LINCOLN WITHOUT BORDERS CONFERENCE
Indian Institute of Technology Madras
December 19-20, 2009
During the bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln's birth, "Abraham Lincoln Without
Borders" will be the subject of an international multidisciplinary
conference slated for December 19-20, 2009, to be held at the Indian
Institute of Technology Madras in Chennai, India. The Selection Committee
will consider all topics and approaches with primary consideration given to
proposals on Lincoln's legacy abroad from the 19th to the 21st centuries.
Submissions are preferred on institutional letterhead, should be no longer
than a single page, and consist of a 5-10 line proposal followed by a 3-5
line biographical sketch of the author written in the third person. Proposal
deadline is April 1, 2009. Early submissions are encouraged. Selected papers
will be published.
Please send proposals as e-mail attachments to Professor Sura Rath (
) with copies to Professors William D. Pederson (
), and Jyotirmaya Tripathy ().
In addition, a hard copy should be mailed to Professor Pederson at
International Lincoln Center, LSU in Shreveport, One University Place, 321
BH, Shreveport, LA 71115-2301, USA. Proposals may also be faxed to

The conference is co-sponsored by the Forum on Contemporary Theory, Baroda,
India; The International Lincoln Center; the International Lincoln
Association; and the Lincoln Forum. It is hosted by the Department of
Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Madras.
