JOHNSON, MILDRED CAPPIELLO - 79, died Thursday night, October 5, 2000 at
Parkwest Hospital die to complications that arose after laproscopic gall
bladder surgery. Born in Hendersonville, NC, Mrs. Cappiello-Johnson obtained
her college degree at Asheville Teacher's College at age 19 and began her
Graduate studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill before
coming to Oak Ridge in 1945 after teaching for two yeas in Bryson City, NC.
Mrs. Cappiello-Johnson is preceded in death by her first husband, A.P.
Cappiello, Sr.; her parents, Robert and Belle Pace, and siblings, Feu Pace,
Dolly Pace, H.E. "Buddy" Pace, and Beatrice Pace King. Mrs. Cappiello-Johnson
is survived by her son, A.P. Cappiello, Jr. "Tony"; her daughter, Candance E.
Cappiello; her husband, Ben Johnson; her sister, Edna Janet Pace; and her
brother, J. Mitchell Pace. The family will be receiving friends from 6-7:30
p.m. Sunday evening, October 8, 2000 with the funeral service to follow at
McCarty-Martin Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted Monday
morning at 11 a.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with a luncheon honoring Mrs.
Cappiello-Johnson at her home immediately following the service. Should you
wish to give a donation in lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be
directed to either Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) Research in
memory of Mildred Cappiello-Johnson, Mayo Foundation Development Dept. 2000
First Street SW, Rochester, Minn. 55902; or to Dana Baptist Church, c/o J.M.
Pace Route 19, Box 632, Hendersonville, NC 28792 in memory of Mildred pace
Cappiello where her family helped build the church 65 years ago. For further
information, the family requests that you contact the McCarty-Martin Funeral
Home in Oak Ridge.
