GOINS, ARCHIE - age 72, of LaFollette, passed away Tuesday, September 26,
2000, at the LaFollette Medical Center. He was a member and Deacon of the
Long Hollow Missionary Baptist Church and member of LaFollette Masonic Lodge
#623 F&AM. He was a retired Postal Employee, having worked at the LaFollette
Post Office for 35 years. Preceded in death by parents, James Thed and
Phoebie (Lumpkins) Goins; three brothers and one sister. Survivors: wife,
Magdalene Robbins Goins of LaFollette; sons and daughter-in-law, Marvin Goins
of LaFollette, and Lynn and Brenda Goins of LaFollette; three grandchildren;
five great-grandchildren; brothers, Jack Goins of Sidney, Ohio, and Ray Goins
of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Claudia Walker of Sidney, Ohio. Funeral services 8
p.m. Thursday, September 28, at Cross Chapel, Rev. O.D. Hill and Rev. Bo
Perkins officiating. Interment 11 a.m. Friday at Campbell Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Cross Funeral Home.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Longhollow
Missionary Baptist Church, PO Box 85, LaFollette, TN 37766. Arrangements by
Cross Funeral Home.

RIVERS, HARVEY E. - age 82, of Anderson County, passed away Tuesday,
September 26, 2000. He was a member of Powell Masonic Lodge #582. Mr. Rivers
was an avid Atlanta Braves baseball fan and loved fishing. Preceded in death
by wife, Clara M. Rivers; brother, John, and sister Nellie. Survivors include
son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Cecelia Rivers of Andersonville; daughter
and son-in-law, Deborah and Thomas J. Cook of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren,
Edward, Tracie and Andy Rivers, Alisha and Tommy Cook, Jr.;
great-grandchildren, Ambur Babcock, Brooke Davenport, and Celeste Rivers.
Masonic funeral services by the Powell Masonic Lodge #582 will be held 7:30
p.m. Friday, September 29, 2000, at Woodhaven Funeral Home Chapel. Interment
with Military Honors will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2000, at
Woodhaven Memorial Gardens. Honors will be provided by East Tennessee Veteran
Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be
made to the Widows and Orphans Fund at Powell Masonic Lodge #582, c/o Fred A.
Medley, 8520 Ventis Lane, Powell, TN 37849. The family will receive friends
from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday at Woodhaven Funeral Home, 160 Edgemoor Rd., Powell,
TN 865-945-3461.
