CARDEN, MARIE - a lifelong resident of Clinton, Tennessee, passed away
Sunday, May 28, 2000 at Shannondale Health Care Center in Knoxville. Born
February 17, 1908 near Clinton, she was the second child of William Elvis and
Annie Elizabeth Wade Carden. Soon after Marie was born the family moved to
the 337 acre farm just across the Clinch River from Clinton. Riverside Farm
was considered by many as the finest farm in the county. When the family sold
the farm in 1962 to TVA to be used for future development, Marie and her
sister, Hazel, moved to Eagle Bend Lane in Clinton. There they lived until
1995 when they moved to Shannondale Retirement Home in Knoxville. Marie
graduated from Clinton High School in 1929 where she was a member of the
girl's basketball team and an honor student. She was a business graduate and
retired from The UT Agricultural Extension Service (ASCS) where she was
Manager of the Anderson County office for 30 years. She was active in The
Business and Professional Women's Club, First Baptist of Clinton, Timely
Topics Club and The Anderson County Fair Board of Directors for many years.
Preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mrs. Ora Franklin Carden
(Bernese) who died in 1979. She is survived by her sisters, Hazel Carden and
Anne Carden Wilbanks of Knoxville; brother Wade Hampton Carden of Houston,
Texas; several nieces and nephews, including Doris Carden Wood of Charlotte,
Carole Ann Carden Qumsie of Houston, Texas, Dr. Wade Douglas Carden of
Cincinnati, Allen Carden of Los Angeles, Linda Wilbanks Morgan, Patricia
Wilbanks Watters and Caye Wilbanks Teegarden, all of Atlanta and many
great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday,
May 31, 2000 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with Rev. Samuel Dean
officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Wednesday prior to the service. Burial will be at Sunset Cemetery in Clinton.

KIENBERGER, LORINE M. - age 90, of Oak Ridge passed away Sunday, May 28, 2000
at The NHC Health Care Center. She was a Charter Member of Faith Lutheran
Church of Oak Ridge, Sunday school teacher and active with The Lutheran
Women's Missionary League. She was a long-time member of The Oak Ridge
Women's Club, substitute Teacher at Daniel Arthur Rehabilitation Center and
Poll Watcher at election time. Survived by daughter, Charlene Smith and her
husband, Dr. George E. Smith; granddaughters, Lauryl Smith and Kristin Smith;
a number of nieces, nephews and cousins in Missouri. Funeral services are
Wednesday, May 31, 2000 at 8:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, Rev. James
Evers officiating. Graveside services are Thursday, June 1, 2000 at 1:00 p.m.
at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church,
1300 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN 37830 or to The Keystone Elder Day
Care, 1350 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. The family will receive
friends on Wednesday, May 31, 2000 from 7-8 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church.
Weatherford Mortuary in charge of the arrangements.

MAY, MATTYE B. - age 85, of Oak Ridge, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2000 at
Fort Sanders Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville. She retired in 1980 from
Union Carbide Corporation. She was a member of Oak Ridge First United
Methodist Church, serving on the Church Board and holding several offices for
The Women's Rachel Circle. She traveled extensively and enjoyed writing and
speaking about her trips. Preceded in death by brothers, James May and Carl
May. Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Bob Fehling of Knoxville;
granddaughters, Susan Warwick and Karin Largan of Knoxville;
great-grandchildren, Sloane and Brock Warwick and Jake Largan of Knoxville;
sisters, Ora Lee Hickerson of McMinnville, TN and Annie C. Moore of Peoria,
Illinois. Funeral services are Tuesday, May 30, 2000 at 8:00 p.m. at
Weatherford Mortuary with Dr. Ken Henderlight officiating. Graveside services
are Wednesday, May 31, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to The First United Methodist Church, 1350 Oak Ridge
Turnpike, oak Ridge, TN 37830. The family will receive friends on Tuesday,
May 30, 20000 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge.
