HUFFSTETLER, JOHN THOMAS - of Crossville, Tenn., formerly of Oak Ridge,
Tenn., departed this life on Sunday, May 16, 1999. Born May 7, 1925, in
Alcoa, Tenn., and raised in Grants, N.M., he was the son of Frank H. and
Marie B. Huffstetler. He was preceded in death by his beloved first wife, Joy
K. Huffstetler; and his brother, Frank Huffstetler, Jr. Tom joined the Air
Force in 1943, trained as a pilot and bombardier and retired as a Lt. Colonel
in 1975. He graduated from UT Engineering School in 1957 and worked for Union
Carbide Corporation/Martin Marietta in Oak Ridge for more than 30 years. He
was a member of the United Church Chapel on the Hill in Oak Ridge, and was
also a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge. Active in the Oak Ridge Community
Playhouse, Tom acted and starred in many productions from 1961 into the
1990's, receiving the Knoxville Theatre Award for Best Actor in The
Andersonville Trial. Tom is survived by his wife, Paula Gillespie of Oak
Ridge; daughters and sons-in-law, Lise and David Blakley of Atlanta, Ga. and
Kae and Keith Robbins of Crossville; granddaughters, Emily and Lindsay
Robbins of Crossville; stepchildren, Stuart and Cindy Gillespie of
Cincinnati, Ohio, Melanie Gillespie of Knoxville, and Landon and Jane
Gillespie of Chattanooga; sister-in-law, Rena Huffstetler of Maryville;
brother-in-law, Al Kuykendall of Boise, Id.; several nieces, nephews and
step-grandchildren; and numerous friends. Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m.
at the United Chapel on the Hill Church with Rev. Boyd Carter officiating.
Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will
receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. McCarty-Martin
Funeral Home of Oak Ridge is in charge of arrangements.
SHEEHAN, MARGARET TAYLOR - age 73, of Oak Ridge, passed away Saturday, May
16, 1999, at Methodist Medical Center. Mrs. Sheehan was a member of the
Kingston Pike Baptist Church in Lenoir City. Mrs. Sheehan was the past royal
matron of the Order of the Amaranth, also the Atomic City Court #6, member of
the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 390, member of Ruth Shrine #5. Mrs. Sheehan
was retired after 17 years of service with Proffitt's as a sales clerk. Born
August 27, 1925, in Chattanooga, Tenn. to the late Winford Holbert and Molly
Wright Taylor. Preceded in death by her husband, James H. Sheehan and a
sister, Helen Taylor Livingston. Survivors: sons, Robert Michael and wife,
Anne Sheehan of Oak Ridge, James Randolph Sheehan of Jackson, Miss., Kenneth
Joseph Sheehan of Oak Ridge; daughters, Rebecca Ann and Ronny Hayes of Oak
Ridge; grandchildren, Norman Allan and wife, Stacey Teasley III, Scott
Anthony Teasley, Zachary James Sheehan; great-grandchildren, Mikaila , Amber,
Brandon Teasley; brother, Joe E. and wife, Betty Taylor of Kingston, Tenn.;
sisters, Mildred and husband, Harold Fraker, Alma Taylor Smith of Knoxville;
several nieces and nephews. There will be an Amaranth Service at 7:30 p.m.
Monday at McCarty-Martin Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service will be
Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Anderson Memorial Gardens with Rev. Ronny Jones
officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. at the funeral
home, Monday evening. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Amaranth
