RUTH MAE BRADEN, 88, of Briceville, died Saturday, July 8 at the Lake City
Health Care Center. She was preceded in death by; parents, Noah and Hannah
Smiddy Braden; husband, James Kelly Braden; children, Eleanor White, Jimmie
Inman, Lawrence Braden, and Charles Braden; brothers, Edd Braden, and Byrd
Braden; and sisters, Sallie Braden, and Maggie Goans. Survivors include;
daughters, Norma Randolph of Briceville, Tula Smart of Monteagle, Ellen
Raines of Lake City, Waunita Williams of Salem, New Jersey, Mary Wilson of
Cahokia, Illinois, and Betty Daugherty of Columbus, Georgia; son, Roger
Braden of New Delhi, India; sister, Nancy Byrge of Briceville; forty
grandchildren; forty-three great-grandchildren; and several
great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 12 at
Indian Bluff Baptist Church with Rev. Ernest Ward and Rev. Tom Byrge
officiating. Interment followed in Indian Bluff Cemetery. Cox-Martin Funeral
Home in charge of arrangements.
GLENNA BRUCE, 83, of LaFollette, died Sunday, July 9 at her home. She was
preceded in death by; husband, William H. Bruce; sons, LeRoy, Gene, and
Delmus Bruce; daughter, Betty Turner; brothers, Dillard and Ernest; and
sisters, Gladys, Ruby, and Algae. Survivors include; son, Arvil Wilson of
Ohio; brothers, Clifford Bowles, and Everett Bowles, both of Ohio, and George
Bowles of LaFollette; sister, Francis Childress of LaFollette; seven
grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 12 at Martin Wilson Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Carlo Bruce officiating. Interment will follow today
(Thursday), July 13 at 11 a.m. in Bakers Forge Cemetery.
GALEN D. CHAMBERS, 86, of Scott County, died Sunday, July 2 at Briarcliff
Health Care Center in Oak Ridge. He was a member of Jacksboro Masonic Lodge,
and a decorated "Flying Tiger" veteran of WWII. He was a retired merchant and
cattleman. He was married to Louise Bailey Chambers; father of Donald B.
Chambers, Brenda Gail Chambers Daugherty, and Diana Sue Chambers Cox; brother
of Clovis T. Chambers, and Janice Chambers Bible; and the son of Dr. D. T.
and Artie Mincey Byrd Chambers. Cremation was held Monday, July 3. Memorial
service will be graveside August 12 at 3 p.m. in Campbell Memorial Cemetery,
LaFollette. memorials, in lieu of flowers, are requested to be made in his
honor to Norma Baptist Church, Route 2, Huntsville, TN. 37756.
MARY M. COX, 58, of Lake City, died Monday, July 10 at U. T. Medical Center
in Knoxville. She was preceded in death by; husband, Donald L. Cox; parents,
John and Dorothy Poore; brothers, Benny Poore, and J. R. Poore; and infant
son, Donald Ray Cox, Jr. Survivors include; daughters, Donna Stallings, and
Paula Sprouse, both of Lake City; sons, Ricky Cox of Lake City, and Tim Cox
of Georgia; sisters, Geneva Shawn of Claxton, Louise Cox, and Faye Phillips,
both of Lake City; brothers, Murriel Poore, and Danny Poore, both of Lake
City; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were
held Wednesday, July 12 at Cox-Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack
Taylor officiating. Interment will follow today (Thursday), July 13 at 10
a.m. in Disney Cemetery.
SHELBY "Shelb" FATELEY, 66, of Lake City, died Monday, July 10 at the
Methodist Medical Center. He was a member of the Carpenters Local #50, and
the leader of Shelb & the Kountry Kutups. He was preceded in death by;
mother, Mae Spears; and brother, Jay Fateley. Survivors include; wife,
Darlene Fateley; son, Terry Fately of Lake City; daughter, Sherry Leab of
Lake City; grandsons, Johnathon Childs, and Tyler Richardson, both of Lake
City; half sister, Frieda Crawford of Indiana; niece, Sharon Thomas of
Florida; and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held today
(Thursday), July 13 at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Ault and
Rev. Roger Nance officiating. He will lie in state one hour prior to the
service. Interment to follow service in Oak Grove Cemetery.
OPAL A GREEN, 71, of Speedwell, died Thursday, July 6 at LaFollette Nursing
Home. She was preceded in death by; husband, Harvey Green; and parents,
Lawrence and Bessie McCulley Gaylor. Survivors include; daughter, Joyce
Proffitt of Speedwell; grandchildren, Mark Proffitt, and Chad Proffitt; two
great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Gaylor of Knoxville; sister, Louise Day
of Clinton; and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held
Saturday, July 8 at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Pastor Richard Proffitt
officiating. Interment followed in Jacksboro Cemetery. Martin Wilson Funeral

DOROTHY MAE BENGE KIRKLAND, 74, of Jellico, died Wednesday, July 5 at Jellico
Community Hospital. She is survived by; sons, Brooks Kirkland of Xenia, Ohio,
and Tony Benge of Knoxville; sisters, Vivian Lynch of Jellico, and Frances
Sharp of Macon, Georgia; brothers, J. M. Benge of Macon, Georgia, and Claude
Benge of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Christopher Kirkland of Abilene, Texas,
Stephen Kirkland, and Timothy Kirkland, both of Georgia; and four
great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 8 at Llewellyn
Funeral Home of Jellico with Rev. Lester Cox officiating. Interment followed
in Jellico Cemetery.
EWELL LAWSON, 93, of Williamsburg, Kentucky, died Monday, July 3 at his home.
He was preceded in death by; wife, Malinda Lawson; sons, Narvie Lawson, and
Donald Lawson; daughter, Mary Lawson. Survivors include; sons, Arlie Lawson,
Kirby Lawson, and Randy Lawson, all of Williamsburg, Kentucky; daughters,
Dorthy Parton, and Janice Moffer, both of Williamsburg, Ohio, Dora Lawson,
Margie Brock, and Frieda Sears, all of Williamsburg, Kentucky; brother,
William Crit Lawson of Williamsburg, Kentucky; and a host of grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends. Funeral services will be held
today (Thursday), July 6 at 1 p.m. at Harp Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. A.
J. Barton and Rev. George Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Siler
Cemetery.
BOYD MCNEELY, 76, of LaFollette, died Thursday, July 6 at LaFollette Medical
Center. He was preceded in death by; parents, John and Amanda McNeeley;
brothers, Emerson McNeeley, and Albert McNeeley; and sister, Druzella
McNeeley. Survivors include; wife, Pearl Parker McNeeley; daughter, Angela
Keller of Corryton, Tennessee; brother, Clarence McNeeley of LaFollette;
sister, Juanita Watson of Oak Ridge; granddaughter, Hope Comer of LaFollette;
and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 8
with Rev. Leonard Dabney officiating. Interment followed in Bakers Forge
Cemetery. Roach Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
JEAN EVELYN MILLER, 74, of LaFollette, died Saturday, July 8 at St. Mary's
Hospital in Knoxville. She was preceded in death by; parents, Lawrence and
Sally Collins Wilde; three sisters; and one brother. Survivors include;
husband, Homer Miller; sons, Homer Miller, Jr., and John Hugh Miller, both of
Cincinnati, Ohio; daughters, Barbara Jean Wilson of Jellico, and Shelia Kay
Ogg of LaFollette; brothers, William B. Wilde of Jellico, and Clyde Wilde of
Detroit, Michigan; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral
services were held Monday, July 10 at Cumberland View Baptist Church with
Rev. Bobby Ray Wilson and Rev. John Hugh Miller officiating. Interment
followed in Cumberland View Cemetery. Cross Funeral Home in charge of
arrangements.
RODNEY D. "Moe" MOSLEY, 45, of Novi, Michigan, died Friday, July 7 in Owosso,
Michigan. He was retired from General Motors Hydromatic Plant in Warren,
Michigan. He was preceded in death by; father, Dewey Mosley; and
grandparents, Dewey Mosley, Sr. and James and Hazel Proffitt. Survivors
include; son, Korey Mosely of Owosso; mother, Drusilla Mosely of LaFollette;
grandmother, Carrie Mosley; special friend, Tamie Kienutske of Owosso;
sister, Sandy Smith of Kansas; brother, Colin Mosley of Michigan; three
nephews; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral services were held
Tuesday, July 11 at Martin Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Partin
officiating. Interment followed Wednesday, July 12 in Campbell Memorial
Gardens.
ED MOZINGO, 61, of Greenfield, Indiana, died Monday, July 10 at Community
East Hospital. He attended Cedarville Ohio College, and served in the U. S.
Army. he was a retired GM Truck and Bus Company receiving clerk. He was
preceded in death by; parents, Homer and Maud Mason Mozingo; and sister, June
Drummonds. Survivors include; wife, Opal Atkinson Mozingo; son, Louis Mozingo
of Anderson, Indiana; sisters, Geneva Loveday, and Fay Terry, both of
Clairfield. Memorial services will be held today (Thursday), July 13 at Pasco
Memorial Mortuary with Dr. J. Phillip Klinger officiating. Memorial
contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
LARUA B. RAY, 85, of LaFollette, died Thursday, July 6 at LaFollette Medical
Center Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by; husband, Barney M. Ray;
parents, Joel and Tennie Roberts; sons, Ernest Ray, and Carl Ray; brothers,
Edgar Roberts, Oscar Roberts, and Charles Roberts; and sisters, Virginia
James, Marie Jeffers, and Pauline Roberts. Survivors include; daughters, Alma
Woodby of LaFollette, Marie Leinart, and Judy Ayers, both of Lake City, and
Linda Gwin of Jacksboro; sons, Barney Ray, Jr. of LaFollette, and Jerry Ray
of London, Kentucky; brothers, Earl Roberts, Paul Roberts, and Louie Roberts,
all of LaFollette; sisters, Myrtle Rutherford, and Louise Shepard, both of
LaFollette; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and a host
of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 9 at Lick
Creek Church of God with Rev. Harry James , Rev. Pat Ayers, and Rev. Junior
Dilbeck officiating. Interment followed in Peabody Cemetery. Walters Funeral
Home of LaFollette in charge of arrangements.
BETTY SUE SULLIVAN, 73, of LaFollette, died Saturday, July 8 at LaFollette
Medical Center. She was a retired nurse. She was preceded in death by;
parents, Earl Raymond and LaUna Greene Sullivan, Sr. Survivors include;
sisters, Jean Brown of LaFollette, Lillian Sullivan of Atlanta, Georgia,
Eloise Mitchell of Venice, Florida; brothers, Raymond Sullivan, Jr. of
Knoxville, Ralph Sullivan of Charleston, West Virginia, and James A. Sullivan
of Jonesboro, Georgia. Funeral services were held graveside Monday, July 10
with Rev. Lynn Ray officiating. Interment followed in Jellico Cemetery. Cox &
Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
VIRLIE C. WEST YARBER, 78, of Sheffield Lake, Ohio, died Friday, July 7 at
her home. She was preceded in death by; parents, Teddy and Emma Bunch West;
former husband, John L. Yarber; sisters, Virgie Carr, and Vada Poore; and
brothers, Vern West, and Virgil "Denny" West. Survivors include, daughter,
Joyce Sue Camps of Ohio; son, Joseph L. Harmon of Clinton; sisters, Venna
Mowery of Ohio, and Vivian J. Mosley of Lake City; brothers, Vester West,
Vaughn West, and Verdith West, all of Lake City; six grandchildren; six
step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchildren;
one great-great-grandchild; and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral
services were held Sunday, July 9 at Cox-Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
David Walker and Rev. Herman Woods officiating. Interment followed Monday,
July 10 in Pine Hill Cemetery, Lake City.
