid golfer. At Ohio State, he
played baseball, as well as playing baseball after college. He was retired
from Union Carbide and Lockheed Martin after 50 years of service as a
chemical engineer. Mr. Koprowski was preceded in death by his parents, who
were Polish immigrants to the United States, his wife, Geraldine Koprowski,
and a sister, Wanda Stella. Survivors include two daughters, Sandy Nelson of
Knoxville, and Karen Koprowski of Oak Ridge; a son, Steve Koprowski of West
Virginia; one granddaughter, Ashely Nelson of Knoxville; one sister, Laura
Zurowski, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted
at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Martin Oak Ridge Chapel. Cremation will follow the
services. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at Martin Oak
Ridge Funeral Home, 1017 Turnpike, Oak Ridge. 483-4341
McCARTY, JUNE MARIE - 42, Oak Ridge, died on Sat. Oct. 21, 2000 at her home.
June married Joe McCarty on Sept. 12, 1981. She was baptized on June 15, 1994
at Central Baptist Church. She is a member of Christ Community Church, Oak
Ridge and was active in the church's LAMBS Women's Ministry. Preceded in
death by mother, Virginia Graziani Buchanan. Survivors include: father,
Howard Buchanan, Sr.; and step mother, Jeanine, Lecanto, FL; husband, Joseph
Kent McCarty, Oak Ridge; son, Jason Samuel McCarty, of the home; daughter,
Jenna Lorraine McCarty, of the home; brothers, Jess Buchanan and wife,
Danette, Follansbee, W. Va., Howard Buchanan, Jr. and wife, Lorraine, Tampa,
FL; sister, Bonnie Torino and husband, John Belleview, FL; nieces & nephews,
Jeremy and Tyler Buchanan, W. Va., Jessica and Nicholas Torino, Belleview, W.
Va., Blake Buchanan, Tampa, Fla. Funeral service will be held on Mon., Oct.
23, 2000, 8 p.m. at Central Baptist Church, Oak Ridge with Pastor Tom Job and
Pastor Steve Gooch officiating. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday
at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family requests that any memorials be in the
form of donations to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Breast Cancer
Center, PO Box 11772, Knoxville, TN., 37939 or to the Christ Community
Church, Foreign Mission Fund, 100 Nolan Rd. Oak Ridge, TN, 37830. The family
will receive friends Monday, 6-8 p.m. At Central Baptist Church. Weatherford
Mortuary in charge.
OLVEY, HELEN M. - age 73, West Hemlock St., Lafayette passed away quietly
Fri., Oct. 20, 2000, at her home. A member of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Olive
was a retired school teacher with 27 yrs. of service with the Campbell County
School System. Preceded in death by her parents, Harley & Grave Pierce
Ellison & brother, Ralph Ellison. Mrs. Olvey is survived by her beloved
husband, James O. "Joe" Olvey, Sr.; sons & daughters in law, James Jr. &
Billie Jean Olvey, George & Becky Olvey, Tom & Susan Olvey; and a daughter,
Janet Lambdin; four grandchildren, Dustin Olvey, Zachary Olvey, Amber Olvey &
K.J. Olvey; special brother in law, & wife, Lynn & Shirley Yount; several
nieces nephews, and a host of other relatives & friends. Funeral 8 p.m. Sun.
Oct. 22, 2000 Martin Wilson Funeral Home Rev. Casper "Tip" Moore officiating.
Interment 10:30 a.m. Monday Woodlawn Cem. Family will receive friends Sun.

WALLS, MRS. BETTYE J. SMITH - of LaFollette, passed away Friday, October 20,
2000 at her home. She was of the Methodist faith, a retired nurse, and was
preceded in death by her husband, Charles T. Walls; parents, Marshall and
Lola Smith; and brother, Michael Smith. Survivors: close friend and
caregiver, Barbara Weaver, LaFollette; several cousins, other relatives and
friends. Graveside services and interment Monday, 10 a.m. at Woodlawn
Cemetery with Rev. Malcolm Walmsley officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8
p.m. Sunday at Walters Funeral Home. Walters Funeral Home, LaFollette in
charge of arrangements.
