ELIZABETH JEAN BAIRD, 66, of Jellico, died Sunday, October 8 at her home.
She was preceded in death by; daughter, Ruby Charlene Smith; grandsons,
Joseph Reed, and Allie Chambers. Survivors include; husband, Clifford Baird ;
sons, Bobby Joe Chambers of Arcadia, Florida, and Kelsey Ray Chambers of Glen
Falls, New York; daughters, Brenda K. McIntosh of Clarksville, Indiana, Karen
Sue Booker of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Shirley Faye Hackworth of Clinton,
Janet Geraldine Worth of Arcadia, Florida, and Goldie Leechevia Rogers of
Indianapolis, Indiana; sixteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 11 at Harp Funeral Home Chapel
with Rev. Denny Wayne Davis officiating. Interment followed in Douglas
Cemetery.
SANDY CHAPMAN, 45, of Lake City, died Saturday, October 7 at the Methodist
Medical Center in Oak Ridge. She was preceded in death by; parents, Glenn and
Inez Foust. Survivors include; husband, Billy Joe Chapman; daughter, Deidra
Fritts of Lake City; grandchildren, Samantha Boruff, and Donavon Boruff, both
of Lake City; sisters, Brenda Bishop, and Shona Shultz, both of Clinton, Kay
Maiden, and Sheila Poore, both of Lake City; and brother, Larry "Bow" Foust
of Clinton.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 10 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home
in Lake City with Rev. Terry Slover officiating. Interment followed in Foust
Cemetery, Lake City.
HOWARD EDWARD KENNEDY, 57 of Pioneer, died Monday, October 2 at Jellico
Community Hospital. He is survived by; brothers, Robert Kennedy of
Wooldridge, and Charles Blackwell of Dayton, Ohio; and several nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 6 at Llewellyn Funeral Home Chapel
in Jellico with Rev. David Morgan officiating. Interment followed in Warren
Memorial Cemetery in Elk Valley.
GRETA LEACH, 92, of Speedwell, died Monday, October 2 at Tri State
Comprehensive Care Center in Harrogate. She was preceded in death by;
husband, David Leach; son, Glen Leach; and sister, Gusta Leach. Survivors
include; sister, Dallis Maddox; granddaughter, Debra Bowen of Louisa,
Kentucky; and daughter-in-law, Jerlene Leach of Louisa, Kentucky; several
nieces, relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 3 at Reece Funeral Home Valley
Chapel with Pastor Roger Leach officiating. Graveside service followed by
interment Wednesday, October 4 in Leach Family Cemetery.
OPAL IRENE MUSE, 68, of Caryville, died Thursday, October 5 at LaFollette
Medical Center. She was preceded in death by; parents, George and Leoda
Smith; and brother, Billy Ray Smith. Survivors include; husband, Hoyt Muse;
brother, Robert Smith of Caryville; and sisters, Betty Robbins of Baltimore,
Maryland, Wilma Finley of LaFollette, and Lucille Campbell of Youngstown,
Ohio.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 8 at Cross Funeral Home Chapel
with Rev. Leonard Dabney and Rev. Robert Adkins officiating. Interment
followed in Campbell Memorial Gardens.
HERMAN D. RYAN, 39, of Cincinnati, Ohio, died Monday, September 25 at
University Hospital. He was preceded in death by; father, Buddy Ray Ryan;
grandparents, Chris and Rosie Walden, Herman Ryan, and Tava Lay. Survivors
include; sons, Travis Ryan, and Spencer Ryan, both of Norwood, Ohio; mother,
Louise Walden Ryan of Norwood, Ohio; sisters, Karen Brockoff of Cincinnati,
Ohio, and Renee Martin of Milford, Ohio; brother, Buddy Ryan, Jr. of Austin,
Texas; aunts, uncles, and a host of friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 28 at Floral Church of God in
Norwood, Ohio . Interment followed in Vine Street Cemetery. Witt-Good &
Kelsch Funeral Home of Oakley, Ohio in charge of arrangements.
NANNIE LOUISE SMITH, 88, of Caryville, died Monday, October 9 at LaFollette
Medical Center. She was preceded in death by; husbands, Posey Cook, and
Alfred Smith; and son, Bobby Cook. Survivors include; daughters, Mary Wilson,
Wanda Farmer, and Betty Ward, all of Caryville, Zola Donaldson of Powell, and
Sharon Cawood of Knoxville; sons, Charles Cook, Aubrey Cook, Bobby Cook, Jr.,
and Roy Smith, all of Jacksboro, and Gordon Smith, and Gene Smith, both of
Caryville; brother, Gene Kingsley of Caryville; twenty-nine grandchildren;
thirty-two great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 11 at Cross Funeral Home Chapel
with Rev. Joby Byrge and Rev. David Walker officiating. Interment will follow
today (Thursday), October 12 at 11 a.m. in Campbell Memorial Gardens.
THOMAS RAY STEELE, 82, of Lake City, died Saturday, October 7 at Rockwood
Health Care in Rockwood. he was a member of Coal Creek Lodge #492 , a veteran
of the U. S. Army, serving during WWII, and he was retired from Union Carbide.
He is survived by; daughter, Diane Agee of Harriman; grandchildren, Thomas H.
Solomom of Lake City, and Denise Bilbrey of Knoxville; two
great-grandchildren; special friend, Christa Keyes of Caryville; two nieces;
and one sister-in-law.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 9 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Brian Courtney officiating, and with the Masonic Service
prior. Graveside service followed by interment Tuesday, October in Sunset
Cemetery, Clinton.
EMMA SUE TUCKER SUMMERFIELD, 65, of Lake City, died Sunday, October 8.
She was preceded in death by; parents, Ace and Ruth Parnell Tucker; and
brothers, Paul Edward Tucker, and George "Froggy" Tucker. Survivors include;
daughters, Deborah Kay Kesterson of Clinton, and Brenda Gail Karnuth of Lake
City; sons, Paul David Carden, and Gregory Stephen Carden, both of Knoxville,
and Michael Wayne Carden of Clinton; nine grandchildren; sister, Mildred
Spears of Lake City; brothers, Lloyd Tucker of Powell, Lewis Tucker, and Bob
Tucker, both of Lake City, Harold Tucker of Clinton, and Jim Tucker of
California; and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 10 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. George Miller officiating. Graveside service followed by
interment Wednesday, October 11 in Leach Cemetery.
