ASBURY, MAE - age 88, of Jacksboro, passed away early Saturday morning, July
10, 1999 at Lake City Health Care. She was an avid outdoor person who loved
to fish and hunt with her family. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist
Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Clarence (Sammy) Asbury and
daughter, Florene Powell. Survivors: sons, Marvin Asbury of Dearborn, MI,
Bill Asbury, Ned Asbury, Carson Asbury and J.T. Asbury, all of Jacksboro, Don
Asbury, Heiskell; daughter, June Wilson of Liberty, KY; 25 grandchildren and
several great-grandchildren; brothers, Ted Fields of Lake City, Howard Fields
of Kentucky and Ralph Fields of Pensacola, Fla.; sisters, Joan Vitatoe of
Ohio, Jeanette Worth of Ten Mile, TN and Eva Gross of Toledo, Ohio. Funeral
service 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 12, at Cross Chapel, Rev. Virgil Farmer
officiating. Interment 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, at Campbell Memorial
Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday prior to the
service. Arrangements by Cross Funeral Home.

NAMBA, EMILY BREWER - 74, of Oak Ridge died Saturday, July 10, 1999 at The
Methodist Medical Center. She was a retired Sales Associate of J.C. Penny
Company and a member of The Japanese American Citizen League. Survivors:
husband, Ken Namba of Oak Ridge; daughter, Sharon P. Steelman and husband,
Allen of Murfreesboro, TN; brothers, Robert Brewer and wife, Mildred, of
Childersburg, AL and Roy Brewer and wife, Letricia, of Odessa, Texas; sister,
Louise Poe and husband, Raymond, and Dolly Jones and husband, Herbert, all of
Sylacauga, AL; 3 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.
A memorial graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 1999 at 2:00
p.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to The Oak Ridge
Public Library, 1401 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN 37830 in memory of
Emily Brewer Namba. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 13, 1999
from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge.

STOKES, ERNIE S. - age 74 formerly of Hinds Creek Rd. passed away Saturday,
July 10, 1999 at Lake City Health Care Center. Born August 16, 1924 in
Anderson County to the late Will and Otava Graham Stokes. Mr. Stokes was a
member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Preceded in death by two brothers;
Lillard and Clarence Stokes. Survivors: daughters, Janice and husband Paul
Pitsenbarger of Maynardville, TN, Karen and husband Walter Flatford of
Heiskell, Denise Muncy of Louisville, TN; sons, Lee Stokes of Knoxville, TN,
Douglas Gene Stokes of Heiskell, TN, Bill and wife Mary Stokes of Knoxville,
TN; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; nephews, Edward Stokes of
Maynardville, TN, Allen Stokes of Clinton, TN; niece, Ann Wells of Knoxville,
TN. The funeral service will be Tuesday, July 13, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt.
Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Murphy and Rev. David Walker
officiating. burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery following the service.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 Monday at Holley Gamble Funeral Home
in Clinton. Holley Gamble Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
