BACON, MILDRED - 77, of LaFollette, died Sat. Oct. 14, 2000 at the LaFollette
Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced
later by Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel.

BLAY, ALLEN JAMES - 78, of the Claxton Community in Powell, passed away Fri.,
Oct. 13, 2000, at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. He was a member
of First Baptist Church in Old Hickory, TN. He was a retired Experimental
Machinist with Union Carbide Y-12 Plant. He was a 50 year Mason with Newport,
Vermont Masonic Lodge. Mr. Blay was a United States Army Air Corp. veteran.
Preceded in death by parents, James & Amy Wilson Blay; sister, Edna Hazelton
& brother, Leonard Blay. Born August 29, 1922 in Newport, Vermont. Survivors:
wife, June Nighbert Blay of Powell; daughter, Barbara Dotson & husband, Barry
of Memphis; son, James E. Blay & wife, Monica of Albuquerque, New Mexico;
grandsons, Jeffrey Nixon & Matthew Nixon; great grandson, Jacob Nixon; 1
niece & 1 nephew. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Mon. Oct. 16,
2000, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with funeral service following
at 8 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Samuel Dean officiating. Interment will be
held 10:30 a.m. Tues. Oct. 17th, at Lynnhurst Cemetery in Knoxville with full
military honors. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home of Clinton in charge.

RAINS, ALLINE - 82, passed away Fri., Oct. 13, 2000 at the LaFollette Medical
Center in LaFollette, Tenn. She was a member of Cherry Bottom Baptist Church.
She was the owner of Rains Grocery Store for 30 years. She is preceded in
death by her husband, Clyde Rains; parents, Ed & Clara Seagraves McGhee.
Survivors include: daughter, Mary Ruth & husband, Everette Jennings of
Caryville; sons, Jim Rains of Caryville, TN, Jackie and wife, Della Rains of
Caryville, TN; grandchildren, Tim Jennings of Andersonville, TN, Tammie Leach
of Caryville, TN, Terry Jennings of Columbia, TN, Missy Houck of Lake City,
TN, Kelli Goodman of Caryville, TN; great grandchildren, Ashley and Courtney
Leach, Mary Elizabeth & Elijah Jennings, Amber Rains, Nathan Goodman;
brothers, Boots McGhee of Jamestown, TN, Jr. McGhee of Baltimore, MD.;
sisters, Minnie Shetterly of Lake City, TN, Lillian Rains of Columbus, Ohio,
Collene Wright of Muncie, Ind., Catherine Smith of Jamestown, TN; several
nieces and nephews. Funeral well be 2 p.m. Mon. October 16, 2000 at Cherry
Bottom Baptist Church with the Rev. J.T. Leach, Rev. Charles Harness and Rev.
Rick Howard officiating. Family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. Sun. at
Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City, Tenn.

STEWART, BERNICE SINCLAIR WEDDLE - age 77, a resident of Oak Ridge, passed
away Fri., Oct. 13, 2000. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 8 p.m. at
Sharp Funeral Home. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Tues. at the funeral home. Graveside
services, Wed., 11 a.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
