I am hoping someone might be able to assist me with my g-grandfather's family. I've been desparately trying to determine his father's name and have run into some real brick walls and confusing information.

So, what I'm hoping for is the possibility of a deed or will with my g-grandfather's name, James BROCK. James was born on December 25, 1858 (I "think" in TN) and died on December 15, 1922 in Jellico, Campbell Co., TN. That is a DEFINITE, FOR CERTAIN date of death/place.

Now, I do have a copy of James' death certificate. The confusion comes into play with the listing of his father's name on that certificate. The informant, Will BROCK, who was James' brother that lived in Newcomb at the time, lists James' father's name as Isaac BROCK. However, all of Will Brock's grandchildren knew Will's father's name to be Leander BROCK ~ not Isaac. None of his grandchildren had ever heard of anyone in the family named Isaac. Of course, it could be Leander Isaac OR Isaac Leander. But, I've had difficulty finding them in censuses as well. The ONLY census where I can find "Leander" (Lee) is in Campbell Co., TN in 1870. I cannot find him anywhere prior or after (I've looked in TN, GA, and parts of AL). The Will BROCK mentioned above was born on October 1, 1855 in Rome, Floyd Co., GA.

So, if someone could help out by possibly searching for a will for James, maybe it would list his father's name or something about him that could give me some direction. I've been searching for more information for more than six months and it simply becomes more confusing as I go.

Thanks to anyone who could help out,
Donna (Brock) Strong
