GOINS, EMORY - age 88, died Sunday, June 7, at LaFollette Medical Center.
Member of Elm Grove Baptist Church. Preceded in death by daughter, Velma
Miller; parents, Alvis and Phoeba Goins; brothers, Virgil, Onie, Alex, Walter,
Alvis, Jr., and Floyd; sisters, Allie, Willie, and Ruth. Survivors: wife, Nola
M. Goins; son and daughter-in-law, Elvin and Doris Goins; son-in-law, Kenneth
Smiley Miller, all of LaFollette; grandchildren, Beverly Boyd, Linda Prim,
Kenneth Miller, and Eric F. Goins; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Arizona
Claiborne, Caryville. Family will receive friends Tuesday night, June 9, from
6-8 p.m. at Elm Grove Baptist Church with funeral service following at 8 p.m.,
Rev. R.D. "Bobby" Hatfield officiating. Interment Wednesday, June 10, 11 a.m.
at Fincastle Methodist Cemetery. Memorial may be made to Elm Grove Baptist

SHARP, DORIS LEA CHAMBERS - age 70, of LaFollette, Rt. 2, Grantsboro
Community, passed away Sunday, June 7, at St. Mary's Medical Center,
Knoxville. Preceded in death by parents, Sterling A. and Loma Strunk Chambers;
brother, Bryan Chambers. She was a member of Grantsboro Baptist Church,
retired school teacher after 44 years of service. Survivors: husband, Eugene
(Red) Sharp; daughter and son-in-law, Mitzi and Randy Lawson; grandchildren,
Casey, Brandon, and Rachel Lawson, all of LaFollette; brothers, Tyrus
Chambers, Knoxville, James Chambers, Donald Chambers, both of Knox. Co.,
Fondee Chambers, Toledo, Ohio; sisters, Melba Baird, Pittsburg, Pa., Sue
Taylor, Cincinnati, Ohio. Funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday, Grantsboro Baptist
Church, Rev. Conley Shepherd, Rev. J.T. Asbury officiating. Interment
Grantsboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at
Cross Funeral Home. Arrangements by Cross Funeral Home.
TILLEY, ELIZABETH ANN - of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, June 7, 1998, at Oak Ridge
Methodist Medical Center. Ann Tilley was born in Pennington Gap, Va., the
daughter of Ida and James H. Smith, both of whom are now deceased. She had
lived in Oak Ridge since 1954 and had worked for several years at Miller's and
Hess's Department Stores. She was active in the Anderson County Republican
Party and for many years was a volunteer at the poles on election day. Ann was
a member of First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Tilley is survived by her
husband, C.E. Tilley to whom she was married for 56 years; two sisters, Mary
Louise and her husband, Mel Winton of Oak Ridge, Margaret and her husband,
Louis Craddock of Bowling Green, Ky.; and a brother, Dwight Smith and his
wife, Levada of Oak Ridge. In addition to her husband, brother and sisters,
Mrs. Tilley is survived by two sons, Tim Tilley and his wife, Liz of
Chattanooga and Ed Tilley and his wife, Melinda of Oak Ridge; granddaughters,
Laura, Lisa and Angela Tilley; grandson, Wesley Tilley; and nieces, Carolyn
(Smith) Roberts of Ohio and Linda (Smith) Thomas of Texas. The funeral will be
at McCarty-Martin Funeral Home Chapel at 8 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Kenneth
Henderlight officiating. A graveside service will be held at Oak Ridge
Memorial Park 11 a.m. Wednesday. Memorial donations may be made to the First
United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge, 1350 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge
37830. The family will receive friends 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at McCarty-Martin
Funeral Home.
