BARKER, CRISTY WILLIAMS - age 31, of Clinton, killed suddenly in a car
accident Thursday, September 28, 2000. She was a loving mother, daughter and
granddaughter. She was a member of Norris United Methodist Church. She
enjoyed crafts and reading. Preceded in death by grandparents, Harvey & Nola
Williams; grandfather, W. Shade Loy; uncle, Trent Williams. Born December 21,
1968 in Atlanta, Ga. Survivors: daughter, Michaela Barker of Clinton;
Michaela's father, George Barker of Speedwell; parents, Harlan & Myrna Loy
Williams of Clinton; grandmother, Ethel Loy of Clinton; aunts, Audrey & Carl
Leitten of Lenoir City, Judy & Tyrone Foster of Heiskell, Kay & Charles Price
of Chattanooga; uncles, William & Betty Loy of Tucker, Ga., Mitchell & Geneva
Williams of Clinton, Ray & Ruth Williams of Clinton, Ambia Ottinger of
Dandridge; several cousins and a host of friends. The family will receive
friends 1:30-3 p.m. Sunday October 1st, at Norris United Methodist Church in
Norris with Rev. Catherine Nance officiating. Interment will follow at
Sinking Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home
of Clinton in charge of all arrangements.
SAFFELS, MABLE GREGORY - 67, Oak Ridge, died at the Methodist Medical Center
on Friday, September 29, 2000. Born on 7-27-1933 in Knoxville to parents,
Wade and Flossie Loveday Gregory. A homemaker, Baptist faith. Descendants of
the Gregorys from Cades Cove. Following the death of her husband in 1997,
Mrs. Saffels came to Oak Ridge. Enjoyed sewing, growing flowers, gardening,
shopping, and upholstering of furniture. Preceded in death by husband,
Darrell Saffels, 1997; sister, Bernice Bivens; brother, Ronald Gregory; great
grandchild, Courtney Hammond. Survivors include: daughters, Charlotte Givens
and husband, Buzz, Knoxville, Peggy Condra and husband, Dale, Oak Ridge,
Sheila Crow, Oak Ridge, Sandi Messenger and husband, Vernon, Oak Ridge,
Rebecca Pratt and husband, Ken, Clinton, Joy Saffels, Oak Ridge, Sherrie
Carnicy and husband, Shannon, Plant City, Fla.; brother, Bud Gregory,
Madisonville, Tenn.; sisters, Zelma Hancock, Strawberry Plains, Tenn., Wanda
Fritz, Nancy Gregory, Sharon Fields, and Kathy Gregory, all of Knoxville; 13
grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held on Monday,
10-2-00, 8 p.m. in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with Rev. R. Boyd
Carter officiating. Graveside service will be Tuesday, 1 p.m. Sunrise
Cemetery Englewood, Tenn. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Assoc.
of Tenn. 1808 West End Ave. Suite 514 Nashville, Tenn. 37203. The family will
receive friends tonight (Monday) 6-8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge.
