This has got me back tracking my 3rd great grand mother - and David
your
letter arrived soon after the first note

7th January 1767 - Joseph LANKSHEAR (Witney) & Eliz. SYLVESTER (North
Leigh),Lic. - Fathers - Thos. LANKSHEAR & Edmund SYLVESTER

Comments from an Oxfordshire Sylvester researcher
There is an Elizabeth Sylvester who was baptised in Burford on 11th
Feb
1745. I'm sorry I do not know who she married but I know that her
father was Thomas Sylvester born about 1720 and died 30 Nov 1799 , her
mother was Elizabeth born about 1729 and died 12 Jan 1791. (Also at
Burford, this burial:
1794 Jan 15 - SYLVESTER Elizabeth Mrs). I can go back further on this
line but do not know any more about Elizabeth. North Leigh is between
Witney & Woodstock about 8 miles from Burford.

Other research re SYLVESTER baptisms at Burford:
1743 Mar 12 - Paul, son of Thomas (no mother's name given)
1745 Feb 11 - Elizabeth, dau. of --ditto-
1747/8 Mar 22 - Edmund, son of --ditto--

1690 EDMUND SILVESTER marriage ELIZ WALLIS possible ancestors of
these
Thomas and Elizabeth - his will is at PRO if it is him I want and he
had sons with same names as Thomas's Paul in 1690 and Edmond in 1692.
But at the same time another Paul has a son Thomas
22Mar1690 Paul SILVESTER s Edmond
19Apr1692 Edmond SILVESTER s Edmond [father then died as above]
26Jan1695/6 Paul SILVESTER s Paul SILVESTER sen
16Jan1697/8 Thomas SILVESTER s Paul SILVESTER sen

So I am in a quandary re tracing Elizabeth and her parents
especially as
only likely baptism has father Thomas and Edmund is father at marriage.
