HACKWORTH, CHARLES C. - age 77, of Lake City passed away Thursday January 20,
2000 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. Mr. Hackworth was a member
of the Covenant Life Worship Center and was retired from Union Carbide K-25
plant in Oak Ridge. Mr. Hackworth was a veteran of the US Army and served in
World War II. Born January 23, 1922 in Anderson County to the late Samuel and
Nora Walters Hackworth. Preceded in death by 3 sisters Edith I. White, Hester
F. Moore, and Euna Kenney; and 4 brothers Homer R., Claude E., Clifton T.,
and Douglas Hackworth. Survived by: wife, Bonnie Gross Hackworth of Lake
City; son, Gary and wife Charlotte Hackworth of Lake City; granddaughter,
Holley Hackworth of Lake City; great grandson, Keagan Hackworth of Lake City;
sister, Lucille Farmer of Oak Ridge. Funeral services will be Monday January
24, at 2 p.m. at the Covenant Life Worship Center in Lake City with pastor
Tony McAfee officiating. Burial will follow at McCarty Woodhaven Memorial
Gardens in Claxton. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. Monday at
the church. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
SHARPE, EVELYN LUCILLE - age 68 of Norris, died 5:35 p.m. Wednesday, January
19, 2000, at Baptist Hospital. Preceded in death by parents, George & Grace
Walker; brother, Jimmie Joe Walker; husband, Bobbie Lee Sharpe. Survivors,
daughter and son in law, Lisa and Allan Hicks of Norris; son and daughter in
law, Rickie & Sue Sharpe of Rapid City, South Dakota; grandchildren, Adam
Berrier, Lester Webster, Leslie Webster; sisters and brother in law, Bell
Dora & Jim Rauhuff, Dorothy Walker; several other family members. Service 4
p.m. Monday, Mynatt's Chapel, Rev. Bill Dean officiating. Family and friends
will meet 12 noon Tuesday at Tenn. Veterans Cemetery for interment service.
Family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. Monday at Mynatt's.
STEELE, DOROTHY (DOT) - age 76, of Clinton, passed away January 23, 2000 at
East TN Baptist Hospital. She was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in
death by husband Herman Jean Steele. She was a member of the Watts Creek and
Williamsburg Bingo Club. Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Alvin
Caughorn of Clinton; 2 grandchildren, Joy Caughorn and Alvin Caughorn, Jr.; 6
great grandchildren, Josh Worley, Ashley Caughorn Bonds, Brandon Caughorn,
Kayla Davis, Whitney Caughorn, and Adam Caughorn; several nieces and nephews;
brother-in-law, Harry Rutherford; sister-in-laws, Lois Goosie Rutherford and
Dot Goosie; very dear special friend, Rufus Forrester. Funeral service to be
announced later. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Tuesday Rose Mortuary
Broadway Chapel.
