COOPER, MARY (JACKSON) - age 72, of Oak Ridge, died 6:17 p.m. Friday, October
9, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was a member of Oakwood
Baptist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Retired Teachers
Association and the Oak Ridge Bridge Association. She was retired from the Oak
Ridge City School System after 38 years of service. Preceded in death by
parents, George and Cornelia Jackson; husband, Hugh H. Cooper. Survivors: son,
William (B.J) Cooper; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Bill Duggins, all of
Knoxville; nephew, Tom Duggins, Roanoke, Va.; nieces, Pam Gorman, Acworth,
Ga., Beth Carter, Powell; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Wilbur
Johnson, Knoxville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Dottie Cooper,
Nashville; aunt, Mildred Bishop, Knoxville. Funeral service 8 p.m. Monday,
Stevens Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Larry Young officiating. Family and friends will
meet 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at the entrance to Lynnhurst Cemetery for a 10 a.m.
graveside service. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at
Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at Broadway.

KING, CARRIE S. - age 71, of 192 N. Purdue Avenue, Oak Ridge, passed away 8:50
p.m. Saturday, October 10, 1998, at Jellico Hospital. Miss King was born March
16, 1927, in Sharps Chapel. She graduated from Lincoln Memorial University in
1951 and moved to Oak Ridge to be employed by Union Carbide in the purchasing
division for 32 years and retired December 31, 1982. After retirement she
enjoyed raising flowers and visiting with her friends and neighbors. She was a
member of First Christian Church, Oak Ridge. Preceded in death by parents, Eli
and Bessie Cox King; brother, Scott King; sister, Hope King Ray. Survivors:
nephews, Clyde Ray and wife, Bonnie Ray; great-nieces, Carolyn K. Ray, all of
Sharps Chapel; special friends, Emerine and Arthur Hopson, Mary Helen Rose,
Bill and Ann Conover, Marie Campbell. Funeral service 8 p.m. Monday, Cooke
Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Greg Sharp officiating. Interment 11 a.m. Tuesday, Cox
Cemetery, Sharps Chapel. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday,
Cooke Mortuary, Maynardville.

LEWIS, MRS. BESSYE - of Oak Ridge, Tenn., departed this life, Oct. 8, 1998, at
Methodist Medical Center. She was born to Ida Reed Dodd and the late Albert in
Kosciusko, Miss. She attended Ittala County Schools and she took several
college courses. She retired in 1986 from Martin Marietta after 21 1/2 of
loyal service. She was a former employee of Methodist Medical Center. She was
one of seven founding members of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Oak Ridge and
remained faithful. She was very active member. Preceded in death by sons,
Charles and Maurice Lewis. She leaves to cherish her memory loving family:
daughters, Carol Black, Detroit, Mich., Shirley Jarnigan, Toledo, Ohio; son,
Aaron Love, Atlanta, Ga.; mother, Mrs. Ida Reed, Detroit, Mich.; 14
grandchildren to include grandson, Eric Love and 13 great-grandchildren and
five great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann Pinson, Jackson, Miss.; one
niece, Dr. Marion Pinson, Augusta, Ga.; and a host of community and church
family and friends. Open visitation Tuesday 12-7 p.m. at Mount Zion Baptist
Church, Oak Ridge. Family will receive friends Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. at
Mount Zion Baptist Church, Oak Ridge. Funeral service to follow 11 a.m. Elder
T. L. Mims officiating assisted by other ministers. Interment to follow Oak
Ridge Memorial Park. Jarnigan & Son Mortuary in charge.

WILLIAMS, LLOYD N. - age 85, Timothy Ave., Clinton, passed away Sunday at
Mariner Health Care Center. Preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Williams
and a brother, Ralph Williams. Son of the late R.W. and Emma Williams. Mr.
Williams was personnel director for the former Magnet Mills in Clinton and
retired from Kellwood Co. in Knoxville. Fifty year member of Clinton Lions
Club. Former board member of Oak Ridge Hospital. Member of Clinton Housing
Authority. Member of Memorial United Methodist Church where he was a member of
the Men's Weslayan class and taught the youth group for five years and served
as chairman of various committees. Graduate of University of Tennessee.
Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and George Moschis of Atlanta, Ga.;
sister, Sara Nell and her husband, William Bowers of Hayden, Ala.; nephew,
Bill Bowers of Gadston, Ala. Funeral service 8 p.m. Tuesday, Holley-Gamble
Chapel, Rev. Warren Wattenbarger officiating. Interment 10:30 a.m. Wednesday,
McCarty Woodhaven Memorial Garden. Memorials may be made to Memorial United
Methodist Church. Pallbearers: Dr. Dan Thomas, Fred, Erik, and Chris
Martinson, Ed Brown, Jim E. Medley, Bill McBride, Neil Vaughn and Gordon
Thompson. Family will receive friends 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, Holley-Gamble
Funeral Home.
