This was passed to me and I am passing it on to you all.

FAMILY HISTORY RESEARCHERS

NOTICE

If you now have the Personal Ancestral File (PAF) 2.0, 2.2, 2.31 or
older, please be warned that those particular programs are "crashing." In
plain English, the programs are not Y2K compatible and will soon
discontinue working. Because of this news, PAF 2.31 has been removed from
the local Family History Center's computers.

If you continue to use the above programs, be sure to make a back-up
copy each time you use your Personal Ancestral File (PAF) as insurance
against loosing your data...which has been known to happen already (by
personal experience)! (this refers to a worker at this Hutchinson church)

Workers in the Salt Lake City Family History Library specializing in
the Personal Ancestral File (PAF) programs have informed us that they will
no longer be taking phone calls from people experiencing problems with the
above listed PAF programs.

Also, Temple Name Submission files may not be compatible with
TempleReady and should only be done on the Personal Ancestral File 3.0
(temporarily) or 4.0.

That information means that Ancestral File submissions will only be
accepted from Personal Ancestral File (PAF) 3.0 or 4.0.

If you now have the Personal Ancestral File (PAF) 3.0, please be
warned that it, too, will "crash" sometime fefore the year 2000 is over.
The PAF 3.0 will be available for a short time in the local Family History
Center's computers.

The same workers have told us that they are recommending that everyone
us the Personal Ancestral File (PAF) 4.0 that can be downloaded at no cost
from the Church's Genealogical Internet site - http://www.familysearch.com
(systems requirements are listed).
