BROOKS, OPAL RUTH LLOYD DUNCAN - age 72, of Clinton, passed away Friday,
September 1, 2000, after an extended illness. She was a member of Union
Valley Baptist Church in Oliver Springs. Preceded in death by first husband,
Albert Duncan; parents, Foust & Giritha Cecil Lloyd; several brothers &
sisters. Born February 28, 1927 in Campbell County. Survivors: husband, James
"Sonny" Brooks of Clinton; children, Jimmie Duncan & wife, Cookie of Clinton,
Lynnda Williams & husband, John of Farmingdale, NJ, Arnold Duncan 7 wife,
Mari Margaret of Clinton, Pamela Szabo & husband, John of Manalapan, NJ,
Carolyn Stanley & husband, Parker of Clinton, Bobby Duncan & wife, Sharon of
Clinton, Darlene Gray & husband, Eddie of Clinton, Tammy Curactolo of
Brooklyn, NY, Sandy Seavers & husband, Marshall of Arlington, TX, Michael
Brooks & wife, Lois of Clinton; sisters, Mildred Long & husband, Sid of
Clinton, Joyce Lloyd of Clinton, Jolene Phillips & husband, Jimmy of Oliver
Springs; brothers, Harold Lloyd & wife, Flora of Jamestown, Lewis Lloyd &
wife, Carolyn of Clinton, Johnny Lloyd of Clinton, Stanley Lloyd & wife,
Leudena of Jamestown; 19 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; and several
nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Sunday September
3rd, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral service will be held 2
p.m. Monday September 4th in the chapel with Rev. Calvin Braden officiating.
Interment will follow the service at McCarty-Woodhaven Memory Gardens in
Claxton. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home of Clinton in charge of all arrangements.
HOOKS, HESTER N. - age 80 of W. Walden Street LaFollette passed away Friday,
September 1, 2000 at the LaFollette Medical Center. She was a member of West
LaFollette Baptist Church. Hester was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, &
great grandmother. She enjoyed being with her family; attending church;
working in her flower garden and painting and she was a faithful Tennessee
Volunteer fan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Roscoe
Hooks, parents, Julius and Bertha Douglas Dilbeck; brother, Robert Dilbeck;
sisters, Mary Ellen Gibson Siler. She is survived by, son, Leonard Hooks &
special friend, Sharon White of LaFollette; daughters & sons in law, Joan &
Everette Evans of Powell, Nell Badacour of Chattanooga and Mary & Paul Silcox
of LaFollette; 12 grandchildren, Beverly Tackett & husband, Johnny of
Jacksboro, Jason Evans of Powell, Angela Franklin & husband, Michael of
Knoxville, Len Evans & wife, Melissa of Knoxville, Kat Thurman & husband,
Todd of Boca Raton, Fla., Dan Badacour & wife, Karla of Flintston, Ga.,
Christy Bodenhorn & husband, Duane of Nashville, Bob Badacour & wife, Lisa of
Ringgold, Ga., Karen Coppock & husband, Glenn of Knoxville, Erika Lambert &
husband, Chris of Louisville, Ky., David Silcox of Knoxville, and Brian
Huckaby of LaFollette; 11 great grandchildren; brother & sister in law, Mack
& Maude Dilbeck of Vasper; sisters & brothers in law, Marie & Charlie Bolton
of Jacksboro, Roberta & Oliver Daugherty and Charlene Evans all of
LaFollette. Several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and
friends. Funeral services 3 p.m. Sunday September 3, 2000 at West LaFollette
Baptist Church with Rev. Floyd Powell and Bro. Jerry Crutchfield officiating.
Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends
1-3 p.m. Sunday before services. Martin-Wilson Funeral Home of LaFollette in
charge of arrangements.
PATRICK, RUTH EVELYN - age 76, of Lexington, Ky., formerly of Campbell
County, passed away Friday morning, September 1, 2000, at St. Joseph Hospice,
Lexington. Preceded in death by husband, Shafter Patrick and parents, John
Mat and Tava (Lindsay) Wilson. Survivors: sons, Tommy Viehe, Texas, Mark
Viehe, Winchester, Ky.; daughters, Carol Gardner, Edwardsburg, Mich., Jeanne
White, Ohio; 7 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth
Duncan, Knoxville, Dorothy Cauthen, Mich., Lela Rohrmann, Penn., Kathryn
Cooper, Knoxville. Graveside services 4 p.m. Sunday, September 3, with
interment to follow at Cumberland View Cemetery, Jacksboro. Rev. Stephen
Doyle officiating. Arrangements by Cross Funeral Home.
