Hi,

I just joined this list. I've been doing genealogy about a year and didn't have any connections to TN. However, I just found out my ggrandfather enlisted in the Civil War from his state of IL. He died in a hospital in Memphis in 1865 from complications to wounds he suffered in the war. I always thought he was buried in IL but I found out today he was buried at Mississippi River National Cemetery in TN. I assume this cemetery is in Memphis. He left a wife and four small children and I guess they couldn't afford to ship his body home.

Does anyone on here have any information on this cemetery? I would like to find out if anyone takes pictures of tombstones there. I would like to know what it says on his tombstone.

Any help anyone might have would be appreciated.

Thanks!
