BRUCE, MRS. WALSIE ROBBINS - age 73, of Route 4, Alder Springs Community,
LaFollette, passed away Friday, May 29, 1998, at her home. She was a member of
the Alder Springs Baptist Church. Preceded in death by husband, James Clayton
Bruce; parents, James David and Nora Shelby Robbins; brothers, Otis, Fate,
Ulus, and Marion Robbins. Survivors: sisters, Mrs. Zelma McCarty, Mrs.
Magdalene Goins, and Mrs. Lola Sweat; brother, Ellis Robbins; special great-
nephews, Brad and Adam Carroll, all of LaFollette; several other nieces and
nephews. Funeral service Monday, June 1, 1998, 8 p.m. at Walters Chapel with
Rev. O.D. Hull officiating. Interment Tuesday 10 a.m. at Goins Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday before services at Walters
Funeral Home, LaFollette, in charge of arrangements.
MALICOTE, ALVIS - age 85, of LaFollette, passed away Friday evening, May 29th,
1998, at the LaFollette Medical Center. A charter member of Demory Baptist
Church, a 50 year member of Masonic Lodge #602, former road superintendent and
deputy tax-assessor of Campbell County. He was a longtime employee of Mountain
Valley Office of Economic Opportunity. Preceded in death by his wife, Lillian
Malicote; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvis Malicote; daughter, Mary Elizabeth; and
sister, Bessie Goins Rutherford. Survivors: daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda
M. and Carl Roberts, Kingsport, Margaret and Junior McNeely, LaFollette; sons
and daughters-in-law, Robert and Jean Malicote, LaFollette, Mike and Debi
Malicote, LaFollette; granddaughters, Tracy Roberts Thomas and husband,
Robbie, Meredith Malicote Finstad and husband, Jacob; grandsons, Stacey
Malicote and wife, Lisa, Tim Malicote and wife, Tammy, Eric Roberts and wife,
Tammy and Michael Malicote; great-granddaughters, Kayla Malicote, Laureen and
Peyton Jo Malicote; great-grandsons, Timmy Malicote and Austin Thomas; several
nieces and nephews and a host of friends and relatives. Funeral service 2 p.m.
Monday, June 1st at Demory Baptist Church, Rev. Conley Shepherd, Rev. J.L.
Shoun and Rev. Hobart McCreary officiating. Interment Bakers Forge Cemetery.
Family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. Sunday, May 31 at Cross Chapel. Cross
Funeral Home, LaFollette, in charge of arrangements.
KING, HAROLD - 74, of Oak Ridge, passed away at the Methodist Medical Center
on Saturday, May 30, 1998. Born on January 14, 1924, in Corbin, Ky. Retired as
an insurance salesman with Liberty National. A vet during WWII with the U.S.
Army. Attended Royce Baptist Church. Member of Faith Masonic Lodge #756.
Survivors include wife, Beulah B. King, Oak Ridge; daughter, Gail Taylor and
husband, Jack, Knoxville; brother, Raymond King, Salvisa, Ky.; sisters, Thelma
Cornett, Louisville, Ky., Lola Thompson, Covington, Ky.; grandchildren, Bobby
Taylor and Devin Taylor, Knoxville; nephews, Larry and Richard Thompson, Jimmy
Cornett. Funeral service will be held in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary on
Monday, June 1, 1998, 8:15 p.m. with Rev. Mack Smith officiating. Masonic
service will be at 8 p.m. Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 2,
1998, 11 a.m. Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on
Monday, 6-8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge
PERRY, ELIZABETH HARRELL - former minister/missionary, age 59, passed away
quietly after a lengthy illness at Park West Hospital. She is survived by
sisters, Carolyn Landsdale and Rose Irene Crone; daughters, Cynthia Lynn
Walker and Shanda Irene El-Ajam; son, Joel Charles Brown; sons-in-law, Randy
Walker and Khalil El-Ajam; daughter-in-law, Kay Hamock Brown; and numerous
nephews, nieces and grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, James Nolan
Harrell and Violet Josephine Phillips; brother, Lewis Harrell and husband,
William Mike Perry. Family extremely proud of a unique life in service of the
Lord. First as minister of Faith Fellowship Outreach founded in Oak Ridge in
1978, and then as a missionary with Christian Believers United, Montreat, N.C.
She led teaching tours to the Holy Land, and ministered behind the Iron
Curtain during trips that included the former Soviet Union, China, Poland,
Cuba and numerous European and Middle Eastern countries. In lieu of flowers
the family request donations to Faith Fellowship Outreach, 1120 Lovell View
Drive, Knoxville, TN 37932. The family will receive friends Monday 6-8:30 p.m.
Graveside service 1 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Arrangements by
Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge.
