July 8, 2000, at ll:00 at Farmer's Grove Baptist Church in Anderson County
there will be a third annual reunion of the descendants of Jave and Ellen
Evans Nelson who died in the 1920's and are buried at Liberty Cemetery.
Jave's parentage remains a mystery, but Ellen was the daughter of Thomas Evans
and Permelia York Evans who moved to Tennessee after the Civil War. Thomas
died March 9, 1907, at age 76 and is buried in Sunset Cemetery in Clinton.
They were parents of Hugh H. Evans, Silas W. Evans, Mary Ann Evans Phelps,
Ellen Evans Nelson, Martha Evans, Sintha Evans, Thomas Milton Evans, and John
Evans. Permelia York Evans was the daughter of Joseph and Mary York. Joseph
York is believed to have been born in Tennessee in 1802. I believe Joseph
York was a son of William York who was born in Guilford County, North Carolina
between 1770 and 1780. We would love to hear from Evans descendants.
On July 29, 2000, beginning at 11:00 there will be a reunion for the
descendants of John A. Johnson and wife Eliza Hensley at Farmer's Grove
Baptist Church fellowship hall. Their son John Johnson was first pastor at
Farmer's Grove in 1897. Rev. John Johnson married Mary Farmer, daughter of
John Farmer and Nancy Henderson Farmer. Rev. John and Mary Farmer Johnson's
children included Samuel Johnson, William Johnson, George Johnson, Margaret
Elizabeth Johnson (Lizzie) Miller, Nancy Eleanor (Elene) Johnson Nelson,
Mellie Johnson May, John Napoleon Johnson, Robert L. Johnson, and Minnie
Johnson Loy. For questions or comments, contact Carolyn Johnson @
