FARR, EDITH OPHELIA WILLIAMS - age 89 of Claxton, died Thursday, April 27,
2000 at Mariner Health Care Center in Andersonville. She was a member of
Calvary Baptist Church in Heiskell. She was a very loving mother and
grandmother. Preceded in death by parents, James David Williams, Sr. and
Isadore Fordham Williams; husband, William McKinley Farr, Sr.; and son, James
Leon Farr also, brothers, Thomas Carl and James David; sisters; Mildred
Williams, Pearl Wooliver, Katherine Thurman, and Dorothy Richmond. Survivors
include, sons and daughters in law, William McKinley, Jr. and Katherine Farr
of Knoxville, Paul Edward and Dorothy Farr of Lake City, Thomas Carl and
Geanis Farr of Claxton, Bobby Ray, Kingston; daughters and sons in law, Betty
Jean and Ralph Fraker, Claxton, Mary Sue Leinart, Knoxville, Charlotte Ann
and Junior Macklin, Powell, Margaret Louise and Michael Ledbetter, Claxton;
on sister, Margaret Wright, Knoxville; 29 grandchildren; 39 great
grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons,
Randal Macklin, Bryan Ledbetter, Mike Ledbetter, Jeff Wallace, William
McKinley Farr, III, and Dennis Macklin. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m.
Sat. April 29, 2000 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Service will
follow at 8 p.m. Graveside service Sunday, April 30th, 2 p.m. Woodhaven
Memorial Gardens, Claxton, Rev.'s Harold Ogle and Ed Bowne officiating.
GOANS, OSCAR - age 67, passed away Friday, April 28, 2000, at Methodist
Medical Center. He was born October 26, 1932 in Anderson County. He was a
retired Lather with Gilbert Construction Company in Knoxville. He was a
veteran of the United States Army. His hobbies were attending flea markets in
the Clinton area, fishing, and gardening. He is preceded in death by parents,
Frank and Bertha Reynolds Goans; brothers, Wade and Wesley Goans. Survivors:
wife, Wilma Vann Goins, Clinton; son, Bill Goans, Clinton; sisters, Dora and
husband Bob Stinnett, Maryville, Madeline Moore, Claxton; brother, Fred
Goans, Oak Ridge; sister in law, Shirley and husband Ross Adcock, Clinton;
mother in law, Ola Vann, Clinton. The family will receive friends Sunday,
April 30, 2000, from 6-8 p.m. at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton
with funeral services following at 8 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Jim
McPherson officiating. Interment will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at McCarty
Woodhaven Memorial Gardens. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton in charge
of all arrangements.
