Hester and John were married in Grayson County Va. of this marriage these
are there 13 children
Ephraem born 1817 in Va.
Mahulda born in 1819 in VA.
Mahala born in 1822 in Va. or Ky.
Joseph Alexander Cooper born 1823 in Ky.
David born in 1825 in Tennessee
Sylvester born 1826 in Tn.
Melinda born 1827 in Tn.
Fountain born in 1831 in Tn.
Thomas W. born 1832 in Tn.
Lindsay born 1833 in Tn.
Matthew L. born 1835 in Tn.
Patience born 1837 in Tn.
William P born in 1829 in Tn.

According to a personal account by Joseph Alexander Cooper, John was born
in Maryland and went to Va as a young boy. He served in the war of 1812
under Capt. L. Hales. John and Hester married in Grayson county Va in 1814.
The first years of their marriage they lived in this same county and then
moved to near Somerset Ky. It was when Joseph was about a year old 1824...that
the family moved to a place 5 miles south of Jacksboro. This is where the
family homesteaded at. Hope that this helps. It is by Joseph's account
that I believe that there was yet another Cooper family in the area before
John and Hester came there. Debbie
