I think a disgusted groan (regarding the interviewer's question) is in order
here.

I was interviewed yesterday by a reporter from the Chattanooga newspaper.
She was doing an article on the SCV and Confederate Memorial Day in Georgia
which apparently is today, April 26th. She wanted the Union perspective so she
pulled my name and contact information from our web site.

Things went along fairly well, until she asked me an astounding question,
"Does the Union side have a Memorial Day like the Confederates?"

A long pause passed then I answered, "Yes. It's a Federal Holiday called
MEMORIAL DAY."

I spent the next several minutes of the interview explaining how Memorial
Day came to be and General "Black Jack Logan's role in it.

This reinforced my belief that the SUVCW and SVR still have a very important
role to play in this country and the education of its' people. It also makes
me wonder if we have been doing enough.
