BRUNER, ANDREW - 72, died Thursday, June 3, 1999, at Morristown Memorial
Hospital, following a long illness. Born in LaFollette, Tenn., he had lived
in Florham Park for the past 35 years. He has been a science teacher for the
Borough of Chatham for the past 25 years, teaching the seventh and eighth
grades. He received his bachelor of arts degree in history from the Naval
Officers Training Program (V12) and in 1954 he received his master's in
science from the University of Tennessee. He served in the Navy during World
War II. Husband of Jawanna (nee Bennett) Bruner. Loving father of Jack
Matthew Bruner of Florham Park. Brother of Joe J. Bruner of Tennessee and the
late John C. Bruner. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A
memorial service will be held on Monday, June 7, 1999, at 11 a.m. at Calvary
Presbyterian Church, Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park, N.J. Interment will be
private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to The Florham
Park First Aid Squad, 60 Felch Rd., Florham, NJ 07932 or the Calvary
Presbyterian Church, Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park, NJ 07932. Arrangements
are with Burroughs, Kohr, and Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main St., Madison,

HAMBLIN, OTERAL - age 67, of LaFollette, passed away Thursday, June 3, 1999,
at the home of his son, Ralph Hamblin. He was preceded in death by sons,
Scottis, Boby Carl and Duey; three brothers and three sisters. Survivors:
sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and Betty Hamblin, Charles and Mary Hamblin;
daughters and sons-in-law, Keith and Lynn Wallace, Billy and Ida Brown, all
of LaFollette, Rulen and Duranis Wigtion, Rockford, Ill.; 13 grandchildren;
two great-grandchildren; brother, Cecil Hamblin of Edgewood, Md. Funeral
service 2 p.m. Sunday, June 6, at Rock Creek Church, Clairfield. The body
will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church, Rev. Jim Bowman
officiating. Interment Rodgeston Hollow Cemetery, Clairfield. The body of
Oteral Hamblin will be taken to his son, Ralph Hamblin's home at 533 Lake
Drive Lane, in the Sudennie Community, where friends may call after 2 p.m.

RHYNE, MAUDE J. - age 82, of Clinton, passed away June 2, 1999 at Little
Creek Sanitarium in Knoxville. She was a longtime member of Zion Baptist
Church and Honorary Member of Gospel Baptist Church. She is preceded in death
by husband, Lester Rhyne; sisters, Ruth Overton and Dora Herrell; parents,
James F. Jennings and Flora Johnson Jennings. Survivors: daughters, Linda
Cook of Morristown, Louise and husband, Larry Jones, of Kingston; sons, Carl
E. Rhyne and wife, Jean, of Powell, Jerry L. Rhyne and wife, Sherry, of
Hendersonville; sisters, Alberta Amerine of Clinton, Pearl Foust of Claxton
and Mable Vandergriff of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Deborah Shrader,
Duane Rhyne, Donna Inners, Tammy Belcher, De Anna Cook, Laura Scheffer, Lloyd
Jones, Jonathan and Joey Rhyne, Brandon and Brittney Haston;
great-grandchildren, Kristin Shrader, Colin Rhyne, Jared Belcher, Rebekah
Belcher, Leah Belcher, Benjamin Inners, Jeremiah Haston and Regan Haston;
many nieces and nephews; special friend and caregiver, Mary Lou Wiese of
Clinton. Funeral services 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 1999 at Holley Gamble
Chapel, Clinton, with Rev. Bill Roop officiating. Interment following funeral
at Zion Cemetery in the Claxton Community. Family will receive friends
1:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday at Holley Gamble Funeral Home. Memorials may be made
to Gideon International or The Alzheimer's Association. The family will be at
the home of Carl Rhyne, 8200 Ewing Road, Powell. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home,
Clinton, in charge of arrangements.

SMILEY, MILDRED MESSAMORE - age 86, of West Wolfe Valley Road in Clinton,
passed away Friday, June 4, 1999 at Methodist Medical Center. She attended
Zion Baptist Church. She was born October 31, 1912 in Knox County. Preceded
in death by husband, Roger H. Smiley; daughter, Carolyn J. Smiley; sons,
James Smiley and Hollis Smiley; grandson, Dean Smiley; parents, Pete
Messamore and Exie Peters Messamore. Survivors: daughter, Betty and husband
Roy Harkelroad of Clinton; son, George and wife, Alma Smiley, of Clinton;
daughters-in-law, Dorothy Smiley of Knoxville and Betty Smiley of Norris; 3
grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, James G. and wife Betty
Messamore, of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services 2:00
p.m. Sunday, June 6, 1999 at Holley-Gamble Chapel. Interment follows after
funeral at Zion Cemetery in the Claxton Community. Family will receive
friends 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 1999 at Holley-Gamble Funeral
Home, Clinton.
