COLLINS, ERSHEL, SR. - age 80, of Caryville, passed away Friday, June 12,
1998, at the LaFollette Medical Center. He was a member of the LaFollette
Church of Christ and U.M.W.A. Preceded in death by son, Ershel Collins, Jr.
Survivors: wife, Susan Hicks Collins, Caryville; grandchildren, Scott and
Renea Collins, Caryville, Kim and Ralph Gilby, Stafford, Va.; four great-
grandchildren; brother, Rallph Collins, Wayland, Ky. Funeral services 8 p.m.
Saturday, June 13, at Cross Funeral Home, Rev. Carl Hicks officiating.
Interment 1 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will
receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Cross Chapel. Arrangements by Cross
Funeral Home

SIMMONS, FREIDA - age 49, a resident of Oak Ridge, formerly of Oliver Springs,
formerly of Oliver Springs, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 1998, at the
Vanderbilt University Hospital of Nashville. Mrs. Simmons was preceded in
death by her father, Earl W. Simmons. Survivors: mother, Jean Simmons of
Oliver Springs, Tenn.; sisters, Sandra Adkins and husband, Harold of Clinton,
Tenn., Janine Woods and husband, Jeff of Oliver Springs; brother, Bryan
Simmons of Oliver Springs, Tenn.; uncle, Joe Freels of Karns, Tenn.; aunts,
Audrey Wood of Clinton, Tenn., Shirley Yaggi of Clinton, Tenn.; nieces and
nephews, Paula McDonald and husband, Paul of Oliver Springs, Deene Jenkins and
husband, Justin of Oliver Springs, Eli Woods and Ali Woods of Oliver Springs.
Mrs. Simmons was born January 16, 1949, in Roane County. She had lived in this
area all of her life. She worked for the City of Oak Ridge for over 20 years.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Oak Ridge. A memorial service
will be held Saturday, June 13, at 6 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church of Oak
Ridge with Rev. Steve McDolald officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family
asks that donations be made to the AmericanCancer society, 871 North
Weisgarber Road, Knoxville, Tenn 3790
