RAPP, KARL EDWIN, JR. - age 84, of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday, October 11,
2000, at his home. Retired Chemical Engineer with Union Carbide Corp. K-25.
Charter member and elder of First Christian Church. Member of the American
Chemical Society, E. TN Chapter, Alumni of University of Kentucky and member
of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. Member of the Union Carbide "Silver Tops"
Retiree's Assn., Oak Ridge Playhouse, and Oak Ridge Art Center. Preceded in
death by first wife, Martha Wood Lee Rapp in May, 1972. Survived by: wife of
25 years, Helen Stone Rapp of Oak Ridge; sons, Karl E. Rapp III and wife Jean
Schiffman Rapp of Knoxville, and Lane Jameson Rapp DDS of Galax, Va.; five
grandchildren, James Whaley Rapp and wife Margaret of Martin, Tenn., Karl E.
Rapp IV and wife Jeane of Oak Ridge, Shannon Hussey and husband Dr. Richard
Hussey of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Lane Jameson Rapp, Jr., medical student at
University of Minnesota, and Adam Rapp of Gaithersburg, Md.; one
great-grandchild, Taylor McClain Rapp of Martin, Tenn. A Memorial Service
will be held on Monday, October 16, 2000, at 2:30 p.m. at the First Christian
Church with Rev. Jesse Bradshaw officiating. The family will receive friends
at the church immediately following the Memorial Service. Memorials may be
made to the First Christian Church, 203 Michigan Avenue, Oak Ridge, TN 37830,
or to the American Diabetes Association, Anderson County Chapter, PO Box
2529, Oak Ridge, TN 37831-2529. Weatherford Mortuary of Oak Ridge, in charge
of arrangements.
