ALLEN, MARJORIE ERNALINE - age 86, of N. 5th St., LaFollette, passed away
Wednesday, July 22, 1998, at the LaFollette Medical Center. She was a member
of Stanford Chapel AME Zion Church. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Samuel Jerome Allen; son, Robert Jerome Allen; daughter, Audrey J. Shirles;
parents, George and Maggie Folk McCllan. She is survived by her son; Ronald P.
Allen of Knoxville; daughter and devoted son-in-law, Mary K. and Henry
Claiborne of LaFollette; daughter, Virginia Sue Goins of Morristown; 18
grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Katheryn Wilmetta Young of
Dayton, Ohio and Beatrice Shorter of Big Stone Gap, Va.; and a host of other
relatives and friends. Funeral service will be 8 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 1998,
in the chapel of Martin Funeral Home with Rev. Churchill Moore officiating.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday before funeral services.
Interment will be 1 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 1998 in Greenbriar Cemetery Jellico.

MEFFORD, ROY LEE - age 91, of Fall Creek Rd., Caryville, passed away Thursday,
July 23, 1998, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville. He
was a member of Round Rock Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his
wife, Nora Hensley Mefford; daughter, Margaret McKamey; two infant sons; three
infant daughters; parents, John Wesley and Lucinda Mefford. He is survived by
sons, Thomas J. Mefford of Jacksboro, Leon Mefford of S. Paris, Maine, Joe
Mefford of Dayton, Tenn., and Johnny Mefford of Maine; daughters, Marlene
Simpson, Lillie Allen and Jackie Mefford Taylor, all of Caryville, and Mary
Jordan of Biloxi, Miss.; 32 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren;
sister, Sally Huddleston of Indiana; a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 1998, in the chapel of
Martin Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Ward and Rev. Robert Adkins officiating.
Interment will follow in Queener Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8
p.m. Friday, July 24, 1998, at Martin Funeral Home. Martin Funeral Home of

WILSON, SARAH NOELL - of Oak Rdige, widow of the late Clyde M. Wilson, died
July 21, 1998, at the Methodist Medical Center. Born in Oglethorge County,
Ga., she was the daughter of Maude Birchmore and John Thomas Noell. She
graduated from the University of Georgia with honors, and went to work for the
Frank March Advertising Agency in Atlanta as a copy writer. Subsequently, she
was employed by Sears, Roebuck and Company, and at the time of her retirement
in 1941, she was advertising manager of the Knoxville Sears store. Mrs. Wilson
was a member of Church Street United Methodist Church from 1934-1994 and of
the First United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge from 1994-1998. She was
affiliated with United Daughters of the Confederacy, Association for the
Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities, and American Association of University
Women. She worked as a volunteer at the University of Tennessee Medical
Center. Survived by children, Marialice Wilson and Calvin Wenzel, Anderson
County, Barbara and Noell Wilson, Carrollton, Ga; grandchildren, Mark
Ferguson, Chicago, Lara Dare Ferguson, Fort Collins, Colo., Christopher
Gillian Wilson, Carrollton, Ga. Graveside service will be held on Saturday,
July 25, 1998, 10 a.m., Highland Memorial Cemetery, Knoxville, with Rev.
William H. Balch officiating. Memorials may be made to Church Street United
Methodist Church, Knoxville, or to First United Methodist Church, Oak Ridge.
Weatherford Mortuary in Oak Ridge in charge of arrangements.
