MASON, ZULA HUMPHREYS - age 91, widow of Luther G. Mason of 603 Crestview Dr.,
Rockwood, formerly of Madisonville, passed away 9:25 p.m., Sunday, November
29, 1998, at Rockwood Health Care. Daughter of the late Alfred, Sr. and Emma
Brooks Humphreys. Survivors: sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Jeanne
Mason, Rockwood, Richard and Mary Margaret Mason, Madisonville;
granddaughters, Angela Tallent, Madisonville, Nancy Reddy, Knoxville, Melanie
Lewis, Jackson, Miss., Mary Lesser, Louisville, Ky.; great-grandchildren, Gini
Tallent, Whitney Puckett, PatrickClyde Reddy; sisters, Johnnie White, Erma
Waters, both of Maryville, Leona Kuder, Elizabeth Bolex, Joyce Cartwright, all
of California; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by: sister, Zoe
Humphreys; brothers, Taylor and Maurice Humphreys. Funeral 2 p.m., Tuesday at
Biereley-Hale Chapel. Rev. Beecher Miller officiating. Interment Haven Hill
Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church,
PO Box 157, Madisonville, TN 37354. Family will receive friends 1-2 p.m.,
Tuesday at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville.
ROW, RUTH TURNER - 88, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, November 29, 1998, at her
home in The Oak Ridge Retirement Center. Mrs. Row moved from her home in
Blacksburg, Va., to Oak Ridge in 1997. She was a member of The First Christian
Church of Oak Ridge. Preceded in death by husband, Dr. Stuart B. Row and
parents, Henry and Eugenia Turner of Blacksburg, VA. Survived by: son, Thomas
H. Row and wife Patricia of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Deborah Stapleton and
husband Gary and their children, Blake, Carly and Austin of Farragut, Stuart
Row and wife Leslie and their son, Brandon of Farragut, Chris Row and wife
Susan of Knoxville, Robert Row and wife Rebecca of Jamestown, Jill Johnson and
husband Jeff and their children, Scarlett and Garrett of Lake City, Joel Selph
and husband Jim of Knoxville, April Pack and husband Rob of Atlanta; special
friends were Sue Fontana of Oak Ridge, Alene Larner, Joan Lucas and Libby and
Mac McCann of Blacksburg, VA and Susan Manges of Denver, CO. Funeral services
are Wednesday, December 2, 1998, 8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary with Rev.
Laura Odiorne officiating. Graveside services are Thursday, December 3, 1998,
2 p.m. at Westview Cemetery in Blackburg, VA with Rev. Claire Fischer-Davies
of Christ Episcopal Church officiating. Memorials may be made to The First
Christian Church, 203 Michigan Avenue, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. The family will
receive friends Wednesday, December 2, 1998, from 6-8 p.m. at Weatherford
Mortuary, Oak Ridge.
SHARP, TOM LEE, Retired SFC - age 64, of LaFollette passed away Sunday,
November 29, 1998, at Oak Ridge Methodist Medical Center. He was a member of
LaFollette First Baptist Church. During Mr. Sharp's career in The U.S. Army,
he received many honors: National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal
(6th Award), Army Commendation Metal, Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Service Medal
with 2 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Vietnam Cross of
Gallantry with Palm (Unit), 2 Overseas Service Bars. Preceded in death by
parents, Thomas & Emma Sharp and son, Adrain Sharp. Survivors: daughters,
Mildred Jane Sharp, LaFollette, Deborah L. Forsythe, Albuquerque, New Mexico;
2 grandchildren; sister, Mary Bentley, Knoxville; cousin, Thelma L. Wilson
(Little Sister); special friend, Katharyn Jane Owen. Funeral services 2 p.m.
Wednesday, December 2 at Cross Funeral Home, Rev. Rob Hudelson officiating.
Interment at Sharp Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive
friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 1 at Cross Chapel. Arrangements by Cross
Funeral Home.
