LOMAX, RUTH GASS - age 85, of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 1998, at
her home. Born April 17, 1913, in Greeneville, Tenn. Retired in 1978 from
teaching second grade in Clinton City Schools. An active member of Anderson
County Retired Teachers Association. She was a dedicated choir member at
Memorial United Methodist Church in Clinton for over 50 years. She was
preceded in death by parents, William and Minnie Gass; sister, Eva Gass Hobbs;
and brother, Robert Gass. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Everette
(Ebb) Lomax; daughter, Carol Lomax Kittle and husband George of Sardis, Ohio;
son, John Lomax and wife Debbie of Powell; two grandchildren, Eric and Sandi
Cummings; two great-grandchildren, Deric and Alex Cummings; niece, Barbara
Hobbs O'Neal and husband James; grandnieces and nephews, Terri Ridenour James,
David and Lewis Ridenour, Patricia O'Neal Buice, Jimmy and Robert O'Neal, Bill
Gass and Carolyn Gass Hertzler. Family will receive friends 6:30-8 p.m.
Thursday, July 9 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home, Clinton, followed by funeral
service at 8 p.m. with Rev. Warren Wattenbarger officiating. In lieu of
flowers, memorials may be made to Memorial United Methodist Church, 323 N.
Main St., Clinton, TN 37716; or Tusculum College (Class of 1934), Box 5040,
Greeneville, TN 37743. Burial 11 a.m. Friday, July 10 at Sunset Cemetery,
Clinton. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
